Chapter 24 - Chapter 20: The "Mrs Watson" Incident.

Jayjay's POV

"PERCY? ARIES?" we both yelled in unison as the "shadows" yanked off the black blankets.

"I actually thought you were ghosts!" I said, rubbing my chest to calm my racing heart while Keifer finally let go of them.

"You idiots! You're jerks—you scared her," Keifer snapped, reaching out to smack both of their heads. They just stood there, looking at us. Had a cat gotten their tongues?

"Scared her? Or scared us?" Percy teased, finally finding his voice. Keifer just sighed, shaking his head.

"I really thought you were going to beat both of us, but you didn't," Aries added, laughing as he exchanged a high-five with Percy.

"Well, he didn't beat you, but now I am going to!" I barked, lunging forward to grab their ears.

"Oww! Baby sista, it was his plan!" Percy yelled, immediately pointing a finger at Aries.

"No, it was yours! Oww!" Aries shouted back. I hardened my grip, determined to teach them a lesson, but then Keifer caught my wrist.

"Are you trying to actually pull their ears off?" he asked softly. I huffed and let go.

"Idiots, jerks, stupids, dumbs... you zombies!" I grumbled, gutting their arms for good measure. But instead of being annoyed, all three of them just laughed at me. Why was Keifer laughing too? I turned and hit his arm as well.

"Hey, I'm injured!" he said, though he was still grinning as he rubbed his arm.

"Oh... sorry, I forgot," I muttered, scratching my head sheepishly. I turned back to my idiotic brothers. "Why are you two even here?"

"Mama told us you left in such a hurry and that you were worried," Aries explained.

"And when we got here, we saw your tears falling on Keifer's hand..." Percy started, but I tried to lunged to cover his mouth before he could finish.

"Wait, why?" Keifer asked, his eyes turning toward me with a curious glint.

"Then why didn't you both just come in instead of all that drama?" I asked, quickly shifting the topic and crossing my arms.

"We didn't want to," Aries said simply. Honestly, have these two taken turns to speak tonight?

I ignored them and took Keifer's hand, leading him back toward the bed. I knew he was recovering, but caution was still necessary. He sat on the edge of the bed, but before I could sit in my chair, my brothers swiped it. They sat right where I had been, taking my place. I rolled my eyes at them.

"Why are you rolling your eyes? They might fall out," Percy joked. They all burst out laughing. Wow, so funny.

"So funny," I said sarcastically, which only made them laugh harder.

"You look cute when you're mad," Keifer said suddenly.

I could feel my cheeks instantly start to burn. Why? Papa and these two idiots call me cute all the time, but this felt... different. Hayeee. Hoi, Jayjay, get a grip, you fool!

"Ohhhhh!" my brothers cheered like fans at a concert.

"Someone is blushing!" Percy teased.

"Shut up or you'll get a taste of this!" I shouted, raising my fist at him. He stopped laughing immediately. "You too," I pointed at Aries. Then I turned to Keifer. "Stop laughing!" I commanded, but he didn't stop. I ended up punching his chest—not too hard, but enough to make a point. "There you go!"

Feeling flustered, I turned around and walked out of the room to get some air.

I wandered into the hospital garden just as the sun was starting to rise. None of us had slept all night, but then again, Keifer and I had slept during the day. I was certain about myself, but I wasn't sure about him.

I started doing the math in my head. I had slept 18 hours earlier, then another 4 hours and 40 minutes from 8:00 PM to 12:46 AM. That meant... I had slept for 22 HOURS AND 40 MINUTES! My jaw dropped. What did I drink yesterday to sleep like a hibernating bear?

"What are you thinking about?" Aries asked, appearing behind me. I couldn't even answer; I was "too stunned to speak."

"Why are you here?" I finally found my voice.

"Umm, Percy sent me," he said. I raised an eyebrow. "Because... well, I think Keifer wasn't looking good."

