Chapter 36 - C36.Green Angel!

Audrey was shocked that she could perfectly imitate Mozo's voice and tone, but far more than that, her mind was racing as she desperately tried to understand what exactly was happening and what this half-faced monster wanted.

At the same time, Audrey noticed that after she spoke Mozo's original line, the green-haired monster's breathing visibly grew heavier.

Was he targeting Mozo?

Because of his hidden family background? His extraordinary bloodline?

But very quickly, Audrey overturned that theory.

Because after Graveyard spoke up and said:

"The Fool of the Tarot? Friend, I'd advise you to pick another name. That one's unlucky."

The green-haired monster immediately let out a furious roar.

Then he pointed a finger through the air and blew Graveyard's head apart on the spot.

Scarlet blood mixed with white brain matter splattered across everyone nearby.

Even Audrey had bits of flesh and blood sprayed onto her face.

Such a bloody and brutal scene, along with the warm sensation on her skin, completely stunned Audrey.

She was a Beyonder and had experienced many "dangerous situations" before, but this level of horrifying brutality was something both she and many of the gathering members had never witnessed in their lives.

Yet the reenactment did not stop simply because they were terrified and frozen in shock.

Audrey's voice rang out again:

"Actually, before you joined us, our gathering invited someone else too…"

As she spoke, Audrey's body suddenly trembled violently.

Just moments ago, Graveyard had merely advised Mozo not to use the name Fool, and he had died for it.

Now she was continuing the conversation in his place.

Didn't that mean she was about to die too?!

Instantly, Audrey felt the entire world spinning around her.

Had that strange force not been supporting her body, she probably would have collapsed on the floor right then and there.

Death, especially after witnessing someone nearby die horribly, caused those powerless to resist to develop an overwhelming terror toward their own impending demise.

Fortunately, perhaps because Graveyard's death had already vented some of the monster's rage, or perhaps because the creature still needed them alive to continue reenacting the story, Audrey did not end up dying like poor Graveyard.

Afterward, Vodka continued the dialogue in Graveyard's place just as Audrey had before.

Once everything was finally complete, the green-haired monster swept his vicious gaze across every single person present.

Only after a long while did he slowly rub his chin and mutter to himself:

"Luck… Heh. So it really was luck."

Then he strangely clutched his head and continued speaking:

"But I clearly never interfered with him. So why did he still call himself Fool? He wasn't supposed to be my sacrifice!"

Mozo's appearance had been entirely unexpected to the green-haired monster.

The Fool he originally prepared was another local wild Beyonder.

If he hadn't happened to notice the irregularity while routinely checking his arrangements, he might never have discovered that a newcomer had joined the gathering and coincidentally chosen the title Fool from the very beginning.

That coincidence had drawn his attention.

At first, he suspected that "that old bastard" had tracked him down, which was why he timed everything carefully and captured every member except Mozo tonight in order to reenact the scene.

His confusion did not last long.

Still clutching his head, the green-haired monster suddenly changed from bewilderment to ecstatic delight as he raised a hand toward the heavens and shouted:

"It doesn't matter! He's just a mortal! In that case, your luck is mine as well! Fate itself has decided this. You cannot escape it, and neither can I refuse it! Since you called yourself Fool, then you shall become my final sacrifice!"

As he spoke, the monster excitedly pulled out twenty-one cards and displayed them before everyone like a child proudly showing off a treasured toy.

Then, in an almost innocent tone, he said to them:

"Look! Thanks to all of you, my masterpiece has become absolutely perfect!"

Using the corner of her eye, Audrey desperately glanced toward the cards in his hands.

They were a Tarot deck.

A Tarot deck that carried an indescribable mystical aura.

At that moment, Audrey finally understood.

The reason those previous people had all used Tarot card aliases…

The reason they had all mysteriously died…

Every single part of it had been orchestrated by this green-haired monster.

They had all been used as pieces in his game.

The realization instantly made Audrey feel as though she had fallen into an icy abyss.

So this wasn't simply bad luck.

She had been targeted from the very beginning, woven into this horrifying ritual long ago.

Which also meant her chances of surviving had become even smaller.

The other gathering members were not fools either.

They quickly realized the truth as well, and one after another lowered their heads in despair.

Meanwhile, after showing them the deck, the muttering green-haired monster carefully stored all the cards away.

Then he picked up a chunk of flesh from Graveyard's exploded head and pointed a finger toward Graveyard's corpse lying nearby.

In the next moment, beneath the increasingly horrified gazes of the crowd, Graveyard's headless corpse suddenly stood back up.

Not only that, grotesque flesh buds rapidly began sprouting from the severed neck.

Eventually, an entirely new head regrew.

No, it could not truly be called Graveyard's head.

Although half the face looked identical to before, the other half had become just like the green-haired monster's, covered in disgusting green fur.

The "revived" Graveyard monster first stretched his newly grown neck, then grinned toward the original green-haired creature.

The two monsters stared at each other.

Then both burst into hysterical laughter at the exact same time.

"I am you, and you are me!"

"We are all great beings!"

"We are all part of the exalted Green Angel!"

The madness of the scene made everyone present feel even more terrified.

Fortunately, they were merely insignificant figures with no access to higher-level mystical knowledge.

Otherwise, hearing the title Green Angel alone would probably have scared several of them to death on the spot.

Because the Green Angel was a Sequence Two of the Life Pathway.

At that very moment, a series of faint yet continuous tremors spread beneath the feet of both the crowd and the two Green Angels.

Seeing this, the two Green Angels simultaneously stopped laughing and stroked their chins as they spoke together:

"So those idiots have started already?"

"How laughable."

"To waste their lives for something as meaningless as nations and organizations."

"Tsk tsk."

"How foolish."

"Utterly foolish!"

The overlapping voices echoed endlessly through the room.

Everything felt bizarre, insane, and deeply horrifying.

Compared to this scene, even the earthquake no longer seemed particularly frightening.

Yet what the captives did not know whether to fear or rejoice over was the fact that the two green-haired monsters clearly suffered from severe mental instability.

If everything before could merely be described as madness and distortion…

Then after the brief earthquake, the two creatures suddenly sat cross-legged face-to-face like children and began playing rock-paper-scissors against each other.

And they continued playing for an entire day and night.
