Chapter 791: The True Ocean, Swimsuits Are One of the Greatest Inventions
"If everyone on Rhodes Island, or everyone on the entire Terra continent, belonged to me, I wouldn't mind helping you clear up all your problems."
Those were Ren's exact words.
They hung in the air of the conference room, heavy and suffocating, leaving Amiya and the senior operators completely stunned. Their minds blanked, struggling to process the sheer weight of the declaration.
By the time they snapped out of their daze, Ren was already gone. He had casually strolled out the door with Skadi, Specter, and Gladiia in tow. W, looking entirely out of her depth, had scrambled after them immediately.
The silence left behind in the conference room was deafening.
Ren's meaning was crystal clear. He wanted the absolute human rights of the Infected once their Oripathy was cured. He wanted ownership. It was, in no uncertain terms, a demand for them to sell themselves to him.
Amiya pressed her lips together into a thin, bloodless line. Her hands gripped the edge of the table. Even if she desperately wanted to bring peace to this shattered land, she had absolutely no right to barter away the freedom and human rights of others.
Hoshiguma and Gravel sat quietly off to the side. They kept their mouths shut, fully aware they had no right to speak on the matter. They were the unearned beneficiaries of this entire situation. They had simply stood there, done absolutely nothing, offered nothing in return, and had their terminal Oripathy completely eradicated as a mere test of Ren's power.
The joy of having their death sentences lifted was natural, bubbling warmly in their chests. But looking at their still-suffering companions... they couldn't bring themselves to say a single boastful or sarcastic word.
Askalon broke the silence. Her brows furrowed sharply as she turned her gaze toward the head of the medical department. "Kaltsit, what... what exactly is going on with you?"
Everyone in the room had seen it. They had all witnessed Kaltsit's uncharacteristically obedient, almost pet-like demeanor toward Ren just moments ago.
Kaltsit's usually unflappable face was ashen. Her jaw tightened before she finally spoke, her voice lacking its usual authoritative bite. "After I met him previously, I mortgaged myself to him. It was the only way to obtain true information regarding his identity."
A collective jolt ran through the room.
Who would have ever imagined that the very first person to sell herself to this mysterious man would be the cold, calculating Kaltsit? And all just to gather intel?
The Doctor suddenly slammed her hands onto the table, shooting up from her chair. "Kaltsit, quickly tell us what information you got! Do you have any nude photos of Ren?! Slurp, slurp~"
The Doctor's remark was spectacularly, horrifyingly inappropriate.
A collective groan echoed through the room as several operators helplessly massaged their temples. The Doctor's sanity had clearly hit rock bottom again.
Kaltsit slowly turned her head. Her icy, bone-chilling glare locked onto the Doctor, practically freezing the commanding officer into a solid block of ice.
Ignoring the interruption, Kaltsit looked back up at the young Cautus leader. "Amiya, what I can tell you is this. His power is far beyond anything Terra can even begin to imagine. He can easily, and freely, rewrite the rules of this entire world." She paused, her green eyes dimming slightly. "As for the rest... it is entirely up to you to decide."
Whether it was due to her official identity as a leader of Rhodes Island, or her current compromised situation requiring her to avoid suspicion, Kaltsit firmly believed Amiya needed to make this choice herself.
Amiya's ears drooped slightly. Her mind was a chaotic storm. Even Kaltsit had submitted...
"Amiya."
FrostNova's cool, steady voice cut through the tension. "Regarding Ren, I do not know what the rest of you think. But in my eyes, he is a good person."
Beside her, the towering figure of Patriot gave a slow, heavy nod. "Lord Ren is trustworthy."
The ancient Wendigo offered his own rumbling insight. "Sir Kaltsit's information is accurate. Lord Ren possesses the power to easily subjugate the entire Terra continent by force. Yet, he has not done so. Instead, he has given others the right to choose." The red glow of his eyes swept across the room. "Such an existence should not be judged with the basest of thoughts."
Hoshiguma's eyes widened slightly in realization. Patriot was right. Ren could have just crushed them all and taken what he wanted. But he hadn't. He seemed to have zero interest in actually ruling this miserable land.
Amiya took in the weight of everyone's opinions. She closed her eyes, plunging into a long period of solitary contemplation. The room waited with bated breath.
Finally, Amiya opened her eyes. The uncertainty was gone, replaced by a hardened resolve.
"Everyone, I plan to do this..."
"What exactly are you planning to do?!"
