Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Divine God Realm + Ultra Instinct

Whether in the Realm of the Kai or the Realm of the Destruction, items like the Fruit of the Tree of Might were common enough to be considered clutter.

However, their effects varied wildly depending on the consumer. For an ordinary human like Bulma, eating one would likely boost her power level to around 10,000.

A power level of 10,000 was more than enough for flight—in fact, it was enough to let her personally destroy a planet!

"Go ahead, Bulma. Give it a try," Gran said, giving her an encouraging look.

"Okay." Bulma glanced at Beerus and Whis. Since neither of the two high deities objected, she figured it was safe. She took a crisp bite of the fruit.

Snap!

The next second—Boom!—A massive surge of energy erupted from her. Her aura flared with the intensity of roughly 10,000 battle power.

"My body... it feels so tight!" Bulma gasped. As she spoke, her frame suddenly expanded, her muscles swelling until she looked like a 200-pound Amazonian bodybuilder.

"Hahaha!" Gran couldn't help himself. Seeing a fashion-conscious girl like Bulma suddenly turn into a hulking "tank" was too much. He doubled over, clutching his stomach in laughter.

Beerus was equally amused, but as a dignified God of Destruction, he fought to keep a straight face, his shoulders shaking with suppressed mirth.

"Stop laughing! What's happening to me?" Bulma cried out in a panic. She felt like a balloon being overinflated, fearing she might pop at any moment.

"That's the price for wanting to fly without training," Gran wheezed. "Don't worry, your body will return to normal once you digest the energy." Without further explanation, he turned and followed Beerus toward the dining room.

"Lord Gran! What am I supposed to do right now?" Bulma shouted at his back, nearly in tears. When he didn't answer, she stomped her foot in frustration. But with her power suddenly skyrocketing, she had zero control; her foot went straight through the solid ground, burying itself in the foundation.

Bulma froze, slowly pulling her leg out of the crater. She stared at the footprint in shock. Is this... my power? She wasn't slow; she realized she truly possessed the strength to fly now. "Stupid Gran... he could have warned me about the side effects. But how do I actually take off?" Confused and heavy-footed, she gingerly made her way toward the dining room.

As she entered, a servant approached. "Excuse me, Ma'am... are you here for the bodyguard position?"

Bulma's temper flared. She pointed at her face. "Bodyguard? It's me! Don't you recognize your own boss?"

She huffed past the bewildered servant into the room. Behind her, she heard the servant mutter, "That's strange... since when did Miss Bulma become a professional wrestler?" Bulma stumbled, her foot punching another hole through the dining room floor.

"I'll pay for the repairs later!" she barked, her face flushed red as she took her seat at the table.

The table was a mountain of delicacies. Gran and little Broly were already at it, eating like starving demons, vacuuming up plate after plate. Since Beerus and Whis had become frequent visitors to Earth over the last two years, their manners were slightly more refined, though no less enthusiastic.

Bulma sat there, chin resting on her massive, muscular palm, watching the deities feast. After an hour, Gran finally slowed down. As he reached for a drink, Bulma couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Lord Gran, how do I fly? Seriously."

"Once you adapt to the power, just focus it beneath your feet. You'll float," Gran explained in layman's terms. "Right now, you have the energy but none of the control. Once the swelling goes down, your body will have acclimated. Of course, since you've never trained, your ki control will be as crude and messy as the thugs in deep space."

He took a sip of his drink. "Crude?" Bulma pouted. "And what exactly is 'ki'?"

"In simple terms, it's your life force or your power. That surge you felt after eating the fruit? That's ki. You're not a martial artist, so you don't need the technical details. Just give it time, and flight will become as natural as walking." Gran paused, then looked up with a smirk. "Just be careful. Your current power is enough to threaten the entire planet. If you don't want to accidentally blow up Earth, I suggest you move very, very gently for a while."

Bulma stared at her hands in horror. I'm... that strong?

Beerus stopped eating and let out a cold snort. "If you crack my favorite food-source planet, you'll answer to me!"

"Fine, fine. Whis, be a pal and give her a weighted suit too," Gran suggested.

Whis nodded and tapped his staff. A set of bulky, high-gravity clothes—identical to Gran's—materialized on Bulma. The sudden shift in weight was the final straw; the chair beneath her shattered, and she flopped face-first onto the floor.

"With that suit on, you'll be forced to master your power just to move," Gran laughed. He wasn't trying to make her a warrior; Bulma was a genius scientist, not a fighter. The suit was just a shortcut to help her control the 10,000 battle power so she didn't accidentally level West City.