My eyes went wide. "Wh... what do you mean?" I stammered.

"I don't know, he just didn't seem like—" He didn't even get to finish before I was sprinting back to the room.

I threw the door open and rushed to his side. He was lying perfectly still in the bed with his eyes closed, clearly trying not to laugh. Wait... do I look like a blind person? I turned to my brothers, who were both vibrating as they held back their laughter.

"Do I look blind to you?" I asked sarcastically.

They lost it. All three of them burst out laughing. Wow, Jayjay, you got fooled once more. But watching them laugh so hard made a giggle escape my lips too.

Suddenly, the door opened and the doctor walked in. We all straightened up instantly, like children when a teacher enters the room.

"Hello, Doctor," we said in unison.

"Hello. I'm just here to say that Mr. Watson can be discharged today," he said, checking his clipboard. Then he looked at me. "And Mrs. Watson, please take care of your husband."

"MRS. WATSON?" we three siblings yelled at the same time, looking at each other in total shock.

"HUSBAND?" we yelled again before whipping our heads toward Keifer.

That jerk was just smirking. The doctor left, and I immediately pointed a finger at Keifer.

"I know you planned this!" I said, not lowering my finger for a second.

"Planned what?" he asked innocently.

"'Planned what?'" I mimicked him in a high-pitched voice. "That 'Mrs. Watson' and 'husband' thing!"

"I don't know anything about that," he replied calmly. I was about to argue when Percy spoke up.

"So, we're going home now?" he asked, letting out a long yawn. He and Aries probably hadn't slept a wink.

"Yeah, but I need to change first," Keifer said, standing up. He stopped and looked at me for a long moment—longer than necessary. "Is that my jacket?"

I froze. I was shocked he hadn't noticed it before now. "Yeah..."

"Oh. That's fine," he said with a small smile before heading into the washroom.

I turned to look at my brothers, but they were already sneaking out of the room like thieves in the night.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was a message from Aries. I frowned—he could have just told me to my face before sneaking out like a thief!

From: The Horoscope 🌸💖

It's only 4:00 AM, so we are going home to sleep. Come home safe and take Keifer safe too.

I stared at the screen. Why would I be the one to take him home? Oh, right—he's injured, so there's no way he can drive himself in that condition.

To: The Horoscope 🌸💖

Ok, my dear favorite horoscope brother 😉

After replying to him, I decided to check my notifications. My eyes nearly popped out of my head. 149 missed calls from Kuya Angelo?! I also had three unread messages from him. I hadn't touched my phone since yesterday morning, and I definitely didn't expect this much of a panic.

From: Kuya 🪖🎖️

Where are you, princess?

Is everything alright, or do I have to come back?

Reply quickly, you're making me worried.

I couldn't help but smile at the screen. He is always so attentive and protective when it comes to me. It felt good to know he was just a phone call away if things got bad again.

To: Kuya 🪖🎖️

I slept for the whole day, then came to see Keifer. Everything is alright now! No one is being controlling anymore—not just with me, but with Percy and Aries too. We finally have some peace. Thanks kuya.

I hit send and let out a long sigh of relief. Phew. Peace at last.

I had just finished messaging Kuya when Keifer stepped out of the washroom. He was dressed entirely in black—black trousers, a black shirt, even black socks and shoes. I blinked. Why is he dressed like he's heading to a secret midnight mission?

"Why are you smiling at your phone?" he asked, casually drying his damp hair with a towel.

"Huh?" I snapped out of my thoughts, quickly locking my screen. "Just talking to Kuya."

"Umm... are you going to change?" he asked, glancing at my outfit.

"Yeah, obviously," I replied.

"Then where are your clothes?" He looked around the hospital room, searching for a suitcase or a shopping bag.

"In my bag," I said, holding up my small purse.

He let out a laugh, clearly not believing me. "It's so small! How could your clothes possibly fit in there?"

