KEIFER'S POV:
The hospital hallway felt suffocatingly cold.
I stood in front of the operating room doors without moving, my eyes fixed on the glowing red light above them.
"SURGERY IN PROGRESS."
That damn light had been on for almost two hours.
Aries kept pacing back and forth across the hallway aggressively, occasionally dragging frustrated hands through his hair while muttering curses under his breath.
Percy leaned silently against the wall with crossed arms, jaw clenched tightly.
Yuri sat on one of the waiting chairs nearby, nervously shaking his leg while staring at the floor, And Angelo-
He stood near the window unusually quiet.
Nobody looked at each other much.
Because nobody wanted to say the thing all of us were thinking.
What if Jay didn't make it?
My fists clenched automatically at the thought.
No…She has to wake up.
Aries suddenly kicked the nearby vending machine in frustration.
"This is taking too damn long!"
"Relax," Percy muttered tiredly. "Losing your mind won't help!"
"Relax?!" Aries snapped
immediately. "Jay's literally fighting for her life in there!"
Yuri looked up quietly,"Stop yelling..."
Aries dragged both hands down his face roughly before sitting down for barely two seconds—
only to stand up again immediately.
He couldn't stay still,None of us could. Then suddenly-
Angelo's phone rang the sharp sound echoed loudly through the hallway. Everyone looked toward him instantly.
Angelo frowned slightly before answering, "Hello?"
The moment the call started, I noticed his expression change.
Slowly,His face lost color.
My stomach tightened immediately.
Something was wrong…Very wrong
Percy noticed too "What happened?"
Angelo stayed silent for a few seconds while listening carefully to whoever was speaking.
Then slowly he lowered the phone.
Nobody spoke.
The tension in the hallway became suffocating.
Aries stepped forward first.
"Kuya?"
Angelo swallowed hard before finally speaking quietly "The police investigated the crash."
I straightened slightly against the wall, Every muscle in my body suddenly tense.
"And? what did they say?" Percy asked sharply.
Angelo looked toward the operating room doors briefly before answering.
"It wasn't an accident."
Then Complete silence.
Yuri frowned immediately.
"What do you mean it wasn't an accident?"
Angelo ran a hand through his hair roughly, Like even saying the words hurt.
"The truck driver didn't lose control."
Something cold settled violently inside my chest.
Aries stopped moving completely.
Percy slowly uncrossed his arms.
And somehow…I already knew the next sentence would destroy me.
Angelo finally continued.
"It was intentional..a murder attempt"
What…
"Jay was standing in the middle of the road when the truck approached her." As he kept talking
My jaw tightened painfully.
"The witnesses said the truck slowed down at first.." Angelo said quietly.
Then his voice lowered even more.
"and then accelerated toward her."
Everything inside me went silent.
The world around me disappeared instantly. All I could see was the image forming inside my head.
Jay alone in the middle of the road.
Crying, Broken And headlights rushing toward her.
CRACK
My fist slammed against the wall before I even realized it.
Yuri flinched violently😬
Fresh blood immediately split across my knuckles again, dripping slowly onto the hospital wall, But I didn't feel anything.
Aries stared at Angelo in disbelief.
"You're saying someone intentionally hit her?!"
"The police are treating it as attempted murder," Angelo answered quietly.
"That's insane," Percy muttered, running a hand through his hair. "Who the hell would do something like that?"
Yuri slowly stood from his chair, shaking badly now.
"No... no, this doesn't make sense.." His voice cracked slightly. "Jay didn't even do anything to anyone...'
Nobody answered him. Because nobody had an answer.
I slowly lowered my head, trying to breathe normally—didn't work, my chest felt tight…Too tight.
Because the last thing I remembered was Jay crying because of me.
Running away because of me.
Now she was lying unconscious behind those doors because someone saw her vulnerable and decided to kill her.
Aries suddenly kicked one of the waiting chairs hard enough for it to slide across the hallway.
"Damn it!" Percy cursed quietly under his breath "Did they catch the driver?"
"No," Angelo answered. "The truck disappeared after the crash."
"Of course he did" Aries snapped angrily "Coward bastard."
Yuri looked horrified "You think someone planned this?"
Angelo hesitated and that alone was enough.
Percy looked toward me carefully.
Probably expecting me to explode too…But I couldn't.
I felt too cold Too numb That scared them more.
I stared silently at the blood dripping from my knuckles then laughed bitterly under my breath.
A broken sound.
"She was probably terrified.."The words slipped out quietly.
The hallway immediately fell silent again.
Yuri looked away instantly.
Aries clenched his jaw tightly.
Even Percy stopped talking.
Because for the first time—I sounded completely destroyed, I dragged a hand down my face slowly.
"She was alone..."My voice barely sounded like mine anymore.
The image wouldn't leave my head.
Jay standing there while that truck came toward her.
Did she freeze?
Did she cry?
Did she think nobody would save her?
The thought nearly tore me apart.
Angelo suddenly spoke again, quieter this time "Keifer…this isn't your fault."
I looked at him immediately and judging from the way everyone froze- my expression must've looked terrifying.
Because Angelo immediately stopped talking.
My jaw tightened violently.
"She ran because of me."
Silence
Nobody denied it, Because they knew it too.
I closed my eyes briefly, anger and guilt twisting violently inside my chest.💔
Then Angelo quietly added—
"The witnesses said the driver had enough time to stop."
Something inside me snapped completely.
I looked toward the operating room doors again, the red light still glowed above them.
Jay was still inside.
Still unconscious.
Still fighting for her life.
Because someone touched her.
A dangerous calm settled over me slowly.
The kind before destruction.
Then finally-I spoke Cold and quietly
"Find the driver."
Nobody moved, Nobody even breathed properly.
I wiped the blood from my hand slowly before continuing without emotion.
"Before I find him myself⚡️."
Aries stared at me carefully.
"Keifer.."But I cut him off instantly.
"If Jay dies..."My voice came out terrifyingly calm.
Yuri visibly froze.
Percy looked away.
And Angelo lowered his head silently.
I kept my eyes on the surgery doors as I finished quietly—
"I'll bury everyone involved🔥"
That's right, they touched what's mine, they hurt her, tried to kill her…
