"Have a guilty conscience?"
James raised his eyebrows.
His expression was very cold, and his eyes scrutinized her.
He was so close she could even feel his breathing.
Yvonne's expression felt uneasy. She quickly took a step back to increase the distance between them.
"How am I guilty?"
He noticed that she intentionally distanced herself from him. His eyes swept over her face and fell on his wristwatch. "Let's go. It's almost time."
He reached out to grab her hand, but she dodged him.
"What do you mean it's about time?"
Hearing her words, he frowned. "My mother invited you home for dinner tonight."
Only then did she remember. "I didn't agree."
He reasoned. "You didn't reject."
"That... that's because both of you left before I could even speak."
She stammered.
He narrowed his eyes and hooked his lips. "I don't care if it's too late or if you have acquiesced. In short, you have to keep your promise."