"It's not just my clothes," I said with a proud smile. "In here, I have my lip balm, my moisturizer, a full change of clothes, my phone, my earbuds, and three extra pairs of socks."

"Wait, wait... there is no way all of that fits in that tiny bag. You're joking, right?"

I didn't say a word. I just turned the bag upside down and dumped everything onto the bed. Clothes, electronics, and toiletries spilled out in a neat little pile. "See? Told ya."

He looked totally shocked, his eyes wide as he looked from the pile back to the tiny bag. "Whoa... how is that even physically possible?"

"Girl's power," I smirked.

I gathered my things and stood up, heading toward the washroom. I stopped at the door and looked back at him. "Close your mouth, Keifer, or a fly will go in," I teased. He quickly snapped his jaw shut and went back to his business—applying perfume and doing whatever it is boys do to look decent.

I took a quick shower and changed into a fresh white shirt and pants. Of course, I put his black leather jacket back on over it. Hehe, I really like it. I pulled on my white socks and black sneakers, then topped the look off with a black baseball cap. I checked myself in the mirror; the outfit was actually really cool.

When I walked back out, Keifer looked up from his phone. He froze. He stopped blinking, stopped moving—he was just staring at me. No, staring isn't the word. He was mesmerized.

"What? Is there something on my face?" I asked, feeling a bit self-conscious. He didn't answer. He didn't even twitch. "Keifer?"

Still nothing. He was like a statue.

"Oh, I knew the baseball cap didn't look good... hubby," I said, reaching up to take it off.

The word hit him like an electric shock. He suddenly shook his head, his face turning a deep, bright crimson. Oh my god, he blushed so hard!

"Umm... nothing! I mean—it looks good. You look gorgeous," he stammered, then tried to recover his cool by giving me a wink.

First, he's a statue, and now he's a flirt? I could feel my own cheeks starting to burn, so I quickly turned away and started digging through my purse for my perfume. Found it! I applied my lip balm and a quick spritz of perfume.

Wait... is lip balm considered a makeup item? I don't think it is, right? It's just for health! I'll have to ask Freya later. She knows more about makeup than anyone since her mom is a professional makeup artist.

"Jayjay..." he said. It was that tone—the one that screamed he was about to tease me. I didn't turn around.

"Hmm?" I responded, keeping my back to him while I pretended to be incredibly busy searching for something in my bag as an excuse.

"Turn around," he said. I could practically hear the smirk in his voice. I slowly turned and looked at him, trying to act confused.

"What?"

"I have your..." He trailed off, pulling my phone out from behind his back with a flourish.

"Oh! You can have it, I'm not hiding anything," I said casually. I walked over and sat beside him on the edge of the bed.

"Yeah, I know that," he said, his grin widening. "But I was wondering... what name did you save my contact under?"

My eyes went wide. He knows my lock screen password, and I don't have passwords on any of my other apps. I felt a surge of panic—I just hoped he hadn't actually looked!

"W-what? I... I saved it under your name," I stammered. Why am I stammering?! Get it together, Jayjay!

"Yeah, but I'm asking about the emojis," he teased, grinning like a cat who just caught a mouse.

Oh god, no. I had saved him as his nickname, "Keif," followed by a single heart emoji—the one with the little dot underneath ❣️.

"Ahh... I didn't add any," I lied. There was no way I was telling him the truth right now.

"What? Why not?" he asked, pouting like a little kid.

"What do you mean 'why'?"

"I mean, you're my fiancé! You should add some emojis if you love me," he said, sounding so much like a child that I almost laughed.

"But I don't love you," I teased.

"Yes, you do."

"I am literally telling you myself that I don't!" I argued.

"But you told me 'Mahal din kita'..."

Oh crap. He remembered. Why?! My face heated up instantly. I needed to change the topic, and fast.

"Wait, you didn't actually unlock my phone, did you?" I asked, looking at him suspiciously.

He shook his head seriously. "No. I'm not that type," he said, handing the phone back to me. "And I believe you."

