Lucien POV
The first call started at six forty-five.
Tokyo a quarterly review with the Rhys Group's Asia-Pacific division that had been on the calendar for three weeks and that I'd nearly cancelled twice. I didn't cancel it.
The work didn't stop because other things were happening. That was a lesson I'd learned early and it had served me well: compartmentalise completely or lose everything.
I ran the Tokyo call from my home office before I was fully dressed, which was a habit Jin had long since stopped commenting on. Numbers, projections, a personnel issue in the Singapore office that needed resolving before it became something larger. I resolved it. The call ended at seven twenty.
By eight I was in the car.
The Rhys Group headquarters occupied three floors of a building that I owned outright, a decision I'd made eight years ago on the logic that paying rent to someone else was paying for the privilege of being asked to leave.
