Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: "Overture" 3/5

Early the next morning, Jean Stardust began to busy herself with the mission.

She checked the status of white wind, reinforced her equipment as much as possible, and looked to see if she could rope in any help.

But first, following her thoughts from last night, she went to the lower level of the White Tower to post a bounty.

The bounty was for a plan, or rather, a guiding program for action.

Although the Infected yearned for equality and peace, this was difficult to achieve directly when they did not possess a military advantage.

Therefore, the Infected needed an ideology, a program, and a correct direction.

Perhaps on the surface, curing oripathy would change the plight of the Infected.

But in reality, what the Infected—or rather, these people at the bottom—truly had to face was discrimination, exploitation, and oppression.

This was perhaps the reason why Rhodes Island, despite claiming to be a medical institution, possessed a significant amount of armed force.

"Studying medicine cannot save the Infected.jpg"

This, however, was not something Jean Stardust could provide, but since this was a place where many worlds intersected, there would always be various mature plans to solve such problems.

She described the situation in Terra World and the circumstances of the Infected using somewhat vague terms, referenced other posted bounties to mark an appropriate price, and then waited for someone to respond.

Jean Stardust checked the time; next, it was time to try and recruit some help.

"Let me tell you, my Frostnova is super cute, you know? The kind of cute that can melt your heart."

"Yes, yes, yes, I know. You called me here just to show off your wife!"

Sitting in front of the previous skewer stall, Nero finally couldn't hold back because of Jean Stardust's second round of showing off her wife.

"Oh right, one reason I called you here is to return your book."

Jean Stardust pulled the book out of her spatial pouch and returned it to Nero.

"Umu, you're thoughtful."

"This book helped me a lot, thank you."

"Hahaha, that's good, that's good." Nero showed a very happy smile.

"Also, I am going to the Type-Moon World."

"Oh my, is it that recent Grand Prix? That's high difficulty."

"No, no." Jean Stardust shook the skewer in her hand. "It's just a normal Holy Grail War."

"A normal Holy Grail War? Then you must work hard to win. After all, as a friend of me, the heroine of the Nasuverse, you cannot lose face."

"When did you become the heroine of the Nasuverse?" This statement left Jean Stardust very confused.

"Isn't it? Aren't heroines supposed to look like me?"

"You're right. Well-argued and convincing."

"And let me tell you! In this era, red is greater than blue!"

"So, do you want to go back and take a look?" Jean Stardust asked her original purpose, wanting to see if she could take Nero along.

Nero was silent for a while, then shook her head and said:

"Sorry, I don't want to go back. Although my current power is enough to escape the control of the Hall of Heroes, that world still has many enemies and natural predators."

Only then did Jean Stardust remember that the Hall of Heroes was not a good place for many Heroic Spirits, such as a certain Red Archer. As for Nero's enemies and natural predators, she actually had no clue.

"Oh, I see. That can't be helped. By the way, is there anything you need me to do for you while I'm there?"

"Yes, if you have the chance, help me punch the blue one in the chest, and tell her that wanting to be a heroine is the real deal."

"..." Jean Stardust looked at Nero speechlessly, but still agreed: "Fine, fine, I got it."

She bit off the last piece of grilled meat, paid the bill, said goodbye to Nero, and headed to Ryza's place.

Arriving at Ryza's room, it was even messier than the last time she came.

"Sorry, sorry, I really haven't had time to clean up lately."

"You look very busy, am I disturbing you?"

"Not at all, if anything, switching gears is better. You are here to check your weapon, right?"

"Yes, help me look at white wind, and this crystal."

Jean Stardust took out the crystal she had obtained earlier, which formed the core of Cthugha's projection.

"What is this thing? Solidified fire? And it's full of life force?"

Ryza took the crystal and began to examine it curiously.

"Hmm, hmm, hmm, I see. Fire injected with the two wills of 'entity' and 'living', but this will has the property of mental pollution."

"Then where can this be used?" Jean Stardust asked.

"Energy supply, I suppose. Since there's a risk of mental pollution for ordinary people, it should be fine for mindless machines. However, the conversion device needs to be made separately, and what you have isn't enough to cover the cost of making the device."

"Actually, I have a big bag of them, and I've even converted this stuff directly into crystals I can use."

Jean Stardust performed an on-the-spot demonstration of converting the crystal into Stardust Wind.

"Do you not know how difficult it is to imbue energy with will, let alone defeating other wills to change the properties of matter? For ordinary people, this thing is actually no different from a rock."

Recalling the hardship of refining Stardust crystals back then, and knowing that she was only able to convert this remnant after devouring the power of the Stardust Dragon, Jean Stardust nodded to show she understood.

"But since you can use this kind of crystal, you can keep it as backup energy. Of course, selling it is also fine; the Creation Festival is coming up soon, and energy-type materials are in short supply, so you might be able to trade it for something good."

"Hmm, then I'll hold onto it for now. Please help me keep an eye on what I can trade it for."

"No problem. If a deal is made, the commission is 10%. This is a hard rule, no discounts."

After obtaining Jean Stardust's agreement, Ryza took out a contract. After confirming it was correct and signing it, she began to inspect the blade.

"The blade is fine. I can see your compatibility has increased even more, and there is a new Mythic Ascension. Wait, did you kill a god?"

"I suppose so."

"If you ascend now, it can provide triple damage amplification against fire, dragons, and divinity. At the same time, satisfying an additional condition will further increase the damage."

"What about the materials?" Jean Stardust was a bit short on funds now.

"Just use that crystal from earlier for materials. After all, it's the remnant of that god. The cost can be covered from there too; about 10kg should be enough."

Hearing that it wouldn't cost money, Jean Stardust quickly nodded in agreement, and Ryza soon finished reinforcing the blade.

[white wind New Trait: Mythic Ascension — Red Eye: Dragon Slayer! Flame Extinguisher! God Slayer! Increased damage against dragons, fire, and gods. Each additional condition met further increases damage. (The Red-Eyed Demon King Shabranigdu has taken an interest in you.)]

[white wind New Trait: Life Essence: When life force flows through the blade, it will not suffer any obstruction or loss. (Reinforced with special materials)]

Confirming the new traits of white wind, although the attention of the Red-Eyed Demon King was puzzling, the excellent performance gave Jean Stardust more confidence. However, to be safe, she still asked Ryza how to quickly supplement her strength.

"If you really have to ask, it would be firearms. If the gun is good enough and the bullets are good enough, you will be very strong, and you won't miss even at point-blank range."

Hearing this, Jean Stardust perked up; firearms themselves were a kind of romance.

Finally, under Ryza's fervent recommendation, Jean Stardust spent another 1000 T-points to purchase an alchemical revolver cannon named 'overture', modeled after the legendary hand cannon 'Ace of Spades'.

The exquisite white gun body was engraved with gold-stamped inscriptions: 'What's past is prologue.' This represented the origin of the gun's name.

And the cylinder, which could hold 13 rounds of high-energy ammunition, along with the extremely high-strength gun body, represented its power.

At the same time, elemental power could be infused into it; although the power would be reduced, there was no need to reload.

Carrying her new gun, which she loved dearly, and having purchased a large pile of emergency food and snacks, Jean Stardust returned home, transferred part of the house's control rights to Frostnova, and spent another sweet night.

The next morning, carrying her equipment and food, and with a farewell kiss from Frostnova, she activated the mission scroll's teleportation, heading towards the Type-Moon World.
