Chapter 68 - ...A sword

I didn't answer.

Draven stood in front of me, waiting.

The silence stretched.

My thoughts felt tangled.

Draven studied me for another second.

Then sighed.

Not annoyed.

Just tired.

"Your foresight still says nothing?"

I stared at the blanket.

Pretending.

Pretending my strange ability was still working.

Pretending I knew something.

Pretending I wasn't shaken.

A long pause followed.

Then Draven spoke again.

"Fine."

His voice softened slightly.

"Don't move from this bed."

I finally looked up.

He was already turning toward the door.

"I'm getting Elara."

My chest tightened unexpectedly.

Draven opened the door.

Then stopped.

Glanced back.

The look he gave me was unmistakable.

Stay.

I nodded.

The door closed behind him.

Silence settled.

Five seconds passed.

Ten.

Then—

I threw the blanket aside.

Absolutely not.

I slid off the bed.

My legs still felt weak, but stubbornness was stronger.

Much stronger.

The corridor was empty when I slipped outside.
