Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: A good start on the first day of school

Hoshino glanced at Slowking's status information and found nothing unusual, but this guy was indeed very strong, even if his move set was very strange…

Since it wasn't a Pokémon's ability problem, then it could only be them themselves, or rather, their identity. Slowking was Boss Slowking, so naturally, it was different.

After all, if you think about it this way, between an ordinary person and a big boss, whose favor is more useful? The difference becomes clear, and the answer is right there!

"I get it. To get some good talents, I need to interact with Pokémon of different statuses and positions."

Although it was still just a guess, Hoshino felt that this was probably the reason. However, he would never treat Pokémon who came to him for help differently just to get good talents.

Talents might differ, but friendship is priceless!

But let's put that aside for now. He immediately equipped himself with [Not Slow at All], but his first reaction was that he felt nothing. So he turned to Cyclizar and deliberately tilted his head.

"Cycli?"

"Are you asking me what I'm doing?"

"Cycli~"

Cyclizar nodded, and now Hoshino pretty much understood the use of this talent.

It wasn't about being able to understand Pokémon language; it was simply about increasing the level of comprehension, allowing one to roughly understand what the other party was saying from factors like growl, demeanor, and actions.

At least it wasn't like before, where he was completely confused by foreign languages. Hoshino even felt that if given enough time, he could truly understand completely.

The improvement in learning ability might be for this purpose: to understand and to learn simultaneously. Boss Slowking truly gave him a good talent.

"So, where's my swallowed compensation?"

"Cycli~"

...

Time flew by, and it was already the next day, a Monday, the day for school.

Last night, while having dinner at the Izakaya, Slowking had already told him that his assigned class was Class 1, Grade 4, at Pokémon School.

Although it felt like going to elementary school, Hoshino still remembered it. However, as a transfer student, he had to report to the academic affairs office first.

He hadn't been to Nai-chan's restaurant for a week, so before going to school, he had to make a trip there. It would also be a good opportunity to utilize his talent, learn more, and get breakfast sorted.

But unfortunately, Nai-chan wasn't there today. Smile Restaurant was closed, and perhaps to prevent customers or him from waiting foolishly, there was a message note pasted on the door.

It said in light blue watercolor pen that the boss had gone to buy ingredients and would be temporarily closed for two days. The handwriting style was quite girlish, and there was a heart drawn around the words, with a small Gardevoir avatar next to it.

"As expected of Nai-chan..."

Hoshino wanted to complain but didn't know where to start. He had subtly inquired from Boss Slowking and learned that Nai-chan seemed to be over 30 years old.

However, for a Pokémon, discussing age always felt a bit strange...

Breakfast was gone, and Hoshino had no choice but to take Cyclizar and go back home.

He definitely wouldn't let Boss Slowking off the hook so easily after swallowing a large sum of his compensation. Last night, while having dinner, he raided the bar counter and snatched a pile of snacks back...

Breakfast was sorted, and he was officially going to school. The location of Pokémon School had been confirmed on the map; it was located southwest of Hau'oli City.

It was adjacent to the city, separated by a patch of woods, and on the other side, it bordered the sea. It was a relatively quiet area with a good learning atmosphere and environment.

There were Exeggutor buses directly from the city to the school. Of course, those with rideable Pokémon could go directly, and those without didn't need to panic.

In the Alola Region, there were people who specialized in this kind of business, and they were everywhere. They would rent out well-trained rideable Pokémon to other Trainers for convenient travel.

However, the price was very expensive because a portion of the money earned had to be given to the Pokémon. Some of these Pokémon were domesticated, while others were wild; they just worked here and then spent their earnings in Kabukicho after work...

Hoshino rode Cyclizar, quickly leaving the Wanderer District. As he came out, he was again chased by those Meowth and Rattata, a dense swarm.

Anyone who didn't know might think he was the boss of these guys, about to lead his subordinates out to fight some unknown dark forces.

"What kind of treatment is this? Going to school with such a grand send-off, I'm even embarrassed."

Hoshino smiled. He had no complaints about these dedicated Pokémon, and it was quite fun to tease them normally.

