The cool night breeze swept through the courtyard as we stepped deeper into the grounds.
This wasn't the pristine, grand garden of princesses and monsters at the front of the palace.
This corner was hidden away, a bit wild and messy, with long leafy carrot tops bursting from the dark soil and several fluffy rabbits scurrying through the overgrown grass, their white tails bobbing under the moonlight.
A bright, genuine smile broke across my face at the sight. I looked up at Draven, my eyes wide with excitement.
"Can I harvest the carrots and feed the rabbits?"
"No,"
Draven replied flatly, his long strides carrying him straight past the patches.
"I am here to see the view, not touch anything."
I hurried my steps to keep up with him, pulling gently on his heavy sleeve.
"Oh, don't be so boring, Draven. Do something nice with me for once."
"I am ensuring you stay healthy,"
he countered smoothly, his tone unyielding as he glanced down at the damp earth.
