~Elsie's POV
The doctor put on a pair of gloves and reached for a small bottle.
"This might feel cold," he said calmly.
Before I could respond, I felt the gel. It touched my stomach, and I flinched slightly.
"It is cold," I said under my breath.
The doctor gave a small nod.
"Yes, but it helps the machine get a clearer image," he explained.
He picked up the probe and placed it gently against my stomach, right over the gel. Then he started moving it slowly. At first, I did not understand what I was looking at.
The screen showed black and white shapes that shifted as he moved the probe, and I found myself staring, trying to make sense of it.
"Relax," the doctor said softly. "Just breathe normally."
I nodded, even though my body still felt a bit tense.
He adjusted the angle of the probe, pressing slightly, then easing it as he moved across my stomach.
"Sometimes the baby changes position," he explained. "So we have to follow carefully."
