Chapter 93: Glasses Failed
Bang!
With the fighting robot's final slam, the Wolf Dog, utterly exhausted, collapsed in the corner of the iron cage. It struggled twice, but in the end, it had no strength left to get back up.
"KO!"
Child Emperor licked his lollipop and triumphantly wiggled his finger. "Uncles, what do you think of my new invention? No matter which direction the Wolf Dog attacks from, the Glasses can predict all of it."
A Hero Association staff member's eyes lit up. "Child Emperor-sama, if this experiment of yours succeeds, it would simply be a blessing for the heroes! In the future, fighting Monsters will become much easier, greatly increasing the Hero Association's monster-killing efficiency."
Child Emperor said humbly, "It's not that amazing, really. Besides, the 'Glasses' are still in the experimental stage. It will take a long time to fix all the various flaws."
The staff member lavished praise. "Even if it's still in the experimental stage, one can already see the future of the Glasses! In the future, they will undoubtedly be an essential piece of equipment for the heroes of the Hero Association. Child Emperor-sama, to invent such significantly impactful technology at such a young age, you are sure to leave a prominent mark in the history of human technology!"
"Hahaha, you flatter me," Child Emperor said with a grin. "But, Uncle, it's your turn for the experiment now. Please be ready, okay?"
He called out to the fighting robot, and it immediately exited the iron cage, walking with a clanking sound towards the staff member.
"I've been ready for a while, we can start anytime." The staff member stared at the ice-cold fighting robot, nervously swallowing a mouthful of saliva. "Child Emperor-sama, do I need to attack with all my strength? Also, it... it shouldn't attack me, right?"
Tanktop Puncher scoffed "Tch," pursed his lips, "Even if you quit, who's forcing you to do the experiment?"
"Ha... hahaha, Tanktop Puncher-sama, you're joking. Of course, I'm very willing to assist Child Emperor-sama in collecting the experimental data."
The staff member nervously chuckled twice.
"Don't worry, I personally programmed it. It will only neutralize your attacks, never retaliate," Child Emperor assured. "The purpose of this experiment is merely to collect data. I installed machines for data collection, processing, and analysis inside its head. You can attack without reservation; it will only collect your muscle data and attack data, process them, and then perform corresponding neutralizing movements. It won't counterattack."
"Understood."
The staff member let out a light breath, his whole body tensed, and his fists clenched tightly.
"Start!"
Child Emperor watched the staff member and the fighting robot with great interest.
"Hah!"
The staff member let out a loud shout and directly punched his fist towards the fighting robot.
Thud!
The fighting robot suddenly raised a hand, then quickly opened its mechanical palm and gripped the staff member's incoming fist.
"Hm?"
The staff member tried to pull his fist out a few times, discovered the fighting robot's grip was dead-tight, making it impossible to pull free, and gave an awkward smile to the several people with strange expressions.
King's mouth twitched slightly. He thought with a headache, "I hope I don't run into such an awkward situation myself later, do I? Hm, if I do, I'll definitely have to use a card to pull my fist out. I can't afford to offend this guy!"
After a while, the fighting robot finally released its palm, allowing the staff member's fist to regain its freedom.
"Aha!"
The staff member shook his fist, his eyes swept over the fighting robot, his gaze flickered, and he again let out a loud shout, launching an attack at the fighting robot, punching his fist straight out.
"Idiot! To fall in the same place twice! Besides, these flimsy punches are like old men giving massages; what kind of threat could they possibly pose?"
Tanktop Puncher watched the staff member repeat his previous actions with disdain, already predicting the fighting robot's reaction.
King glanced sideways at the "everyone else is weak, I'm the only strong one" Tanktop Puncher, shaking his head. The quality of the Tanktop Army members was indeed generally low. They truly lived up to their nickname, the "Thug Army."
However, to everyone's utter astonishment, after the staff member threw his seemingly weak punch, his foot suddenly kicked out with force. It turned out that the flimsy punch was merely a feint to mislead the robot; all his strength was concentrated in his leg.
"Heh!"
King chuckled softly. Tanktop Puncher just called him an idiot, but facts proved that he wasn't an idiot at all; on the contrary, he was rather clever. This, in turn, made Tanktop Puncher seem even more foolish.
"Hmph, just some useless petty cleverness. Could this kind of attack actually hit the robot? Are you kidding?"
Tanktop Puncher glared angrily at King, still disdainfully evaluating the staff member.
Bang!
No sooner had his words fallen than a dull thud of a fist hitting metal immediately rang out.
King and the others looked on in surprise as the fighting robot blocked the staff member's kick with its mechanical leg. But the staff member's fist had struck the robot's chest.
Does this count as a successful attack? Did the Glasses make a mistake?
Tanktop Puncher stared dumbfounded as the staff member managed to attack the fighting robot. His face was filled with shame and anger. "Ugh, that slap in the face was too quick! Dammit!"
He had just finished saying that the staff member couldn't possibly hit the robot, but the staff member immediately landed a punch on the robot's body. Although it caused no damage, he did hit the robot after all.
"Child Emperor, didn't you say the 'Glasses' could analyze the opponent's attack patterns? How do you explain what just happened?" Tanktop Puncher said angrily. "Isn't your new invention a bit too unreliable?"
Snek frowned and said, "After all, it's a new invention, and it's still in the experimental stage. It's quite normal for flaws to appear."
King nodded in agreement. Which new invention doesn't require a period of observation and correction? New technology? Naturally, there are many flaws, and errors are completely within expectations.
"It's not a flaw, actually."
Child Emperor, holding his lollipop, swayed it a few times and said with a grin, "I forgot to mention just now: in the program I instilled in the fighting robot, it analyzes and processes data collected by the 'Glasses' to predict the opponent's attack trajectory and then react accordingly. However, there are two special situations where it will ignore the opponent's attacks completely, not defending at all, just letting them happen."
"Two special situations?"
Snek and the others were startled and asked in unison, "What kind of special situations?"
Child Emperor raised one fingertip and said, "The first special situation is when the opponent's muscle density is too high and their vibration frequency is too fast, causing the 'Glasses' to be unable to identify and determine the trajectory of their punches. Hm, simply put, if the opponent is too strong, the 'Glasses' might not be able to function normally. Of course, this situation is limited to opponents who are extremely powerful. Remember, it's only when the opponent is *super* powerful that the 'Glasses' function fails."
Snek and the others curiously asked, "Just how powerful does one have to be for the 'Glasses' to make a mistake?"
"I'm not sure," Child Emperor shook his head. "According to my estimates, even S-Class heroes as powerful as Superalloy Darkshine can have their punch trajectories predicted. So, I also don't know exactly what level of power would cause the 'Glasses' to fail." As he spoke, he paused, glancing at the quiet King, and said with a grin, "Perhaps, only someone as strong as King could possibly cause the 'Glasses' to fail, you know."
"King? The strongest man on Earth?"
Snek and the others were momentarily lost in thought. The name King truly inspires both awe and reverence.
"So... what about the second special situation?"