W was losing her mind.
She had followed closely behind Ren, refusing to let him out of her sight, tracking him all the way to Skadi's dormitory.
Upon entering the sterile metal room, she had just stood there, staring blankly as Ren casually flirted with the three deadliest Abyssal Hunters as if they were ordinary girls at a bar.
Ren paused his conversation, turning his attention to the silver-haired hunter. "Do you want to see the ocean of my world?"
"The ocean of Ren's world?" Curiosity sparked in Specter's beautiful eyes. She leaned in closer. "I want to know."
Skadi tilted her head, her long white hair shifting over her shoulder. "Does the ocean where Ren is have Seaborn?"
"No. Generally speaking, it's pretty difficult for oceans in other worlds to spawn those disgusting things from your deep sea."
Ren raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
The space inside the cramped metal dormitory violently warped.
"...Sea breeze?"
The keen-sensed Gladiia immediately caught the shift. She tasted the familiar dampness in the air, the sharp, salty tang of a true ocean breeze.
"This is..."
She looked into the distance, her aristocratic composure shattering.
A brilliant, warm sun hung in a boundless blue sky. Endless azure waves rolled toward them, crashing gently with a rhythmic, soothing sound. White seabirds soared gracefully above the water, their cries echoing in the open air.
The cold, hard metal floor beneath their boots had vanished, replaced by soft, delicate golden sand that shifted perfectly under their weight.
"This is the sea!" Gladiia let out a startled, breathless cry. "The sea? Is it truly this beautiful?"
W stood completely dumbfounded. Her jaw hung slack.
She had never seen the sea in her entire life. But more —weren't they just in a dormitory?!
She whipped her head around in a panic. Standing completely alone on the pristine golden beach, looking utterly ridiculous, was the metal door of Skadi's dormitory. It was just a door, framed by nothing but empty air and sunshine.
"Ren, what's going on?" Specter blinked, trying to process the impossible reality shifting around her.
"You can simply understand this as the ocean, blue sky, and white clouds from a world I created," Ren said casually, stretching his arms over his head.
"Simply understand... How is this simple, hey!!!"
W was officially going crazy. What did she just hear? Create a world? Could even a god do something this absurdly casual?
Gladiia gazed deeply at Ren. She stared at him for a long, silent minute before she finally lowered her head, her voice trembling with raw emotion. "Ren, your power is so immense that words cannot express my reverence."
"If words cannot express it, then let's try another way."
Ren grinned, a wicked glint flashing in his eyes.
With a lazy wave of his hand, three small bundles of fabric materialized out of thin air, dropping neatly into the hands of Skadi, Specter, and Gladiia.
The three Abyssal Hunters opened the bundles, looking at the tiny scraps of material in utter confusion.
"These are swimsuits," Ren explained smoothly. "Absolutely essential for any beach outing. Put them on."
W stared at the incredibly revealing garments. Suspicion and disbelief warred in her chest. "Are swimsuits nowadays really this daring?"
What shocked the mercenary even more was what happened next. The three proud, lethal Abyssal Hunters didn't even hesitate. They simply nodded and began stripping off their heavy combat gear right there on the sand.
A few moments later, the transformation was complete.
"Indeed," Ren praised repeatedly, his eyes roaming over the three women with unabashed appreciation. "You only do justice to your perfect bodies when you wear swimsuits. Truly, one of humanity's greatest inventions."
"As long as Ren likes it." Specter giggled, doing a slow twirl to generously display her figure in the skimpy fabric.
"Um... I want to go into the sea..." Skadi scratched her cheek, her voice dropping to a soft whisper.
She had wanted to dive into the water the second it appeared. It was a biological instinct, crying out from her very DNA. And it wasn't just her. Gladiia and Specter felt the exact same pull. The ocean was their true home, and this sea was pure, calm, and entirely free of the Seaborn taint.
The moment Ren gave a casual nod of approval, the three hunters practically sprinted across the sand, splashing happily into the crystal-clear seawater.
Ren chuckled. He snapped his fingers again, conjuring a luxurious beach chair, a large umbrella, and a cold drink. He dropped into the chair, leaning back with a satisfied sigh to enjoy the view.
Beside him, a completely bewildered W stood frozen on the sand. She stared at the god-like being lounging in a beach chair, then at the three deadliest warriors of Terra splashing in the waves like children.
She stood there for a long, agonizing time before she finally couldn't help but scream, "What exactly are you planning to do?!"
