(AMARI'S POV)
Rudina and I were cuddled up together when we heard the series of knocks that made us wake up with a jerk. I glanced at the digital clock on the bedside table. 6.09 a.m.
"Maybe he's back." Rudina croaked, her eyes widened and swollen, a reminder of the terrible night we had.
She was terrified and I perfectly understood because I felt the same way.
All we could think of was our brother and the trouble we had gotten him into.
The knocks came again, a little louder this time and Rudina gasped loudly at the sound.
"It's okay. I don't think it's him. He doesn't knock, remember?" I told her softly even though I could only hope that I was right. It would be torture to start the day with Talon.
"It may be Kaelen." I added, getting off the bed. "Just go back to sleep, okay? I'll go check it out and be right back."
Rudina held the covers up to her chin and nodded at me but I knew she wasn't going back to sleep. She would wait until she was sure of who was at the door.
