Chapter 122 - We're Taking a Shortcut

Without exception, everyone agreed with Ren Isana's idea. They all wanted to head down together to farm Excelia. Sure, there might be some danger, but what did that matter?

The greater the risk, the greater the reward. Everyone was far too eager to improve. Only by acquiring massive amounts of Excelia could they increase their strength. Besides, they didn't even know if they needed that so-called high-quality Excelia to level up. Did they just level up when they accumulated enough standard Excelia? Or did they also need that high-quality Excelia?

Regardless, after this run, everyone had to break through to Tier 4. As for high-quality Excelia, they could just fight a Floor Boss together when the time came.

Or perhaps they didn't need that stuff at all, and standard Excelia was all it took? As long as they had enough Excelia, they could break through? After all, their status boards were completely different from the ones in this world.

"It looks like no one has any objections. In that case, we'll head down to the plains on the 23rd Floor tomorrow to farm monsters!" Ren Isana's lips curled into a slight smile as he observed everyone's reactions, his mood instantly soaring.

"Class Rep, how exactly does this method of summoning Dungeon monsters work? Do we need to use any special items?" Sora asked out of curiosity, voicing the question directly.

Her words prompted everyone to turn their gazes toward Ren Isana. They were indeed very curious about how he managed to pull it off. It was truly intriguing.

"It's nothing much. It just costs one Yukino. We just have her use her innate talent to condense the divine blood in her body," Ren Isana explained with a beaming smile.

This explanation made everyone realize how Ren Isana was able to force the Dungeon to actively spawn monsters. Good lord, he was exploiting the Dungeon's aggro mechanism toward deities!

And Yukino Yukinoshita's talent perfectly suited this purpose. So, if they wanted the Dungeon to actively spawn monsters, all they had to do was condense the divine blood.

"You can do that? Does that mean if we ask Hestia for some of her blood before entering the Dungeon, we can make it spawn monsters wherever and whenever we want?" Sora's eyes immediately lit up upon hearing this.

A brilliant idea formed in her mind—wouldn't it be great to just proactively ask Hestia for some divine blood?

"You can't do that. If you bring divine blood into the Dungeon, it will instantly trigger a massive rampage," Lefiya, a native of this world, interjected right after Sora spoke.

Her tone was incredibly serious. If they did that, the Dungeon would fly into a rage the very moment they stepped inside.

"Exactly. That's exactly what would happen. When we condense the divine blood, we only hold it for a few seconds before dispersing it. Otherwise, the monsters would just keep multiplying endlessly," Ren Isana said, fully agreeing with Lefiya's explanation.

Bringing it in from the outside and generating it from within were two completely different concepts. If they brought it in from Orario, they would be noticed the second they stepped into the Dungeon, and then they could just wait for death.

But doing it from the inside was different. Not to mention, Ren Isana only allowed the divine blood to manifest for a brief moment—it was the equivalent of sending a quick ping to test the waters and then immediately retracting the message.

The Dungeon would just peek in to see what was going on, only to find absolutely nothing. The two scenarios were fundamentally different, so Sora's idea was best left abandoned.

After listening to Ren Isana's explanation, Sora understood. It was a pity that her idea was killed in the crib, but she didn't press the issue any further.

Lefiya shifted her gaze to Ren Isana and asked, "Is your method really safe? Won't the Dungeon get angry?"

She was still somewhat worried. After all, Ren Isana's maneuver was akin to dancing on the edge of a cliff. If the Dungeon truly lost its temper, they would be facing tens of thousands of monsters.

It might even spawn monsters from the deeper floors. If deeper-level monsters really spawned up here, everyone present could be completely wiped out.

It was worth noting that even the Loki Familia wouldn't dare claim they could mess around casually in the deep floors of the Dungeon. In the past, Orario had a few even stronger Familias, but they were all gone now.

They had been completely crushed by the Dungeon. Because of this, Lefiya still held a deep reverence and fear for the Dungeon. She was terrified that Ren Isana's reckless actions would cause a disaster.

"It's not a big deal. We've already tested it. As long as the divine blood isn't exposed for too long, we'll be fine," Ren Isana immediately shared the results of their previous experiments.

Hearing Ren Isana's words, Lefiya finally breathed a sigh of relief. If that was the case, then it really shouldn't be a problem. Moreover, she was utterly shocked—could these people actually re-condense the divine blood that had already merged into their bodies?

If so, this might actually be a viable strategy to force the Dungeon to actively spawn monsters. Suddenly, she found herself looking forward to tomorrow's battle as well.

If Lefiya felt it was fine, then Ais was even less of a concern. Or rather, Ais hadn't seen any problem with it from the very beginning. She was even itching to give it a try. Forcing the Dungeon to spawn a massive horde of monsters?

