Chapter 29 - Part 29: The Blood of the First Keeper-

The sky above the sanctuary was silent.

Aren could not move.

The name still burned across the heavens.

CAELOR VALE.

The King of Fallen Stars lowered his hand, and the army behind him stood still.

"You know my name now," he said. "But you do not know the truth."

Liora slowly stood, her bow still in her hand.

"Don't listen to him, Aren."

But the dark king continued.

"A thousand years ago, I was chosen to guard the stars. I believed their power could end war, hunger, and suffering forever. The other Star Keepers feared that power. They betrayed me and erased my name from history."

The ancient guardian shook his head.

"That is not the whole story."

Caelor's eyes flashed with anger.

"No... because history is written by those who survive."

Aren looked from the guardian to the fallen king.

"Why tell me this?"

"Because my blood flows through you," Caelor answered. "You are the last of my family. The Starblade obeys you because it was forged for our line."

The Starblade suddenly glowed brighter.

Ancient symbols appeared across its silver edge.

A strange memory entered Aren's mind.

He saw a young Caelor standing beside a child.

Before leaving for his final battle, Caelor gave the child a small crystal star.

"Hide this," he whispered. "One day, my descendants will need it."

The vision faded.

Aren reached into the pocket inside his cloak.

His fingers touched something cold.

He pulled out the crystal star that his father had given him when he was a boy.

He had carried it his entire life.

Kael stared at it in shock.

"That's impossible."

The crystal floated into the air.

The sanctuary began to shake.

A hidden door opened beneath the Star Altar.

The ancient guardian closed his eyes.

"The Heart of the Sky..."

Liora looked down into the glowing chamber.

"What is it?"

"The source of the stars' light," the guardian replied. "If it is awakened, the kingdom can be saved... or destroyed."

Caelor stepped forward.

"Join me, Aren. Together we can rebuild the heavens."

"And if I refuse?" Aren asked.

The fallen king looked toward the battlefield where countless shadow warriors waited.

"Then the world will drown in darkness."

A deep rumble echoed from below.

The crystal star flew into the hidden chamber.

A beam of blue light shot into the sky.

Suddenly, the walls of the sanctuary disappeared.

Everyone found themselves standing beneath a universe of endless stars.

A voice, older than time itself, filled the heavens.

"Only one of Caelor's blood may claim the Heart of the Sky."

The ground split apart.

A bridge of light stretched toward a distant floating throne.

Aren took one step forward.

At the same moment, Caelor did the same.

The voice spoke again.

"One will become the Guardian of the Stars."

"The other will be forgotten forever."

The bridge began to crumble beneath their feet as they walked toward their fate.