"It's... so... heavy... Gran, help me up!" Bulma whimpered from the floor. But Gran had already turned back to his dinner, as had Beerus and Whis.

"Cruel gods... the lot of you!" she grumbled, slowly pushing herself up.

Two hours later, the feast concluded. Beerus stood up and looked at Gran. "Step outside. I want to see exactly what those two years of training produced."

Gran sighed. He just wants an excuse to hit me. Nonetheless, he followed. Whis, knowing a clash was inevitable, led the way, while little Broly chased after them with a chicken leg in his hand. Even Bulma dragged her weighted body out into the courtyard to watch the show.

"Mr. Whis," Bulma panted, leaning against a pillar. "Lord Gran is wearing that incredibly heavy suit. Can he actually fight Lord Beerus like that?"

"He certainly cannot win," Whis replied with a calm smile.

"Then why doesn't he take it off?"

"Do you really think taking off the suit would be enough to defeat Lord Beerus?" Whis pulled out an hourglass. "While Gran's progress is impressive, one does not simply surpass a true God of Destruction in a few years."

In the center of the yard, Beerus's eyes glinted. "Take off the suit, Gran. You've been training your raw power in that thing for two years; I have high expectations."

Gran looked at Whis, who nodded. With a snap of Whis's fingers, the gravity suit vanished. The moment the weight was gone, a terrifying, divine pressure erupted from Gran, radiating outward like a physical shockwave.

Beerus tightened his fists and glanced at Whis. The boy's base power broke through as well? Whis didn't answer, merely narrowing his eyes with a knowing smile.

"Come at me," Gran said, his body feeling as light as a feather. He beckoned Beerus with a flick of his wrist.

"Cheeky brat! You're asking for it!" Beerus laughed, lunging forward.

The two took to the sky, and the atmosphere became suffocating. "Go, Lord Gran!" Bulma cheered. "Kick his butt, Gran!" Broly added, his voice high and shrill.

Beerus felt a twinge of jealousy. Why is everyone cheering for him? Even Whis joined in, teasingly shouting, "Go for it, Gran! See if you can actually knock him down!"

"You people!!" Beerus roared, his gaze snapping back to Gran with terrifying intensity.

He moved. At that exact microsecond, the sand in Whis's hourglass began to flow. A streak of purple light tore through the air as Beerus threw a punch. "Show me everything you've got!"

"Let's finish the warm-up first!" Gran banked backward and charged. He met Beerus's strike in his base form, a streak of white light clashing against the purple.

CRACK!

The collision sent shockwaves through the atmosphere. The peaceful sky shattered like glass, the firmament seemingly splintering into a thousand shards.

"So... incredible!" Bulma gasped. She had seen them spar before, but the sheer scale of the impact never ceased to amaze her.

"Almost there," Whis murmured. "His base power is just a hair's breadth away from the first stage of the God Realm."

Previously, Gran needed his Ultra Instinct transformation to reach the divine level. Now, his normal state was nearly there.

"Hah! Two years in that suit and your base form is pushing the God Realm? Whis didn't lie; he really did set you up for success!" Beerus shouted over the roar of their clashing fists.

"Again, Lord Beerus!" Gran was surprised by his own strength. He had been so focused on the Laws of Destruction that he hadn't realized how much his physical power had swelled.

Purple and white light tangled in the sky, moving from the North Pole to the South Pole in seconds. Tectonic plates groaned, volcanoes erupted, and the seas surged. To the average observer, it looked like the end of the world.

"Exhilarating!" Gran dodged a hook and countered with a lightning-fast punch to the gut. The impact created a storm of destruction, lightning bolts raining from the blackened sky. But Beerus was a veteran; he blocked the strike with his forearm, neutralizing the force into the void.

"Not bad, brat!" Beerus shoved him back. Gran retreated dozens of meters, breathing slightly hard. "Done warming up? Use your full power."

"Don't be in such a rush!" Gran's body felt a bit "rusty" after so much time without a real opponent. He vanished from sight.

"Too slow!" Beerus turned his body, whipping his tail like a steel lash. It caught Gran right in the shoulder as he reappeared. With a cry of pain, Gran was sent spiraling downward, crashing straight into a pool of subterranean magma.

"Lord Gran!" Bulma screamed, watching the projection.

"Don't worry," Whis said. "Magma is nothing to him. Even a black hole couldn't threaten him now." He peered at the projection, noticing a change in the magma's glow. "Oh? It looks like he's done playing around."

Whis checked the hourglass. A minute and a half left.

Suddenly—BOOM!—a pillar of silver light erupted from the volcanic depths. Gran shot upward, his silver hair shimmering. He had entered his ultimate state:
