Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Setting Sail

Chapter 34: Setting Sail

This Bentley had to be picked up from the designated Bentley dealership in Shanghai.

Although he wished he could get his hands on the car immediately, at this moment he could only barely suppress his excitement.

"Anyway, it's only a few days. I can wait," Zhang Yang thought.

With a Bentley coming, this Porsche Cayenne didn't feel quite as impressive anymore. But it didn't matter. If he wanted to keep it later, he would keep it. If not, he could sell it or let his father drive it.

After the excitement, it was already close to one in the morning. Zhang Yang quickly lay down and went to sleep, making the most of his time.

Early the next morning, the family of three went out together to finalize the matter of opening the restaurant.

Northeast Yinghai City, outside a newly delivered residential complex.

Zhang Yang drove the Porsche, carrying his parents and parking outside the row of street shops.

"Son, what do you think of this place?" Zhang Zhaohai got out of the car and straightened his clothes.

Zhang Yang looked around. Along the way he had already seen several construction sites, with engineering vehicles constantly passing by. Workers wearing safety helmets could be seen from time to time, and every few steps there were small carts selling boxed meals and breakfast.

"Dad, which shop did you have your eye on?" Zhang Yang asked.

"Right there in front." Zhang Zhaohai pointed at an empty storefront ahead.

"Your dad has come here several times already. He's very satisfied," Song Wenqin said with a smile. "Where to place the tables, how to arrange the kitchen-he already has everything planned in his mind."

Zhang Yang and his parents looked around the shop together.

The walls had already been painted white, and the water and electricity systems were installed. Once the kitchen equipment was brought in, the tables and chairs set up, and the signboard hung outside, the small restaurant could open immediately.

The landlord stood nearby. Seeing the brand-new Porsche Cayenne not far away, he didn't dare underestimate them and enthusiastically introduced the place.

The shop had two floors. The first floor could hold tables for regular diners, and the second floor had several private rooms that could accommodate small gatherings.

There wasn't much else to examine about the place, and the rent was the standard market price.

There was no reason to hesitate.

"Let's take it, Dad," Zhang Yang said, making the decision for Zhang Zhaohai.

Running a home-style stir-fry restaurant would work well here, and business probably wouldn't be bad. After all, food, clothing, housing, and transportation are people's basic needs.

There were many construction workers nearby, and the shop was right next to this newly delivered residential community. The future potential was actually quite promising.

"Then it's settled!" Zhang Zhaohai said decisively.

With his son backing him up, there was nothing to hesitate about.

On the spot, Zhang Zhaohai signed the lease with the landlord and rented it for two years.

"We'll call it Haiqin Snacks." Zhang Zhaohai put his arm around his wife and took one character from each of their names to create the shop's name. Even though it was only a small restaurant, his eyes were full of ambition.

"Later it can be called Haiqin Restaurant. After that it could become Haiqin Grand Hotel," Zhang Yang added from the side. "Eventually, we might as well go all the way and call it Haiqin Banquet Center-complete wedding banquet services."

"You brat, your vision is quite long-term!" Zhang Zhaohai laughed with great satisfaction.

Song Wenqin couldn't help smiling as well.

Neither of them truly took Zhang Yang's words seriously. But whether old or young, who doesn't have dreams? At least for now, in their eyes, the future grand restaurant had officially set sail.

Watching his parents' joyful expressions, Zhang Yang smiled.

When he was a child, his parents had been his whole world. Now, he finally had the ability to help fulfill one of their dreams.

Zhang Yang transferred 500,000 yuan to Zhang Zhaohai as the startup fund for the restaurant.

Of course, opening a small restaurant wouldn't need nearly that much. The rest of the money was simply Zhang Yang's way of supporting his parents so they wouldn't have to be overly frugal in their daily lives.

At noon, Zhang Yang drove his parents to eat at Haidilao.

Inside the restaurant at lunchtime, every seat was filled.

The family of three sat at a table. They ordered a split pot with spicy chili oil broth and tomato broth, along with plates of fatty lamb slices, tripe, duck intestines, chicken gizzards, and other hotpot ingredients.

While drinking sour plum juice, Zhang Zhaohai looked at the bustling Haidilao and sighed, "If a restaurant business can reach this level, that's truly the peak."

A passing waiter noticed that Zhang Zhaohai's cup of sour plum juice was nearly empty and immediately stopped to refill it.

"Oh, thank you, thank you." Zhang Zhaohai felt embarrassed to drink too quickly. The enthusiasm of the Haidilao staff made this middle-aged man, who was used to doing everything himself, feel a little unaccustomed.

Meanwhile, Song Wenqin dipped tripe into the hotpot while muttering nervously.

Both husband and wife were the kind of people who adapted easily. When money was tight, they knew how to save. When things were better, they still avoided waste but wouldn't complain endlessly about spending money on a hotpot meal.

That would just be old-fashioned and spoil the mood.

Sometimes it was better to simply enjoy eating and drinking together as a family.

Every May Day, the family gathered at Zhang Yang's grandmother's house. This year was no exception.

Besides their family, Song Wenqin's two elder sisters and their families would also come. And of course, the ever-present Uncle Song Wenbo's family.

"Dad, Mom, after we finish eating, let's buy you some new clothes," Zhang Yang said, putting down the tomato–celery beef soup that the waitress had just mixed for him.

In previous family gatherings, their family had always been the most plainly dressed, while his uncle's family looked the most triumphant.

But today, it was their turn to shine.

It wasn't about deliberately showing off. In life, sometimes people inevitably compete over such things.

"Going to Grandma's house-what's wrong with what I'm wearing?" Song Wenqin looked down at her clothes in surprise, not seeing anything inappropriate.

She thought she looked perfectly decent.

"Why think so much?" Zhang Zhaohai laughed. "If our son wants to buy something, we'll wear it. There's nothing complicated about it."

That afternoon, Zhang Yang took his parents shopping in the mall.

His sense of style and ability to choose clothes were no longer what they used to be. Spending around ten thousand yuan immediately transformed the couple's appearance into that of a well-off family.

Especially Song Wenqin. With the bracelet worth over a hundred thousand on her wrist, her overall presence rose noticeably.

Looking at Zhang Zhaohai's empty wrist, Zhang Yang thought that when his father's birthday came, he would definitely buy him a luxury watch.

As evening approached, the family prepared to head to Grandma's house.

Before getting into the car, Zhang Zhaohai deliberately took a pack of Tianzhiye cigarettes and slipped it into his pocket, planning to hand some out.

"Dad, one cigarette might not satisfy Uncle," Zhang Yang whispered quietly while his mother walked ahead.

"One cigarette isn't enough? He wants a whole pack?" Zhang Zhaohai widened his eyes.

A pack cost over a thousand. Was he crazy to hand an entire pack to Song Wenbo?
