Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Learning a New World

By his second birthday, Noor had developed enough motor control and vocal ability to start acting like a remarkably smart toddler. To his parents, it was just precocious development. Internally, it was the gradual reveal of a mind that could reshape their universe.

The Oswin family apartment was located high up in Lumina City, a massive, glowing metropolis on the capital planet of Terra Prime. Outside their transparent windows, floating vehicles zoomed through the sky, and shimmering energy shields kept the city's weather perfectly comfortable.

"Mama, what is Origin energy?" Noor asked innocently over breakfast, gazing out at the city.

Vicky nearly dropped her coffee cup. She exchanged a meaningful glance with Troy. "That is a very big question for a two-year-old, sweetie," she said gently. "Origin energy is the cosmic force that flows through everything in our universe. Cultivators absorb it into their bodies and souls to become stronger and bend the rules of the world."

*A beautifully simple explanation,* Noor thought, keeping his curious toddler face perfectly intact. *But she is describing systematic energy cultivation that allows direct reality manipulation. This is far beyond anything Earth ever achieved.*

"Can I learn about it?" Noor asked, carefully making his voice sound as childish and enthusiastic as possible.

Troy laughed with parental pride. "When you are older, son. Most people do not awaken their talents until they start absorbing Origin energy, usually around age eighteen. But if you want to study cultivation theory now, we can access the educational databases."

*Talent awakening,* Noor noted with interest. *So humans here have inherent supernatural abilities that manifest when they begin cultivation.*

The cultivation universe's information system proved to be even more revolutionary than Noor had realized. Unlike his previous Earth, where knowledge was locked behind paywalls and institutional barriers, this galactic human civilization had implemented a "universal education mandate." Every citizen had free access to all human knowledge.

*Three thousand years of shared knowledge,* Noor marveled as holographic screens filled their living room. *No wonder they blended technology and metaphysical principles so perfectly.*

By age two and a half, Noor had convinced his parents to let him use the children's learning databases. To Vicky and Troy, their brilliant son was just playing with advanced educational games. To Noor, it was a systematic analysis of a civilization that had solved problems Earth couldn't even dream of.

He learned that humanity controlled forty percent of the universe. They had survived a devastating elven invasion three millennia ago and used it as a catalyst to become a cosmic superpower. The government, known as United Humanity, operated as a massive meritocracy. "Qi Researchers"—people who discovered new techniques or created breakthrough technology—were valued even more than top-tier fighters.

*A refreshing change,* Noor thought. *They prioritize innovation and intellect over brute strength.*

But the historical records also revealed a growing crisis that threatened this peaceful civilization.

"Daddy, what are Void Creatures?" Noor asked one day, pointing to a holographic map showing chaotic, red battle zones.

Troy's warm smile faded. "They are entities from outside our universe, son. About fifty years ago, they started breaking through the barriers between realities. They create chaotic zones where the normal laws of physics stop working. Our cultivators and researchers are working together to stop them."

*Interdimensional invasion,* Noor realized, a cold sense of concern washing over him. *Enemies that break universal laws cannot be fought with normal weapons. This explains why this civilization values research so much. They need breakthroughs to survive.*

Vicky nodded grimly. "It is why the Nexus Records system has been issuing more defense quests lately. The universe itself is calling for champions to eliminate these cosmic beasts before they take permanent root in our reality."

*The Nexus Records system,* Noor thought, his mind racing with fascination. *A universe-wide tracking and reward mechanism?*

Over the next few months, his parents explained how it worked.

"Think of it like the universe's own record-keeping system," Vicky said during one of their learning sessions. "It tracks everyone's cultivation progress and achievements. When someone creates something truly outstanding—like a new technique or a breakthrough theory—the system rewards them with Enlightenment Chances."

*A cosmic system that encourages innovation by providing tangible rewards,* Noor observed. *This explains how humanity has maintained three thousand years of accelerating progress.*

Troy demonstrated his own holographic display. It listed his achievements in cultivation engineering and the modest Enlightenment Chances he had earned through his professional work.

"The system is completely private unless you choose to share," Troy explained. "You just think 'Status' to check your progress. But the real value comes from defense quests. When cosmic beasts threaten a system, the Nexus Records issues elimination quests with huge rewards for the defenders."

*A universe-wide system that gamifies both innovation and defense,* Noor mused, a small, hidden smile forming on his toddler face. *A brilliant approach to keeping an entire civilization motivated.*

He had found the rules of this new world. Now, he just had to figure out how to play the game better than anyone else.
