The serpent crushed Ronan's heart.
Aura watched it happen from across the chamber, her vision blurry.
She watched the light in Ronan's eyes vanish.

Mesmer's voice filtered through Paula's ruined corpse, sounding rather pleased with himself.
Aura snarled.

The word echoed through her mind, far more prevalent than the pain radiating through her chest.
Paula's body finally collapsed, the possession severing as Mesmer withdrew the connection completely.
The chamber fell silent.
Aura forced herself upright, shoving aside debris and dirt. Her horns ached, high usage of demonic energy being the reason. Every movement felt like dragging herself through broken glass.
But she moved anyway, towards Ronan.
Because of the contract.
That was the only reason.
She told herself that as she limped toward Ronan's body, ignoring the pain in her body.