That was truly an exciting prospect. Tomorrow, she could finally go all out and enjoy a thrilling battle.

With these matters settled, everyone went to briefly wash up before heading to rest, conserving their energy for the massive battle tomorrow.

The night passed quietly. Time quickly transitioned to the next day. Everyone woke up early, ate breakfast, and then gathered together. Seeing that everyone was present, Ren Isana gave the order, and they began their descent toward the 23rd Floor.

Along the way, everyone was quite excited. Many were looking forward to directly leveling up once they left the Dungeon and updated their status boards.

Many were eagerly anticipating breaking through to Tier 4. The group passed through the 19th Floor and swiftly entered the 20th Floor, a level they had never visited before.

Upon entering, Ais proactively stepped forward and said, "Let us lead the way. There's a passage here that leads directly to the 23rd Floor."

Hearing Ais say this, Ren Isana paused for a moment. After a brief thought, he didn't refuse. If there was a shortcut, it would save them a considerable amount of time.

Ais and Lefiya, who spent all year round exploring the Dungeon, were obviously much more familiar with the routes here. They knew better than anyone where the shortcuts were.

Next, it was Ais's turn to lead. She guided the group straight toward a monster room, taking a path completely different from the route to the 21st Floor shown on the map.

Although Ren Isana felt quite puzzled, he didn't ask any questions. Instead, he chose to trust Ais. After all, she had no reason to trick them, and given her personality, she would never do such a thing.

After leading the group into the monster room, Ais walked straight in and approached a wall. In the next moment, she threw a direct punch at it.

With a loud boom, the wall was instantly smashed through, revealing a pitch-black cavern to the group. Everyone couldn't help but stare in stunned silence at the sight.

"The walls regenerate every week. This is a passage leading to the lower floors, but it's a one-way trip down. Trying to come back up through here is extremely troublesome," Lefiya explained from the side.

Hearing her words, everyone suddenly understood. They all followed her inside. The pitch-black environment didn't hinder Ren Isana and the others from advancing.

The cavern wasn't very large; it could only accommodate two people walking side by side. If anyone was carrying a large backpack, they wouldn't be able to pass through here at all.

Ais walked at the very front, closely followed by Ren Isana, Asuna, and the others. The group lined up and followed Ais forward, and everyone could clearly feel how steep the path was.

It was a continuous downward slope. One careless step, and you might end up tumbling all the way down. Realizing this, Ren Isana hurriedly notified the people behind him, telling everyone to be careful.

No wonder Lefiya said it was extremely difficult to come back up. The path was far too steep. Just climbing up would be a massive hassle, and their travel speed might even be slower than taking the regular routes.

Ren Isana and the others walked through the pitch-black environment for over ten minutes before Ais, who was leading the way, came to a halt. They had reached the end of the passage.

"We're here!" As Ais's voice fell, she threw another punch, directly smashing open the wall in front of them. She stepped out, and they found themselves directly inside another monster room.

The moment they stepped out of the passage, the Dungeon gave them a pleasant surprise—the monsters in the room began to spawn.

Faced with this situation, Ren Isana didn't hesitate for a second and immediately launched an attack. As the others emerged from the passage, they swiftly joined the fray, clearing out the newly spawned monsters in the room.

After spending a little time dispatching all the monsters here, Ren Isana spoke up, "We can still use this passage when we head back. If we combine it with [Lightness Technique], it actually won't be that difficult for us."

Ren Isana voiced his thoughts. Since there was a shortcut available, why not keep using it? Although it was a bit steep, it was nothing for their group.

Practice makes perfect. By using [Lightness Technique], everyone could quickly traverse through it. Furthermore, since everyone now possessed [Perception Magic], they didn't have to worry about bumping into walls. They could walk through it with their eyes closed.

Ais paused for a moment when she heard Ren Isana say this, then nodded and said, "Alright, then we'll take this route when we head back."

Ren Isana made a lot of sense. With [Lightness Technique], this path really wasn't that hard to traverse, so taking it on the way back was perfectly viable.

"Yeah, let's get moving. That plain doesn't seem too far from this room." Ren Isana glanced around, used his [Perception Magic] to survey the surrounding terrain, and quickly pinpointed their current location.

Saying so, Ren Isana walked outside. The Magic Stones from the monsters they had just killed had already been collected by the other students.

Under Ren Isana's lead, everyone soon found the expansive plain. The total area of the 23rd Floor was already massive, so the existence of such a plain wasn't particularly shocking.

Upon reaching their destination, Ren Isana didn't rush to take action. Instead, he observed the surrounding environment. The terrain of the entire plain was relatively flat, and aside from some scattered rocks, there was nothing else.

