Three days later.
Teiko Middle School.
Ryu, Aomine, Akashi, Murasakibara, Midorima, and Kuroko were having lunch together.
Murasakibara Atsushi, while eating his fried chicken, stared at the contents of Ryu's lunchbox and said:
"Yu-chin, It looks pretty good."
Ryu replied, swallowing his food:
"Would you like to try some?"
Murasakibara Atsushi nodded repeatedly.
"Yu-chin, you're so kind! I won't be polite!"
Ryu smiled and looked at the others.
"Would you like some too? I made a lot today."
Aomine Daiki had long been interested in the in Ryu's lunchbox, but he was worried that Ryu wouldn't have enough, so he hadn't dared to ask.
"Then I'll try some too."
"Thank you for the treat."
Saying this, Akashi picked up a piece and put it in his mouth.
Midorima and Kuroko each picked up a piece.
They had been together for quite some time now.
The unique friendship among middle school students had long since taken root in their hearts.
"This tastes amazing! I never knew Ryu's cooking was delicious!"
Murasakibara Atsushi seemed to have discovered a new world, his eyes sparkling with countless little stars.
The others also praised.
"Everyone's here!"
Just then, a voice reached everyone's ears.
Ryu and the others looked over and saw Haizaki Shogo with gray hair.
He came up behind Kuroko and said:
"I'll take the meatball!"
Saying this, he reached into Kuroko's plate, picked up a meatball, and put it in his mouth.
Aomine Daiki already disliked Haizaki Shogo.
He snapped:
"Hey! Haizaki, if you're hungry, go get a larger portion or buy something else. Don't always take other people's food!"
Kuroko said calmly:
"I'm fine with it."
Haizaki Shogo swallowed the meatball in his mouth and grinned.
"It doesn't matter! Didn't you just eat food from Ryu's lunchbox? And don't you always eat other people's food?"
"That's because Ryu invited me to eat it, and I only eat other people's food when I'm hungry."
Midorima glanced at Aomine and said seriously:
"The last part means the same thing, Aomine."
Then he said to Haizaki Shogo without turning his head:
"Also, try not to make noise while eating, Haizaki. It's very rude."
"Huh? Why would I do that?"
Haizaki Shogo picked at his ear with his pinky finger, looking indifferent.
Just then, Murasakibara Atsushi picked up a bowl of rice and started shoveling it into his mouth.
The chopsticks clattered against the porcelain bowl, making a series of loud noises.
Midorima, annoyed by the sound, frowned and looked at Murasakibara Atsushi with displeasure.
"Hey! Murasakibara, you should correct your chopstick technique. It's very uncivilized."
"Huh? I've always done it this way. Why should I change? I don't want to!"
Murasakibara Atsushi replied with a reluctant expression.
Ryu remained silent throughout.
"Hmm… Atsushi's fried chicken looks pretty good! I'll take some."
With that, Haizaki Shogo reached out to grab a piece to try.
Suddenly, Murasakibara Atsushi's aura exploded, like the roar of a wild beast.
Everyone felt an invisible, immense weight pressing down on them.
"Dare to take one and I'll crush you."
Aomine Daiki, sitting next to Murasakibara Atsushi, said somewhat embarrassedly:
"His aura is even more serious than during a match!"
Seeing Murasakibara Atsushi's expression, Haizaki Shogo grinned wickedly.
"Stop nagging so annoyingly. Didn't I tell you, it's not because I'm hungry or anything?"
He licked his thumb and continued:
"It's just that food looks more tempting when other people eat it, and I can't resist trying it."
For a moment, everyone except Ryu and Kuroko frowned, their gazes towards Haizaki Shogo growing increasingly disgusted.
"Murasakibara, can I have some fried chicken?"
At this moment, Ryu's voice suddenly rang out, breaking the brief silence.
Murasakibara Atsushi looked at Ryu, then looked down at the fried chicken on his plate and shook his head.
"No, you can't take my food, not even Yu-chin!"
Ryu ate a dumpling, swallowed it, and continued:
"What do you think about us exchanging our food boxes??"
Hearing this, Murasakibara Atsushi hesitated, looking at in Ryu's lunchbox.
After a long while, he finally nodded.
"Alright! I'll trade with you then!"
With that, he pushed his plate towards Ryu.
Just then, a hand suddenly appeared, about to touch the fried chicken.
Smack…
Ryu ruthlessly slapped it away with his chopsticks.
The hand quickly retracted.
Ryu looked at Haizaki Shogo with a nonchalant expression.
His silver eyes seemed to drag Haizaki Shogo into an endless abyss.
"Don't contaminate the food. Besides, this is what I traded for. They eat my food because I want them to eat it, so there's a fundamental difference between you."
After saying that, Ryu began picking up pieces of fried chicken from Murasakibara Atsushi's plate and placing them in his own lunchbox.
Hearing Ryu's words, Haizaki Shogo didn't know why, but even though the other party hadn't threatened him or exuded any aura, he still felt a subtle, albeit imperceptible, pressure.
In the end, he gave in.
In the basketball club, besides Nijimura Shuzo, the second person he dared not provoke was Ryu.
On his first day in the club, Ryu had already planted an indelible shadow in his heart, preventing him from having any bad thoughts about him, like a nightmare.
That deathly, bloodthirsty, and ruthless aura—he still couldn't forget that scene.
"Tch…"
Haizaki Shogo scoffed, then stood there silently.
Ryu didn't continue targeting Haizaki Shogo.
To ease the tense atmosphere, Ryu spoke up:
"Speaking of which, shouldn't a second-year student be promoted to the first team today?"
Aomine Daiki chimed in:
"I heard he only started playing basketball two weeks ago. To be promoted to the first team so quickly is really impressive."
"Ah, I've heard Momoi-san mention him. I think his name is Kise Ryota," Kuroko interjected.
Murasakibara Atsushi, enjoying his dumplings, said:
"None of that matters."
Haizaki Shogo murmured with a strange smile:
"Ah, his name is Kise Ryota?"
"It's rare that you remember someone's name, Haizaki."
Midorima looked at Haizaki Shogo with some surprise.
Haizaki Shogo smiled and said:
"It's nothing; I just have a feeling he and I won't get along!"
Ryu said meaningfully:
"Kise, huh? I saw him once during the holidays. He'd be perfect for small forward!"
Hearing Ryu's words, Haizaki Shogo's eyes narrowed slightly, and his smile deepened.
The conversation was normal, but an unseen, eerie atmosphere made everyone around them hesitant to approach, looking on as if they wanted to avoid the area at all costs.
