Xavier's POV
After my phone call to Mario and everything that had happened since I resumed work that morning, I was frustrated beyond words.
Honestly, tension coiled tight in every muscle of my body, my jaw clenched so hard it ached and my mind was a raging storm of doubts about Alfred, Lucifer, and the entire fucking case that I had thought was finally wrapped up.
I just couldn't believe that at this point and after everything we had done to catch Lucifer, questions still hammered at me relentlessly... Was Alfred really lying the first time? Was he lying now? Or was there some twisted truth in his desperate claims?
The uncertainty gnawed at my pride like acid, making my blood boil and all I could think about was releasing that unbearable pressure... fucking my frustration away until my head was completely clear and the rage subsided.
"Fuck." I cursed shaking my head because all I wanted right now was Hailey.
