As Kelvin stepped out of the Mana room, every bruise, burn, and scorch mark on both his body and clothing had completely disappeared, as though the grueling trial had never happened. Only the memory of the pain remained.
He quietly followed Instructor Kenny toward the elevator.
Their first mission.
Ordinarily, those words would have filled him with excitement. Instead, his thoughts remained trapped in the Mana room.
Light Breaker.
The name echoed through his mind.No matter how many times he replayed those final moments, he could not understand what had happened.
The golden light...
The mysterious voice...How had he suddenly learned a word he had never heard before?Unable to hold back his curiosity any longer, Kelvin looked at Kenny.
"Instructor..."
"Hm?"
"Can I ask you something?"
Kenny glanced at him.
"Go ahead."
Kelvin hesitated. He wasn't even sure if he had heard the words correctly.
"...What is Light Breaker?"
Kenny's footsteps came to a stop for the first time since they had left the Mana Chamber, he turned to face Kelvin completely.
"...Where did you hear that name?"
Kelvin blinked.
"So it's real?"
Kenny didn't answer immediately.
"Answer my question first."
Kelvin took a slow breath.
"I don't know where I heard it. It just... happened."
Kenny frowned.
"Explain."
"When I was inside the Mana Chamber..."
Kelvin searched for the right words.
"I wasn't unconscious... at least, I don't think I was. It felt like I was trapped somewhere between sleeping and being awake."
Kenny remained silent.
"I couldn't move. I couldn't even feel my body."
"Go on."
"Everything around me was gold. There wasn't a floor... or a sky... just endless light."
Kelvin looked down as he recalled it.
"Then a voice spoke."
Kenny's eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly.
"It only said two words."
"Light Breaker."
For several seconds, Kenny simply stared at him.His expression remained calm, but there was a trace of surprise hidden beneath it.Finally, he spoke.
"Light Breaker is the name of an exclusive spell."
Kelvin looked up.
"Exclusive?"
"Most sorcerers will never learn it, no matter how talented they are. Only a select few have ever been capable of using it."
Kelvin swallowed.
"I think I can cast it."
Kenny lets out a small laugh. As he did not believe the young man in front of him
"You've never seen it"
"Yet you're telling me you can cast one of the rarest spells in existence?"
Kelvin nodded.
"I know how it sounds."
He studied Kelvin carefully. Not as an instructor looking at a student...But as though he were trying to understand something impossible. After nearly half a minute...He stepped backward.
"Show me."
Kelvin looked up.
"If you truly believe you can cast it..."
"Then cast it."
Kelvin took a deep breath. His heartbeat gradually quickened. What if he was wrong? What if everything that had happened inside the Mana Chamber had simply been an illusion?
Closing his eyes, he stopped thinking about spells. He stopped thinking about mana.
Instead...
He searched for that feeling. The warmth.
The endless golden light. The mysterious voice. The two words that had engraved themselves into his very soul.
Light... Breaker...
Nothing happened.Several seconds passed.Kelvin's confidence slowly began to waver.
Maybe...
Maybe he really had imagined everything.
Suddenly. Mana gathered around his fingertips golden particles of mana appeared from every direction
Kenny's eyes narrowed.
They gathered around Kelvin's right hand as though responding to an invisible command. The light grew brighter. The surrounding mana vibrated violently.A faint humming sound echoed throughout the elevator. Then, before Kenny's eyes...
The gathered mana rapidly condensed.
It stretched outward.Lengthened.Its shape became clearer with every passing second.
Until finally
A magnificent sword forged entirely from dazzling golden light rested in Kelvin's hand. The blade radiated a gentle brilliance.Golden runes flowed across its surface like living streams of light. The entire elevator was illuminated.
Kelvin slowly opened his eyes. His own reflection stared back at him from the glowing blade.
"I..."
He couldn't hide the astonishment in his voice.
"I actually did it."
For several long moments...Neither of them spoke.Kenny's eyes never left the sword. He had seen Light Breaker before.Years ago.In the hands of someone who had spent decades mastering it.Yet this...This boy...Had just summoned it a few weeks after awakening.
"...Impossible."
The word escaped Kenny's lips almost unconsciously. He looked at Kelvin Kenny frowned
"answer me this when did you become capable of casting it?"
Kelvin looked back at the radiant sword. Then answered quietly.
"A few minutes ago."
Silence filled the elevator once more.
Kelvin gently ran his fingers across the blade.Although it was made entirely from mana...It felt solid.Real.Comforting.For reasons he couldn't explain...Holding it felt natural. As though it had always belonged in his hand.A small smile appeared on his face.At least now...He wasn't completely helpless. If danger appeared during their mission...He could finally fight back. After dismissing the sword, Kelvin turned toward Kenny once more.
"Instructor..."
"The place I saw..."
"The voice..."
"What exactly was it?"
Kenny remained silent for a long time.
When he finally answered...His voice carried none of its usual confidence.
"...No one knows."
Kelvin frowned.
"No one?"
Kenny slowly nodded.
"Every sorcerer experiences that strange state when they awaken."
"Every single one."
"They all describe it differently."
"Some see endless oceans."
"Some stand beneath unfamiliar skies."
"Others find themselves in complete darkness."
"But there's one thing every account has in common"
Kelvin listened without blinking.
"A voice."
Kenny looked ahead as the elevator continued its descent.
"My Advanced Healing Spell also came from that voice."
Kenny raised his hand, a faint green glow dancing around his fingertips.
Kelvin's eyes widened.
"It did?"
Kenny nodded.
"Very few sorcerers can cast Advanced Healing. It's an exclusive spell, just like Light Breaker."
He closed his hand, causing the glow to disappear.
"When I awakened, the voice gave me that spell."
Kelvin remained silent.Kenny continued.
"Every sorcerer hears a voice after their awakening. Some receive ordinary spells. Others awaken exclusive spells."
His expression serious
"But despite centuries of research..."
"no one knows what that voice actually is."
"No one knows where it comes from."
His expression blank.
"So..."
"If you're asking me what that voice was..."
"I'm afraid you're asking the same question every sorcerer on this planet has been trying to answer."
Before Kelvin could say another word
Ding.
The elevator came to a gentle stop. The doors slowly slid open. The Administration office had arrived.