In addition, the visibility here was extremely poor. It was so hazy that even with Ren Isana's eyesight, he could only see about ten meters ahead. Anything further was just a pitch-black void.

After observing for a while, Ren Isana spoke up, "Everyone, keep your [Perception Magic] active at all times from now on. Miss Yukinoshita, please begin your performance."

Ren Isana gave the group a quick reminder before turning to Yukino. Now it was her time to shine—time to start pulling aggro!

Hearing Ren Isana's words, everyone silently pulled out their thermos flasks, took a few heavy gulps of Blue Potion, and quietly activated their [Perception Magic]. The battle was about to begin!

At that moment, everyone activated their [Perception Magic]. Yukino Yukinoshita stepped forward and sprang into action, her weapon already gripped tightly in her hand.

Slowly, using her innate talent, she condensed that trace of divine blood into her hand. As the aura of the divine blood began to spread, the Dungeon reacted in the very next second.

Within everyone's perception, a dense swarm of monsters began to emerge from the ground, and their numbers were continuously increasing. At that moment, the entire floor seemed to tremble slightly. Noticing this, Ren Isana hurriedly called out, "Stop, Yukino! That's enough!"

As Ren Isana's voice fell, Yukino hurriedly let the divine blood disperse back to its original state. Meanwhile, the others looked at the summoned monsters and instantly grew thrilled.

The sheer number of monsters in this wave was staggering. Looking out across the plain, there had to be nearly a thousand monsters spawned this time, right?

Without any hesitation, everyone charged forward and engaged in combat with the newly spawned monsters. Ais was no exception; she led Lefiya and charged toward a skeletal, crawling monster not far away.

She recognized them—those monsters were supposed to spawn only on the deeper floors. Yet, they had spawned here this time. It was obvious that the Dungeon had produced them specifically to deal with the aura it had just sensed.

The entire battlefield was currently within Ren Isana's perception range. He saw Ais's movements and also noticed those few monsters with distinctly different auras. However, since Ais had already charged at them, Ren Isana didn't need to worry about it.

"You guys go ahead! I'll provide support from the air!" Ren Isana called out before directly taking flight. Because the Dungeon had a ceiling, Ren Isana couldn't fly too high.

But it was high enough. None of the monsters below could fly. For Ren Isana, who could take to the skies, all those monsters were nothing more than sitting ducks at this moment.

Lefiya, who was currently providing magic support, paused in shock when she saw Ren Isana take flight. He could actually fly?! This sight left Lefiya somewhat dumbfounded.

She knew very well how massive of an impact flight could have on a battlefield. Although being inside the Dungeon restricted mobility to some extent, as long as one could fly, it was a huge advantage.

Muttering to herself, Lefiya began casting [Liv Illusion]—a spell she had learned from Riveria—on Ais. In addition to Ais, a coat of light also materialized over the bodies of the others.

Watching Lefiya continuously cast spells to shield people below, Ren Isana also lent a hand. From the air, he cast shields on everyone who didn't have one yet, and then began using [Piercing Magic Bullet] to provide aerial bombardment support.

A massive monster spawn began to unfold on this floor. This sudden event startled some of the adventurers who were already on this floor, leaving them completely bewildered as to why so many monsters had suddenly appeared.

This caused the entire 23rd Floor to fall into chaos. However, the adventurers were quite experienced. After swiftly taking down a batch of monsters, they immediately started running away.

Only when they reached a safe location did they slowly begin to observe what was happening. Upon realizing that all the monsters were charging in a single direction, they hesitated for a moment before choosing to leave.

It was obvious that someone was using a special method to attract the monsters. At a time like this, it was best not to be too curious. Run over to join the fun?

If they did, the people over there might just farm them along with the monsters. Therefore, running away was the most important thing right now. Especially after hearing the explosions echoing from that direction, these adventurers ran even faster.

In just a few minutes, Ren Isana's group was the only one left on the entire 23rd Floor. Ren Isana, who had kept his [Perception Magic] active the whole time, also noticed that some of the nearby monsters were starting to be drawn toward them.

Realizing this, Ren Isana couldn't help but speak through their mental marks, "Everyone, pay attention. All the monsters on this floor have been attracted to our location. In a few minutes, even more monsters will join the battlefield."

Ren Isana's voice was transmitted to everyone's ears through the marks. Hearing this, the group responded through the marks while continuing to fight, and a chorus of acknowledgments rang out in Ren Isana's ears.

Seeing this, Ren Isana also ramped up his monster-clearing speed. Hovering in the air, Ren Isana instantly transformed into a battlefield killing machine. [Piercing Magic Bullet]s continuously fired from his hands, and every single attack instantly annihilated a monster on the spot, leaving nothing but a Magic Stone dropping to the ground!
