Darkness shrouded the room for quite some time.
A faint tapping sound was heard on the floor several times.
Faint flickers of light from Anima Eugenes were visible a few times.
The light clearly belonged to Obsidia, enveloping her right hand.
Obsidia's hand picked something up from the floor.
Then... a small, rapid scraping sound sparked a few times.
After repeating it over and over, a sudden hissing sound, fssst... was heard.
Right between the tips of Obsidia's thumb and forefinger, a small flame appeared from the tip of a very small wooden stick. That tiny flame reignited the candle wick.
Silence filled the room for a moment.
The warm, yellowish candlelight slowly illuminated the room once again as it had before.
"Ryota Takagi...," Obsidia's soft voice resonated in the room.
Ascella's body was lying on the floor, right beside her, Sinhart's body lay parallel to hers.
Obsidia, standing some distance from the two children, slowly stepped closer. The candlelight increasingly illuminated their bodies.
Ascella's face still looked sweaty. Her collar and neck were still damp. Even so, her breathing, which had been weak, began to return to normal, though she had not yet regained consciousness.
The same went for Sinhart's body. The bruises and tears previously visible on his hands and head had now vanished, as if the injuries had never happened.
Not to mention the clothes of both, which were as clean as new. The bloodstains that had previously covered them were gone, God knows where.
A tapping sound of two pieces of wood was heard near them. Precisely after Obsidia placed the candle plate she was holding onto the floor. Obsidia's knees touched the floor, right between the bodies of Ascella and Sinhart. Obsidia's hands rested on the shoulders of both children.
The Anima Eugenes energy on Obsidia's right hand vanished. In its place, something appeared on Obsidia's hand—green lines tracing her nerve paths. A magical energy flowed within. Unlike the Anima energy that usually overflowed when it appeared, that green energy began to crawl like roots. It attached itself to the bodies of Sinhart and Ascella.
Two green sparkles appeared. One came from a ring with a green gem on Ascella's index finger, and one appeared from beneath Sinhart's clothes.
Once again, the air blew softly.
Sweeping the candle flame.
The candlelight flickered, illuminating Obsidia's face.
Obsidia's hands, which had been resting there, lifted.
The loose fabric at her wrists pushed the air around them.
Sweeping the candlelight away.
The green shimmer in her eyes flickered.
Both bodies lying on the floor disappeared just like Tezza.
Obsidia stood up slowly once more. Leaving the candle plate on the floor. Her shadow cast against the wall, slowly moving to one side of the floor filled with blood. Her feet stepped cautiously, not wanting to tread in the puddles of blood that were beginning to dry.
The corpse of the man in front of her lay dead with a face that could no longer be recognized. Obsidia's green eyes observed his clothes.
Even though it was covered in blood.
A golden-yellow pattern could be seen on his black shirt. Right above his left pocket, a name tag was tightly affixed, reading:
"Dr. Xavier Vaistor." After saying it slowly, Obsidia took another step.
Her stride stopped when the tip of her toe nudged something on the floor. The object rolled slightly, and before it could roll any further, Obsidia picked it up quickly. The candlelight, being quite far away, was unable to clearly illuminate what Obsidia held in her hand.
"With this, everything starts to make sense...," Obsidia muttered after observing the object for a moment.
Obsidia then stored the object in a pocket hidden within the layers of her skirt.
Obsidia's eyes stared deeply from where she stood.
At the pile of barrels and crates that were broken and stacked irregularly.
Full of fluid trails that looked black due to the darkness.
"How miserable is what you have done," she muttered after her eyes found something in the pile.
Although only dimly visible in the darkness, behind some shards of rough wood, two small bodies were motionless. One was covered in blood and pierced by many sharp wooden points, while the other was bleeding only from its hands, lying face up on a crate with its mouth wide open and filled with foam.
Obsidia stared at the two bodies for quite a while. She turned to face the candlelight.
"Is that the reason Ryota Takagi killed you," Obsidia murmured, her eyes looking back at the man's corpse on the floor.
"But his feelings were more like... feelings that were held back, then exploded all at once."
"I still don't understand these things. Do I need help?"
After a few moments of silence, the green light that had appeared on Obsidia's hand returned.
The room's floor vibrated weakly at a high frequency.
The air blew, sweeping the candle wick softly.
The candlelight flickered for a moment.
Obsidia's shadow disappeared.
No silhouette of her brown dress was to be seen.
Her body had truly departed from that room on the ship.
The messy room fell into silence. Leaving behind parts that were uncomfortable to imagine.
Footsteps walked weakly into that space.
The candlelight illuminated a body that was uncomfortable to imagine.
A mysterious person, whom Obsidia had not realized was watching everything the whole time.
Then, without warning, the body collapsed to the floor.
Striking the candle on the floor with a hard thud.
The light that had been juxtaposed with darkness all this time.
Finally died, consumed by the darkness itself.
