Chapter 117 - The Mark of a Comrade and the Crimson Sea

The night in Nami's cabin had been a whirlwind of silk and citrus—a quiet storm that finally broke the tension built up across the sands of Alabasta.

Viktor had navigated many dangerous territories as a shinobi, but none quite as intoxicating as the warmth of the navigator's embrace.

As the morning sun bleached the desert sands gold, the Going Merry had already slipped away from the harbor.

The Silent Farewell

High atop the cliffs of the Eastern Port, the wind whipped through Nefertari Vivi's hair. She stood there, breathless, having raced across the dunes on Karoo to catch a glimpse of the departing white sails.

"HEY!!! EVERYONE!!!!"

Her voice, amplified by a megaphone, echoed across the water. The crew gathered at the railing, their hearts heavy.

"I came to say goodbye!!" Vivi's voice cracked with emotion. "I can't go with you... I love this country too much! But even if I stay behind... if we ever meet again..."

She choked back a sob, her eyes searching for the friends who had saved her world.

"WILL YOU STILL CALL ME A COMRADE?!!!"

Luffy took a breath, his lungs expanding to roar back a confirmation, but Nami's hand clamped firmly over his mouth. Tears shimmered in her eyes as she shook her head.

"Don't, Luffy," she whispered.

Just beyond the port, the black-sailed ships of Marine Captain Hina were closing in. To answer her out loud would be to brand the Princess of Alabasta a criminal. To speak would be to ruin the peace they had just fought to win.

On the shore, Vivi saw their silence. Her heart sank, and the tears flowed freely. "Too much... even now, they won't answer me..."

But then, on the deck of the Merry, the crew moved in unison.

Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, and Chopper turned their backs to the shore. Even Robin stood to the side with a knowing smile, and Viktor, standing at the rear, gave a faint, approving nod.

Zip!

Every member of the crew thrust their left arm high into the air, fists clenched tight. Beneath the white bandages wrapped around their wrists, the black "X" marks—the secret signs they had drawn to foil Mr. 2's clay-mimicry—shone brilliantly in the morning light.

It was a silent vow. No matter where we are, no matter how much time passes, this is the proof of our bond.

Vivi froze. She stared at those raised arms, at the symbol of their shared struggle. A radiant smile broke through her tears, more brilliant than the desert sun. She thrust her own arm up, revealing the matching "X" on her wrist.

"I'll be watching you... forever!!!"

Setting Course for the Unknown

As the Merry pulled further into the Grand Line, leaving the Marines in its wake, Viktor leaned against the mast, feeling the cool sea breeze wash away the lingering heat of the desert.

He opened his status window. The recent chaos had been lucrative.

[Status Menu]

Host: Viktor

Current Ninjutsu Points: 4,000

Current Skills: Sharingan (3-Tomoe), Water/Fire/Lightning Style, Body Flicker, Shadow Clone, etc.

New Addition: Nico Robin (Crewmate/Archaeologist)

Viktor looked over at Robin, who was already making herself at home, and then at Nami, who was busy navigating but still shooting him "we'll finish that talk later" glances.

"4,000 points..." Viktor murmured. "It's time to move beyond the basics."

He had two paths before him. He could refine his elemental mastery to a higher tier—perhaps unlocking S-Rank Ninjutsu or Nature Transformation—or he could invest in the evolution of his eyes. The 3-Tomoe Sharingan had been a lifesaver, but in the New World and against the monsters of the Grand Line, he would eventually need the Mangekyō.

"But for now..." Viktor looked at the horizon. "We have a more pressing problem. We're heading into the territory where the very laws of physics start to break."

"Hey! Viktor!" Luffy shouted from the figurehead. "What's next? Where are we going?!"

Viktor smirked, his eyes flickering red for a brief second as he sensed a strange change in the atmospheric pressure above them.

"Up, Captain," Viktor replied, pointing a kunai toward the vast, empty sky. "I think it's about time we visited the moon."
