The silver light faded, and silence covered the ancient valley.
Aren, Lyra, Kael, and Seraph stood before the enormous crystal gate. The Star Crown floated above Aren's head, shining brighter than ever.
The Guardian's final words still echoed through the air.
"Only the one who accepts both light and darkness may open the last path."
Suddenly, the ground trembled.
A dark crack spread across the sky, and from it stepped a familiar figure.
It was Lord Varyn.
But something was wrong.
His armor was broken, his eyes glowed with strange blue fire, and behind him marched an army of shadow creatures.
"I warned you," Varyn said quietly. "The Broken Star was never our greatest enemy."
Aren tightened his grip on his sword.
"Then who is?"
Varyn slowly looked at the crystal gate.
"The one sleeping beyond it."
The air became cold.
Ancient symbols lit up across the gate, and a deep voice whispered from the darkness.
"After a thousand years... I awaken."
The crystal shattered.
A giant hand made of black starlight reached out from the opening.
Lyra stepped back in fear.
"The legends were true..."
Kael stared at the sky.
"The Star King wasn't destroyed."
Seraph's wings of light appeared.
"He was imprisoned."
The giant figure slowly emerged.
He wore a crown of broken stars, and galaxies seemed to move inside his shadow.
The world itself shook.
The mysterious king looked directly at Aren.
His voice was calm but powerful.
"You carry my crown..."
Aren raised his sword.
"I'll never let you destroy this kingdom."
The Star King smiled.
"No, child."
He pointed toward the dark sky where countless red stars were appearing.
"I am not the destroyer."
A distant roar echoed across the heavens.
One by one, the stars began to fall.
The Star King whispered,
"The Devourers have returned... and your world has only days left to live."
Aren, Lyra, Kael, Seraph, and even Lord Varyn stood in shocked silence as the first burning star crashed beyond the mountains.
The final battle was no longer between kingdoms.
It would decide the fate of the entire sky.