"What type?" I teased, trying to lighten the mood.

"The type who doesn't trust the person they love and feels like they have to check their phone every single minute," he said. His voice had lost the teasing quality and was now filled with a quiet sincerity. "I trust you, Jayjay. I believe in you, and I always will."

He smiled at me—a real, genuine smile—and I couldn't help but smile back. The teasing was gone, replaced by something much warmer. We both looked at eachother in eachother's eyes, just smiling. We weren't just looking, we were memorizing eachother.

"Okay, enough of that 'aww' moment. Come on, let's go home!" I said, clapping my hands loudly like a prison warden.

"I don't have the energy," he said, grinning like a stubborn child.

I groaned and started pulling on his arm. Ahhhh! It was not as easy as it looks in movies. "Keif, get up!"

He just shook his head. Had a toddler's soul been transferred into his body? I mean, this isn't a K-drama where souls swap places, but he was certainly acting like it. "Keif... get up, na," I tried again, making my voice a little sweeter.

"I don't want to go home," he insisted.

I huffed, realizing I couldn't even budge him. I can drag Percy around easily, but Keifer? He clearly spends a lot of time at the gym. One of his hands is the size of both of mine put together. When he stands in front of me, it's like looking at a massive wall. Plus, the height difference is insane—I'm 5'1" and he's 6'2".

"Hubby, please?" I tried, using my secret weapon.

He sat up instantly. Wow. That worked fast.

"One more time, please?" he asked with pleading eyes.

"No," I said firmly. "But... I don't really want to go home yet either."

"Then let's go somewhere fun," he suggested. I nodded immediately.

"Okay, but I'm driving since you're still injured," I said, pointing toward his back.

"Uh-uh. I will. I can," he argued, but I just shook my head until he gave in.

"Fine. I'll finally get to see just how much speeding you actually do," he teased. I laughed.

"Oh, then don't forget your seatbelt!" I warned. He just chuckled softly as we grabbed our things and left the room.

Even though I was the one driving, he still insisted on opening the car door for me. Once I was in, he signaled for me to put on my seatbelt. I usually don't bother with it, but I knew if I didn't, he'd lecture me about safety and try to kick me into the passenger seat. So, I buckled up.

He climbed into the passenger side but didn't put his own seatbelt on. Okay, dude, I thought. If you're challenging Jasper Jean Fernandez Mariano, I'm going to show you exactly who she is.

I hit the gas and the engine roared. I looked over at him; he was totally chill until I really started speeding. Suddenly, his relaxed face turned into a mask of pure terror. He definitely didn't expect me to drive like a professional racer.

"Scared?" I teased, glancing at him.

"Yeah! Mostly because I might die if you don't focus on the road!" he yelled.

I realized I was staring at him instead of the street. "Oh! Sorry," I said, quickly snapping my eyes back to the road.

He quickly buckled his seatbelt, and I couldn't help but giggle. The "tough guy" was finally playing it safe.

"So, where are we going?" he asked, looking out the window as the trees blurred past.

"Nowhere," I replied casually.

"Nowhere? What do you mean? Are we just going to live in this car all day?" he asked, sounding genuinely confused. I just nodded. "Wait... are you serious?"

"Yeah, duh! We're doing a road trip for at least half an hour, maybe an hour. Then, we're going to a park where I can get some exercise. I usually go to the park on weekends, but since we're free before uni starts, I'm going today."

He opened his mouth to protest—probably about why only I was getting to exercise—but I cut him off before he could start. "And no, you are not doing any exercise because you're still injured. After that, we'll just see where the day takes us. Once we've killed enough time, we can head straight to uni."

He let out a long sigh, realizing there was no use arguing with me. "Okay, fine. I agree."

"Good boy," I teased. I pressed down on the gas even harder, the speedometer climbing up to 120. Hehe. This was going to be a fun morning.

The End🌸.
