Adam looked at Steve. Maria stood beside him, while Sam was a short distance away with his wings ready.
Adam turned toward Sam. "I am not carrying you."
Sam looked at him in surprise. "When did I ask you to carry me?"
He opened his wings and caught Steve by the arm. The engines on the wing pack lifted both of them from the ground, and Sam started flying toward the building.
Adam struck the Omnitrix again. Green light covered his body as he changed into Big Chill. His body became thinner, while wings formed behind him.
Maria stood beside him and watched the new transformation. She knew Adam could disappear and create crystals. This form was new to her, so she could not tell what he was about to do.
Adam held out his hand. "Are you afraid of heights?"
Maria looked at his hand. Before she could answer, Adam caught her hand and flew upward.
"Adam!" Maria shouted as her feet left the ground.
Adam kept hold of her and flew beside Sam. He followed the same direction while keeping away from the soldiers below. Whenever Sam changed his path, Adam moved with him so Maria would not be carried toward the agents guarding the base.
Maria looked down once before tightening her grip on his arm. Adam continued toward the roof until Sam began to descend.
Sam landed with Steve. Adam came down beside them and released Maria after her feet touched the roof.
He pressed the Omnitrix without waiting. Big Chill's form disappeared under another flash of green light. Adam grew a little taller as his body changed into Lodestar. His body grew a little longer. The amount of muscle stayed the same as it had been in Big Chill. The green light stayed around him for a few seconds before fading.
'Lodestar.' Adam thought.
He did not say the name aloud. Shouting an alien name like an anime attack would have been too embarrassing.
Adam faced the way inside. "Stay behind me."
He started running, and the others followed him into the building.
Soldiers noticed them soon after they entered. Their guns turned toward Adam before he could reach the end of the passage.
Adam stretched both hands toward the walls. He could feel the metal wires hidden inside them. Lodestar let him sense the wires, so he caught them with his power and pulled.
The walls broke open. Thick wires came out from both sides and moved toward the soldiers like snakes.
The soldiers tried to fire, but the wires reached their legs and curled around them. The metal continued moving upward until their arms were trapped against their bodies. Adam kept the wires moving until every soldier in front of them had been caught. The coils began at their legs and climbed across the rest of their bodies, leaving no space for them to aim their guns.
Adam lifted his hands while he kept running. The wires tightened until the soldiers could no longer move. The bound soldiers rose from the floor and remained hanging against the walls.
'My control improves whenever I spend more time using an alien.' Adam thought.
Lodestar had been difficult to control when Adam first unlocked it. This time, the metal reacted sooner whenever he moved his hands. He did not need to stop and focus on every wire.
Sam caught up with him. "You can barely keep up when we go jogging. How are you running this fast now?"
Adam heard him and paid attention to his own movement. Lodestar's power was pulling him forward whenever his feet left the floor.
The metal around him was helping him move. Each time Adam pushed forward, his electromagnetic power pulled his body toward the metal ahead. He used the next pull before the previous one fully ended, which allowed him to keep his speed while running.
'So Lodestar can use magnetic force to increase speed.' Adam thought.
More agents came into view and raised their guns. Adam kept running as he pointed one hand toward them.
The gun barrels bent inward under his power. Adam kept the metal folded even when the agents fought against the force. Several of them still pulled their triggers.
The bullets struck the closed barrels instead of leaving the weapons. The guns burst in their hands, and the force threw the agents backward. Their injured hands opened on their own as the damaged weapons fell.
Maria ran past them and looked at Adam. "That is convenient."
Adam did not slow down.
They soon reached the broadcast room. A locked metal gate stood between them and the controls inside.
Adam placed one hand against the gate. He felt the lock through the metal and moved it from inside. The gate opened.
His other hand was already raised. Pieces of metal that he had gathered on the way were spinning around his palm. He forced them to move faster until their surfaces began turning red.
The soldiers inside looked toward the opening gate. Adam kept the spinning pieces close until the opening was wide enough. He moved his raised hand before they could aim their weapons.
The hot metal pieces shot into the room. Some struck the soldiers in the chest, while the rest hit places that would not kill them. The force knocked them down, and the shock left them unconscious.
A few soldiers remained awake after the attack. The injuries slowed them as they tried to lift their guns again.
Adam closed his hand. Their gun barrels folded shut before they could fire.
The soldiers stopped when they saw what had happened to their weapons. Steve entered the room as Adam stepped out of his way.
Adam turned toward Steve and lowered one hand in invitation. "You can come inside now."
Steve walked to the communication controls. He switched on the system that connected to the rest of the building, then moved in front of the microphone.
His voice passed through the speakers across the base.
"My name is Steve Rogers."
