Chapter 11 - The Forerunner

******

And there was light, then there was none.

Truly this day, week, month or even year has been the most insane one in his lifetime. The lost child couldn't tell how much time has passed, but he could somehow tell about a week passed in the red sky phenomenon in Evore. So give or take a month has passed. One crazy ass month..

The light seeped into his body, it felt in a way unburdening. He has never felt so free before, the freedom felt almost orgasmic. The light hit him and left him like to good be true relationship, and left him wanting her back like never to be forgotten ex.

'Such a tease.'

Regardless he had to navigate his way out of this. For one Adonis stopped drowning, an at least he could see a source of light. A red film that gave a viscous feeling, the world had become a wavering pane of a liquid red glass, that gave an almost opaque feel.

Beyond it, the moon burned like a pale red god staring into an endless abyss. Its silver light fractured across the restless surface, breaking into a thousand dancing shards that rippled with every breath the lake seemed to take.

Then came the rain.

Each droplet struck the water with a muted bloom, sending circles racing across the red silver mirror. From beneath, every impact looked like the fingertip of heaven pressing gently against the world, dimpling the surface before vanishing into countless trembling rings.

The rain did not fall toward him.

It came for the moon.

Every drop shattered its reflection, only for the light to gather itself again, refusing to remain broken.

He reached upward.

His hand stopped inches beneath the surface.

The moon seemed close enough to touch, yet an entire world separated us. Adonis fingertips traced the underside of the water, watching it bend around them without breaking, as though an invisible veil refused to let me return. Almost like everything earlier was just a dream, he could now feel. Not the former burden that he was earlier relieved of no. He felt human again, his eyes dimmed, the pressure around him almost suffocating him. Adonis could feel body parts that had eluded him this past months, and the drowning feeling appeared again. He swam up with all his might trying to reach the surface of the water. But it didn't budge, he move upwards trying to break out of the viscous membrane that was the red water surface. He stopped trashing for a while and look up again, he then took a deep breath and shut his eyes, swimming up again. This time the viscous feel was absent, the first thing he tasted was iron.

It coated the outcast tongue, clung to his throat, and lingered in every breath as he rose from the crimson pool that had become his cradle. Thick blood streamed from the outcast glowing body in slow ribbons before surrendering to the lake beneath him, as though it had never truly belonged to Adonis in the first place. Like the true depth of the blood pool was but a mere illusion, he walked towards the shore of crimson pool. Blood continued to stream down from his body like red mercury ribbon, with his pale glowing skin it created an eerily picture.

For a fleeting instant, it was no longer a pool.

It became a mirror.

A city stared back.

Sodom the City of Sin.

Not the void and abandoned image he saw from outside the city. No it was full of life, strange life..

The bubbly streets with clamoring merchants and customers. Children running around playing, teenagers chasing after them to prevent them from causing more chaos. The avenues lined up with bright lanterns, women haggling jewelry prices with merchants, brothels with prostitutes dancing sensually dressed scantily, drunk foolish men trying to get a free pass.

That would have the first thing you would have noticed if you ignored the multitude of giants. Nearly twenty feet in height, their broad shoulders casting long shadows across the crimson chamber and the surrounding lanterns. Some of their skin where as dark as polished obsidian, drinking in the dim light until only the sharp edges of their powerful forms remained while others where as pale as snow or of normal human skin tone. Others where of stranger forms cause they weren't of the humanoid form. Every movement carried a impossible feel, a very suffocating feel. Rather than feeling the grandeur of this grand beings beings, they smelt rotten. A mixture of sulphur, soot and bile. They felt and smelt like rot, their eyes too matched his.

'This feeling' His mind went back to Zero, when he over stepped his bounds. Like they could decide his death with a blink of an eye.

Rather than the sharp death, what was promised to him was slow decay. Then Adonis heard a bored voice on his futher right.

"Could ya'll piss off, and find some else to screw in the asshole" The voice sounded alot like Zero but almost as if he gain something.

Yes like he got something, he sounded more human, more relaxed. Outside he sounded exactly as my speculation, a god. Like someone drained to talk to a mortal, pretending to be human at the same time wanted you to know his act. Adonis turned towards him, double his original height, looking like a small hill especially the way he sinfully layed on his side. His free-flowing blonde braids draped his sexy upper body, since his new scantily clad silver linen clothing. A see-through shirt that barely hanged on his left shoulder, with the glaze silver baggy underneath. The material looked wet, but there was any water on his body.

Adonis looked at the familiar stranger that seemed to pull of his facial features more than he ever could.

"Is it charisma or aura?" He moped jealously. A frown would have appeared on his face if he had one. A gentle breeze blew past him pouring sand on his face but for Zero..

Everything seemed to work extra to improve his beauty, the breeze made the charms and trinkets on his braids chime softly. He seemed to have an obsession with the silver theme. His long earing and long nose piercing softly chimed with the wind, the astral sky annoying didn't fail to worship his theme. As his glowing silver pupils matched Adonis gaze. Adonis noticed his irises seemed to have changed more the human form to something that looked like a white 12 pointed star, that seems to still be moving.

"Zero" Adonis breathed. He looked exotically divine, beyond divine infact.

"What happened? Cat caught your tongue?" He hummed in an amuzed tone.

"Do like your working legs? How does it feel to be able to walk after almost 2 months.

"Almost 2 months.. That long huh" Adonis mummered

"Introduction is really due now, since you won't fall victim to corruption here."

Adonis raised his head at the mention of corruption. The concept that has burned in him he got here.

"I'm the one in dream you had earlier, remember??"

His frame roose up as he paced toward to Adonis.

"I am your forerunner...

My name is Zero and I'm you."