Continuing to ride Cyclizar along the road, he suddenly thought of something and muttered, "By the way, when was the last time I went to school? It seems like I haven't been to school since graduating. I'm suddenly a bit nervous, what should I do?"

Just as he was thinking about these questions, from the surrounding uninhabited buildings, a group of long-waiting hunters suddenly made their move!

"Meow!"

Alolan Meowth are cunning and intelligent, with high self-esteem and IQ. After several failures, they had naturally come up with a strategy of staking out and ambushing.

"Cycli!"

"Huh?"

Looking at the pile of Meowth falling from mid-air, Hoshino suddenly snapped back to reality and quickly began to control Cyclizar to dodge. But what they didn't expect was that the manhole cover on the road ahead suddenly flew up!

Then a Raticate, leading a group of Rattata, jumped out and directly hugged Cyclizar's legs, with some even climbing up.

Hoshino was startled, stomped on the brake, got hit by the Meowth from above, and then rolled out with Cyclizar. Now he couldn't laugh; teasing cats every day, he finally crashed!

Seeing their plan succeed, these stray Pokémon looked smug and mercilessly pounced on Hoshino, starting to pull at his clothes or just bite directly.

"Ow, ow, ow!!!"

"Don't scratch my face... Don't pull down my pants, and don't pinch..."

The pitiful and helpless Hoshino let out various strange cries. Finally, Cyclizar swung its tail, throwing off these stray Pokémon, then bit onto the blood-soaked Hoshino, accelerated, and fled the scene, starting the day with a bang.

...

At Hau'oli Pokémon School, the warm sun illuminated every corner of the school. As a Komala rang the bell, today's classes officially began.

In Class 1, Grade 4, more than a dozen vibrant students sat in their seats, not taking the class bell seriously, and continued chatting.

However, among them, there was one girl who had already taken out the textbook for this class, placed it on her desk, and was very quietly waiting for the teacher to arrive.

She sat by the window, her golden long hair gently swaying with the sea breeze outside the window. A faint smile hung on her fair and lovely face, but in her emerald green eyes, a hint of melancholy seemed to be hidden...

Just then, the classroom door suddenly opened, and a man in a white coat with a bare chest walked in. It was none other than Professor Kukui, the homeroom teacher of this class!

Looking at the students who hadn't noticed him yet, he didn't get angry. He just clapped the table and shouted, "Alola~ Students, quiet down, there's something important to say here!"

"Hmm?"

Seeing everyone gradually quiet down, Professor Kukui said with a smile, "The transfer student who couldn't come last week finally arrived today!"

"Eh! Really?"

"Finally! Another opponent to add to the list. I hope they're really strong!"

"Haha, I hope so too!"

"Sun, you and Kiawe can keep messing around, just don't make anyone introverted again..."

"How could that be, Class Monitor? You're the one I aim to defeat~"

"Heh, go to bed."

Watching the students get more and more excited, Professor Kukui smiled and shouted, "I know you're all very happy, but please quiet down and listen to me first!

"This student is actually going to school for the first time due to some reasons. If he has any questions he doesn't understand, you all should help him more. You're all classmates in the same class, so you must get along well!"

"Got it, let him come in already (ecstatic)"

These students were already eager to meet their new classmate, after all, this was a friend they would be spending at least three more years with.

Professor Kukui also knew they were excited, but he motioned for them to quiet down, then said, "I haven't met him yet either. He should be at the academic affairs office right now, and he'll be here soon..."

Before he could finish, there was a sudden knock on the classroom door, instantly attracting everyone's attention.

"Speaking of the devil, please come in!"

As his voice fell, the door was slowly pushed open. Everyone looked over expectantly, but upon seeing the person who entered, their expectation abruptly ceased, and in the next moment, turned into horror.

Hoshino, looking as if he had just returned from a battlefield, stood at the doorway with blood-stained goggles hanging around his neck, covered in injuries, bandages wrapped everywhere, and his school uniform stained blood red.

Then, under the horrified gazes of everyone, he nonchalantly staggered in, head lowered, not looking at anyone else.

He then somewhat laboriously raised his hand and greeted, "Um... what was it again... Hello, everyone... No, it should be Alola..."

"Alola, my foot!"
