The drive up north felt like it took forever. Harrison kept his foot pressed firmly down on the gas pedal, steering the car through the winding dirt roads that led deep into the forest line. Nobody inside the vehicle spoke. The only sound was the constant rolling of the tires over the dry leaves and dirt.
Julius kept his eyes fixed on the passing trees, his hands clamping together in his lap. His heart was beating right against his ribs. Every single turn they took felt familiar now, pulling up old memories of his father that had been buried away for years.
"We are getting close," Marcus said from the front seat, his eyes glued to the glowing map on his laptop screen. "The tracking signals show Daniel's main convoy has already blocked off the highway behind us. If Xavier or Selene try to bring a large group down this path, our men will intercept them before they can even reach the tree line."
