Chapter 86 - Letters and crown

I hesitated before answering, my fingers twisting gently in the fabric of his shirt.

"I… I truly don't know, Draven," I admitted softly. "When she came to me, she looked so broken and vulnerable — like someone carrying far too heavy a weight alone. I wanted so badly to believe her, to give her that chance to make things right… yet every word she spoke only twists itself tighter inside my head. Nothing feels settled, and I cannot tell where truth ends and hiding begins."

A long, heavy sigh rumbled deep in his chest against mine. He shifted just enough to look down at me, his expression serious and sharp in the dim light — no trace of teasing left now.
