Beta Tester 6585 was quick to discover that they were trapped within a game that had a game. Discovering the inconsistencies that existed with the facility, rather quickly, with the first one being the limits to just how far out the facility itself went. They managed to travel to the edge of it before the beta test had even started in the first place. Though it took them some time, they were able to reach and come back before then. At the time, they just cocked it up to them being in a remote area, that's why it looked like that. However, once enough time had passed, that's when they started getting suspicious and started tracking things for themselves. Only took three days to prove it once they had, as that was the limit one could go without water after all. Once they went past that limit, they found out rather quickly the truth.
All ten thousand and nine of them were trapped within this game world that had its own game world. Avelon was The Decagon; it was merely a part of it, as the facility itself was the true overall game. Those of the facility wing/starting are 02, who were largely explorers that did so for various reasons, which split into what seem to be the same major factions that most of the other nine did themselves. That being said, two major factions formed: those who were mere beta testers/players and those who became bandits, basically. Various types of player killers existed, but they were also split into the same two major factions. When it came down to it, though, it was mostly just one willingness to seriously and purposefully harm another.
Beyond that, it was mostly a divide between true and pro explorers of various rates. Interestingly enough, the second wing/area of The Decagon became one where most of those there were explorers more than anything else. Learning and mapping out not just their own section of the overall game itself, but stretching out into all the other areas as well. This was not the only place where explorers of both types existed; however, it was where the majority of them originated from in the largest numbers.
Beta Tester 6585 realized that what they thought was just the edge of the facility was just an insanely well designed inivisble wall that was in place. The facility itself was, in sense, also a game world; thus, it was not endless. There was an edge that one could reach. Beta Tester 6585 and those with their wing/area were the ones who discovered their own first; many would go on to do the same for the other areas. Traveling the facility as it grasps their attention more than a massive continent size island that the starting area 02 was. It was far easier for them to go to the other wings of the facility than it was to other regions of the Avelon. Getting there required developing sailing knowledge, as there were no flying vehicles to their knowledge within Avelon, so sailing was the only option.
That was a limit that was imposed on them, as they actually had to be good at sailing; otherwise, they would eventually just respawn back on the main island if they were lucky. That was one of the massive risks of leaving for other regions, as if they wreck their vessel while venturing towards another region. The system that prevents them from getting stuck in a death loop would send them somewhere, but if they were close to one of the scattered, smaller islands that dotted the waters, that would become their new respawn point until they either managed to make it back to the mainland (in this case, the main island) or another region. Also, if the vessel were wrecked, they were just given another one; they had to make another one instead. Thus, some who got shipwrecked like that would end up stopping playing Avelon, as they were on isolated and/or deserted islands with no way off them. Of course, some just look at their scenario and think challenge accepted. Although not everyone thought like that, that is what caused some to just become beta testers who explored the facility instead.
What vast waters did give birth to that was unique as well, as a massive starting point for various waters of Avelon was pirates. All kinds as well, as there were the traditional pirates that were basically just like the real ones. Not the fictional or fantasized one, but as they actually were for the most part historically. Then there were the ones that were basically that type that everyone normally thinks of whenever the word pirates pops up. Then there were the rare exceptions that did not care about anything but being free and would defend the freedom of anyone that they held close and terrorize anyone that threatened that freedom.
They sailed the waters without a set destination in mind most of the time, as they were just in for the travel, the thrill, the hunt, the money, the fame, or numerous other reasons for doing so. There were pirates that plundered and those that did not. Though ships were interesting vessels, as they were things that docked at any settlement, however, those who were on board, if they were player killers of any kind, were not allowed to leave the ship itself. As the ship itself was not banned from docking at any settlement, even if the owner was. Thus, this was how some player killers who were stuck in various places got out of those places, as even if there was a settlement where they were on one of the small islands, not just in the second region, but any of the other nine. They were barred from entry; thus, they got on any vessel they could to take their chances that they would be getting on the right kind. There were those who took advantage of this as a result of them having nowhere else to go after all. Since they would only have a handful of options, and most of them would not look good if they got on the wrong type of vessel for the type of player they were.
