Chapter 4 - Gone

On the edge of the town of Xi's a cliff was present shadowing the water below it.

The cliff was filled with greenery, though the strange part was not the cliff itself, it was the house that could be seen above the cliff. Completely isolated from the rest of the town.

On the side of the house, the clash of steel could be heard, and the silhouettes of two figures could be seen dancing around each other in their own deadly stride.

Leom walked onto the cliff holding the newborn, he did not seem surprised by the sound of steel clashing...He stopped a distance away looking at the two silhouettes..

One of them had white hair, the other black. In truth that seemed to be their only difference, they both had the same eye catching features, green eyes, with a pale complexion and eye catching faces.

"Elia, Aniya, Im back!" Leom shouted

The silhouettes stopped their clash and immediately ran towards the man.

"Father!" the two shouted

They ran towards the man leaving their swords at where they once stood—

He embraced the both of them as they almost crashed into him.

"Hey you two" he said as he laughed with them.

The girls let go of the man and noticed the newborn Leom held.

"Father, what is… that thing your holding" Elia asked slightly frightened

"Ah...I found him at the shore...he'll be staying with us for the next few month's"

Aniya looked at the boy and inspected him closely

"What's his name?"

Leom looked at the boy again with a slight sorrow

"Well, I believe his name is Ivel"

"Ivel, a strange name" Elia said her thoughts racing

"Can I carry him father?" Aniya said enthusiastically not at the least wary like her sister.

Leom chuckled

"Sure, just promise you wont drop him"

"I promise, promise" Aniya said excitedly as Leom handed her the child.

Ivel felt the new presence and shifted slightly; he held the girl's hand as it hovered over him.

Aniya suddenly felt a jolt of joy

"Can we keep him?" she asked, whilst Elia hovered over the newborn as well feeling a sense of calm now.

Leom looked at his daughter's, who had pleading eyes.

He sighed and averted his gaze.

"If he survives the first months... Then yes" he said solemnly.

The first coming months for a newborn were the most important, as they would dictate if they would adapt to the mana around them by being granted new found abilities and powers.

For that reason these new found powers humans received were put into two categories.

The powers that came from a being's soul were called qualities which could alter the very shape and existence of mana, harnessing it evermore though…only some are able to access this gift.

The second and most common powers were named adaptations. These adaptations altered one's body in many ways. At times they reflected the qualities of the soul, changing one's appearance entirely.

A different color of hair, or eyes. Adaptations were strange though the same could also be said for everything in the world—

Leom sighed looking at the boy and his two daughters. Now knowing what would come next.

"Alright you two, go back inside I'll be in there shortly" he said with a heartwarming tone

The two pouted though reluctantly agreed

"Yes father" the two slowly walked back inside whilst the man stayed with the newborn

Leom looked at the boy who seemed to be curious about the world around him.

"I have a feeling that fate has brought you too me child"

He looked down—then back at the boy, a soft chuckle escaped from his lips

"I suppose you will stay after all"

The wind moved through the clifftop, carrying itself through the trees, swaying them before drifting out over the ocean — traveling across the water until it reached a place with no land, no shore and no name.

Only pillars of stone rising from the sea, and walls that stood nearly as tall as mountains could be seen surrounding whatever was within.

In the center of it all, a figure stood — robed, the fabric draped over what appeared to be armor beneath.

A halted breath could be heard and along with it the wind.

A low laugh followed. Satisfied and quiet

The figure spoke, his voice soothing and proud.

A sigh of relief

" Ah… Thou'st being and soul has perished, yet blood runs true, given aid by thy and though."

The robed man raised his hands in praise,

" To believe thy would intervene, with the ryte of time."

The man's smile grew evermore.

"To think, To think!" He shouted

" That a cursed, Veil would have to secede thy."

He laughed evermore softly

"Praise to THY" The figure said softly

"Who has given life and death, staying true to thy title, thy who overse's , thy who keeps balance, and the father of truth."

His smile finally wandered as he put his hands together pausing for a moment.

"Meldi"...

As the robed figure finished his monologue a looming echo could be heard throughout the Aktrian ocean. The once looming stone pillars that followed jagged shapes and paths shook along with the humongous walls— the ocean followed soon after.

The tremor stopped and as such…there was nothing.

Just like a drift passing by, the man along with the island of ruin and stone was,

"Gone".
