Chapter 47 - The Demon Talus.

Prologue:

It has been over 10 years since Daniel has defeated the evil demonic god of old, "Nyarlathotep," son of the old god "Azathoth." In the struggle the great wasp warrior Tatu laid down his life against the evil Lord Tep to give our heroes a fighting chance and to buy enough time for our main hero Daniel to wake up from his coma. In the battle between Daniel and Tep, the Cosmos was destroyed and in a deal with the Great Caterpillar Daniel could return to life and defeat Tep who transformed into a revived Azathoth but there was a catch. Daniel renounced his reincarnation-status as the Gatekeeper and agreed to hand it over to his old best friend and rival Zaiyal. Meaning when he died it was for keeps this time and he would not reincarnate. From now on the reincarnation-cycle of the Gate Keeper would be in the hands of the alien warrior Zaiyal. Daniel would tell Zaiyal of this when Zaiyal returned to the planet and Zaiyal agreed that this was a wise solution. In that time much has happened. On the planet Izador Zaiyal had defeated the evil space tyrant an evil Izadoran warlord and conqueror known as "the Black Wolf," who threatened to enslave his own people and eventually the rest of the Universe. Zaiyal along with Sarai the Izadoran would return home to Planet Helios and raise their family after Lord Tep was destroyed by Daniel. Narcis the elf would go on to defeat the evil Demon King Yakku saving the Spirit World from eternal enslavement and would go on to continue his training for two more years before returning back to Planet Helios. He would go on to debate the spirit of the famous Jain monk; "Kundakunda." The two debated over the supremacy of either Buddhism or Jainism. They agreed on several points including on the non-existence of God which is a central point of the Jain religion, an atheistic cult but not central to Buddhism (though God is not emphasized or said to be true). But they disagreed upon the meaning of life and the role of suffering. In the end the debate between the Jain Kundakunda and the Buddhist Narcis was a draw and it was not conclusive on whether Buddhism or Jainism was the superior cult. Narcis continued to practice strict Theravada Buddhism and learned in the Spirit World

that he was the reincarnation of Subhuti who was one of Gautama Buddha's disciples back in northern India around the year 500 BCE on planet earth. Narcis would gain enlightenment and truly achieve Buddhahood and become a Buddha in the spirit world taking on the role of a Bodhisattva. Ungar would see off his old master the Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as he went to the other world and turned into a Cherry Blossom tree. Ungar had much to achieve and he still had another 500,000,000,000,000 years before he achieved the full-power of the ancient race of the Star People. 10 years after the defeat of Lord Tep and Azathoth had perished, our heroes were getting ready to head to the wedding of Azathoth's half-breed son Oliver and his elf wife Luna, the adopted-daughter of the Wasp Tatu from our previous tale. They had in the square with the statue of Tatu to honor the being who sacrificed his life for the world he once sought to conquer. Everything was quite lively and it was a particularly beautiful day and the great Bear Warrior "Sir Rhyme," was even able to make it. But meanwhile somewhere else in another world a lonely being was completing his task for the day.

Chapter I: The Demon Talus.

"Another day, another victim," said the demon. He was a demon with pale skin and spiky white hair with green eyes and long claws protruding from the five fingers on each hand. He had four fangs; two on the upper and lower part of his mouth and large pointy ears like an elf's but a little larger that were great for hearing. His name was Talus and he was a demon who was born 10,000 years ago out of nothing but pure darkness. This being was not good or evil although he might appear to be one or the other depending on the circumstance but empty. In short this was not a moral or immoral being but an amoral being not interested in survival but in pleasure. And the only thing that gave Talus pleasure in life was a

challenging battle if he died or could die in the battle. Talus did not fear death one bit, he only feared boredom. And today was another boring day. Talus was walking down a hallway fitted with skulls. Another demon, an ugly brute with sharp fangs and fungus growing out of his skull walked up to Talus. "Well if it isn't the little runt. You really are a puny piece of pus," said the monster. "Hehe, you really are a fool Grog. Maybe I should teach you another lesson you won't forget," said Talus. "You got lucky last time Talus, that's all." said Grog. Talus smirked and began to lick his lips. "Then why not fight me now?" There was a short pause. "I'm busy, that's why in any event count yourself lucky. I'm outta here, peace!" said Grog. Talus smirked and laughed; 'if only he provided a suitable challenge,' he walked off to his room where there was plenty of food. The skinny brute despite his appearance was a glutton and began to eat everything meat, cheese, fruits, vegetables Talus behaved more like a black hole around food than a sentient mortal being even considering the fact that he was a shape-shifting wolf demon. Talus felt that something was missing in his life but he couldn't put his finger on what it was. As he began to devour large amounts of food. It was just another day for this cold-hearted wolf demon.

Meanwhile on Helios, everyone got together for the wedding of Oliver and Luna. The wedding was held at the old reception hall of Helios University held in front of a giant statue of the Wasp-man warrior Tatu who gave his life in order to

protect the planet from Lord Nyarlathotep. The wedding was a glorious occasion and everyone had a great time. Ungar was there although he didn't eat anything as he did not have that capability. Sarai and his wife and Zaiyal and his wife were there. Narcis was there teaching the many children of Zaiyal, Sarai and Daniel the teachings of the Sutras, and a group of Dwarves were there selling there merchandise during the wedding ceremony. The sky was beautiful like something out of a painting and in the backdrop you could see the ocean and the trees of the forest behind the ceremony blowing in the wind. But Daniel felt that something was wrong, something didn't feel right during these times of peace. He remembered what his mother had told him for years; "It's always the most quiet before the storm." That night after the wedding had finished Daniel had a strange dream where the Caterpillar told him that though times were peaceful in their realms the experience of others was not so great and to head to the temple of Sumatra in the sky within two days time to learn more about the situation and to tell only a few to come with him although the others were entitled to know those being; Sir Rhyme, Ungar, Narcis, Zaiyal and Sarai. He also said that after Daniel and the others entered the portal they would no longer have access to the Caterpillar's council though he did not make it clear why this was. So Daniel told the others and in two days time the five of them flew up to Sumatra's temple in the sky. He told them that a great evil was about to befell the realm of the gods and it

was up to our heroes to stop it. The god Sumatra would open a portal to the realm of the gods but it was up to them to find 'the Tower of Heaven,' a giant tower leading straight into the heavens of that realm. Sumatra created the portal and our heroes entered it. On the other side was a forest and in the distant smoke. It was coming from a small village in the distance. They knew little of this world and the sun was almost completely down but they knew they had to act.
