Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Deviation of Memory

In the outer hall, Hanya removed her trousers and waited for Kanzaki's diagnosis.

Her legs looked flawless at first glance, yet they carried hidden ailments left behind by Rahu's devouring.

"Pardon me."

Kanzaki took a specialized knife and a sampling needle. He made a small incision on Hanya's thigh to draw blood, then stood up and entered his private laboratory.

For the past two years, Xueyi had taken Hanya to see many renowned doctors and tried countless treatment methods. They had even sought help from Vidyadhara healers skilled in cloudhymn healing, but every attempt ended with helpless shakes of the head.

Now that they had come to Kanzaki, all they could do was wait patiently.

A full hour later, Kanzaki finally emerged from the laboratory, immediately drawing the sisters' attention.

Seeing the expression on his face, the two were stunned at first. Then hope began to bloom in their eyes.

Kanzaki was different from all the healers they had seen before.

He did not shake his head or frown. Instead, he seemed lost in thought.

"How is it, Lord Kanzaki?"

Kanzaki did not answer right away. A memory from his past life briefly surfaced in his mind.

The Ten Stonehearts. The previous Obsidian.

Back then, Obsidian had suffered from severe aftereffects caused by an artificial life extension. Every night, he endured unbearable agony.

After thorough examination and research, Kanzaki had determined that Obsidian's condition was connected to the Power of Abundance.

Coincidentally, it bore a sixty to seventy percent similarity to Hanya's current leg condition.

Kanzaki suspected that Obsidian had extended his life back then by acquiring items infused with the Power of Abundance through special means and absorbing that power directly.

Without receiving a proper blessing from Abundance, no one could predict what would happen to a body that absorbed external Abundance power.

If his guess was correct, then one could only say that Obsidian had been truly bold.

That man had never been fearless out of mere ignorance.

With the experience of studying Obsidian's symptoms from his previous life as a foundation, and now as a long-lived species blessed by Abundance himself, Kanzaki possessed a much deeper understanding of the Power of Abundance.

A way to cure Hanya's condition no longer seemed out of reach.

"Hmm… It might be treatable."

"Really?!"

Before Hanya could speak, Xueyi reacted first. She stepped closer to Kanzaki, her face filled with pleasant surprise.

"Please treat my younger sister, Lord Kanzaki. As long as you can heal her legs, I will pay any price!"

"There is no need to make it sound so grave." Kanzaki waved his hand, urging her to calm down.

Hanya held her sister's hand tightly, suppressing the joy rising in her heart.

"Please do not hesitate, Lord Kanzaki. I long to return to the battlefield. No matter how difficult or painful the treatment may be, I will not back down."

Kanzaki could understand why Hanya yearned for it so deeply. After a moment of thought, he said,

"Come here tomorrow after nightfall to take the first dose of medicine. I need to monitor the effects in real time. Tonight will not work. Some of the medicinal ingredients still need time to prepare."

"Understood. Then Hanya and I will not disturb you any longer, Lord Kanzaki. We will trouble you again tomorrow."

Kanzaki did not see them out and simply let them leave.

He took out a mobile phone he rarely used on the Xianzhou and placed an urgent order with the Interastral Peace Corporation.

Early the next morning, the Corporation's delivery staff arrived with the goods intact.

Seeing those familiar medicinal ingredients, Kanzaki's thoughts drifted away. They returned to the planet where he had lived for over a hundred years in his first life.

Some memories had grown a little blurry, but this should be the right time period.

These ingredients originated from that world, though other worlds possessed them as well.

Jingliu woke up and headed out for her usual special training.

She was highly self-disciplined. Even without Kanzaki watching over her, she would not slack off.

Feeling at ease, Kanzaki immersed himself in the laboratory, searching his memories from hundreds of years ago for the medicine compounding process.

It went smoothly.

In less than an hour, he had successfully recreated the inhibitory drug he had once developed.

He wanted to record how the inhibitory drug affected Hanya's condition, then use that data to create a new treatment plan and new medications.

Taking biology as an elective during his past life as a short-lived species had proven very useful.

At that thought, Kanzaki's expression suddenly froze. A strange, inexplicable feeling flashed through his heart.

It felt like a daze… like something was missing.

Strange. Why couldn't he remember why he had chosen biology as an elective? Had too much time passed?

After thinking hard for a while, Kanzaki gradually recalled some minor details.

When he was a child and nearly died in a deep pit filled with rotting corpses, a woman had appeared and saved him just in time.

Although the memory was very blurry, the person who saved him should have been the renowned senior, Yu Qingtu.

A famous pharmacist of the Genius Society, she had an eccentric personality but was knowledgeable in biology.

"I remember now."

When he was very young, Yu Qingtu had taught him for a period of time. Back then, he had wanted to become her disciple, but she refused, saying she did not take students.

Even so, a genius's casual decision to impart knowledge was enough to benefit someone for a lifetime.

Afterward, he had always respected Yu Qingtu as a senior.

Kanzaki did not realize at all that the brain's automatic repair of certain blank memories could cause such deviations in recollection.

But then again, he did not need to realize it.

That night, the inseparable sisters arrived right on time. They happened to see Kanzaki carrying Jingliu back from the training grounds.

Having learned from the previous night and understanding Kanzaki's situation, Xueyi stepped forward to help without being asked.

Everything proceeded just like the night before.

Witnessing once again the miraculous speed at which Jingliu's injuries recovered after the medicinal bath, Xueyi buried her curiosity deep in her heart and asked no questions.

She knew why they had come.

Kanzaki did not delay either. He handed the inhibitory drug to Hanya for her to take.

After Hanya consumed it, she went with Xueyi to the training grounds to spar. They used the simplest method to test the medicine's effectiveness.

Roughly three minutes later, Hanya could no longer steady her lower body. She showed a flaw that no Cloud Knight should have and began to fall toward the ground.

Fortunately, Xueyi was quick enough to catch her by the waist.

Kanzaki performed an on-the-spot diagnosis. He inserted needles into several acupuncture points on Hanya's legs, then signaled for them to continue after removing the needles.

This time, the loss of control in Hanya's legs occurred five minutes later.

Kanzaki applied the needles once more.

The third round of sparring lasted nearly nine minutes.

"That's enough."

Kanzaki already had a clear idea. He returned to the house and shared his preliminary conclusions with the two sisters.

"It can be cured, but the treatment process will be lengthy. It will require nightly acupuncture sessions for three years. If the treatment is interrupted for too long, the symptoms will return and extend the overall course."

Three years was nothing more than the blink of an eye for a long-lived species.

However, the words "every night" posed the greatest issue.

Kanzaki's main role was not that of a healer. He was a Cloud Knight Vanguard who frequently went on expeditions to suppress Abominations.

Realizing this, the joy that had just appeared on Xueyi and Hanya's faces quickly turned to hesitation.

"I believe you have also realized the inconvenience, so…"

Kanzaki paused and met their eyes.

"During this period, I will have to trouble Hanya to serve as my personal guard."

"It's no trouble at all! I can do it too, and I will never hold you back, Lord Kanzaki!" Xueyi immediately knelt on one knee and lowered her head without the slightest hesitation.

Kanzaki thought for a moment and gave a small nod of approval. "Very well."
