Jace had to say, he was impressed with where the 'Lucky' stopwatch had led him to.
He understood exactly where he had gotten 'lucky'.
Astrologers were good at divinations and anti-divinations, meaning if Jace had used the dowsing rod divination without the lucky stopwatch, he likely would not have found the astrologer because their anti-divination was quite strong.
But he kept all his amazement aside and focused on the matter at hand.
He continued walking silently behind the astrologer, keeping a safe distance on the dark road, but it was now time for action.
From what he could sense and decrypt, the glove on the astrologer's hand was a sealed artifact corresponding to sequence 7, and the ring was a sealed artifact as well, which likely corresponded to lower sequence.
So the first thing he had to do was 'steal' the glove, as that was the most unpredictable variable.
From what he knew of them, Astrologers were sensitive to spiritual intuition, and they could interfere with other beyonder's divination as well as spiritual intuition.
However, Jace didn't need to worry too much about that because he was of a higher sequence and a Faceless at that. Faceless had default enhancements of anti-divination, and he also had great artifacts in his hand.
As for the other things astrologers could do, they could use tricks from their previous sequence, and the door opening ability, which was useless in a fight.
'This should be fairly easy,' he thought as he prepared himself.
He walked a little faster and got into the range of about 40 meters of the target. Fortunately, the astrologer hadn't noticed him yet.
With his spirit vision on, he looked and focused on the black glove on the astrologer's hand, and flicked his hand!
'Theft!'
In his hand appeared a black glove. He grasped it and shoved it into his pocket.
—
The astrologer felt a strange intuition as the glove on his left hand disappeared! He looked at his hand in an instant, only to see it bare without the glove!
His intuition triggered, and he looked back with his spirit vision on.
He saw a plain-looking young man with sharp eyes and short hair, throwing something at him. He saw that it was a poker card!
'What the hell!!'
It was clear to him that this young man was of a higher sequence than him.
The thing he found most horrifying was the fact that he hadn't sensed anything until the man had done something to take his glove away!
'Was I followed? But that's not possible!' ,Because the astrologer had used the crystal ball and used his anti-divination power, he was positive that he wasn't followed.
After a long while, a feeling of absolute terror came over him. The man before him was of an unknown pathway that he knew nothing about. His thoughts were in disarray, but he took a breath and calmed himself down.
'It doesn't matter, I have to escape first.'
The poker card that was thrown towards his head was easy to dodge. He moved his head as the card 'swiped' past his ear.
He turned ahead, away from the young man, as he used one of his 'tricks'. While preparing to run away, he saw the card that had flown past his head burst into flames.
The flame expanded and the same young man walked out of them!, He stopped dead in his tracks.
Surprise appeared on his face. 'He can teleport!?'
The young man was now about twenty meters away from him. He seemed to have stopped for a moment, looking at the astrologer with an amused smile.
The 'trick' that the astrologer had used came into effect, as the 'fog' emanated from his body and spread out with incredible speed, covering an area of about 30 meters.
The world around him got blurry with fog, but the astrologer was fine, as it was the effect of his own power.
The astrologer sensed that in the fog the young man had now started running towards him.
He realized that there was no point in running away since the man would directly teleport to him.
So he raised his hand toward where the young man was and pointed it at the legs.
'Freezing ray!' , A bluish-white ray shot out of his hand through the fog toward the blurry figure's legs and hit them. The figure slowed for a moment but continued running at him.
But a moment was enough for the astrologer to prepare. He used another one of his tricks called 'tumble' to make the ground around him slippery.
The young man, who was now about 7 meters away from him, slipped his leg, losing his balance for a split second.
The astrologer took this opportunity to clear the fog between them until he could see the young man clearly, and spread out his palm towards the man.
'Flash!', A bright and intense light emanated from his palm for a split second and blinded the young man.
Simultaneously, he used another trick called 'loud noise'.
'Boom!', An intense noise that was scratchy and layered went off loudly.
With the 'flash' and 'loud noise' used together, the young man before him was disoriented completely.
The astrologer now finally saw the way out of this situation.
While the young man was disoriented and was confused, the astrologer moved and ran past the young man.
This was the 'escape trick' of a Trickmaster!
As he ran past the man, he stretched out his arm and pointed his fingers near the man's shoulder.
'Electric shock!', Arcs of electricity flashed as they hit the man and electrocuted him.
Without looking back, he ran as fast as he could, finally feeling a hope of getting out of this predicament!
'Thwack!'
"Ugh—..." The astrologer fell down as his vision turned dark. In the last moment, he felt nothing but despair.
—
"How disappointing..." Jace muttered as he stood over the body of the astrologer.
He had gone really easy on the guy, but the result was still disappointing.
After getting hit with the 'freezing ray', Jace had substituted with a paper figurine.
The one to take the damages of 'flash', 'loud noise', and 'electric shock' was his figurine, while using his illusion power Jace hid in the fog created by the astrologer.
Jace wanted to see how a Beyonder from the door pathway would fight, it was dissapointing, but then again, this whole fight was rigged.
The astrologer's power of divination and anti-divination was rendered useless the moment Jace used the lucky stopwatch to find him. The power of door opening and wall phasing was useless here in the open area. The guy did his best with the tricks.
But he never stood a chance.
Jace sighed as he looked at the body that lay limp before him.
The astrologer was alive.
Jace had just smacked the guy's neck with a palm chop, knocking him out.
He didn't kill him, of course. Finding a Beyonder of the door pathway was a rare commodity these days, and unfortunately for him, Jace had some questions.
Jace turned off the Prometheus Ring. He bent down, picked up the astrologer, and slung him over his shoulder like a sack of grain.
Using the Polymath Ring, he used teleportation and faded from existence.
He was going to interrogate the hell out of this guy!
