'She killed it.'
Dust settled around the Saurian's lifeless body. The runes flickered once, then died. Purple blood pooled beneath the carcass, hissing as it struck warm stone.
Eli counted how many of them were left.
'Five.'
Three carried curved knives, and another two with short swords. Their masks were streaked with dust and acid blood that had burned parts of their faces away, but they didn't seem to care. Their eyes fixed on their two remaining, still-standing prey.
Time seemed to stop, however, now that the Saurian had died.
Juli yanked her blade from its shoulder. Her aura had already thinned so much that it was barely visible from afar. Still, she was mostly unscathed, bearing only a few scratches here and there.
Eli, however, looked a mess. His body was bruised and battered. His shirt was stained red, and so too was his arm, being nearly covered in blood. The blood from his temple had crusted along his jawline. His vision blurred every time he blinked.
