Saint Mary's Shelter
Back at the orphanage, the kids shudder in fear as Lola demands that Bane gives back what he stole.
" All right, Bane, I'll give you another chance, where did you put that package?!" Lola shouts.
" I told you already, I don't know what happened to it. I didn't see anything. Also, who is this old man?" Bane asks, pointing at Jeanne.
" I'M A LADY," Jeanne barks back.
" This lady," Lola says "is whom the package belongs to, so if you have it, please give it back to her. I don't want to play anymore games with you!"
" Oh come on, why am I always the one getting blamed? If I had it, you would have already seen it. If you don't believe me, ask them." Bane says, pointing at the kids. Furious, Lola turns to look at the frightened kids and asks,
" All right, did any of you see Bane come in with something?"
However, the kids violently shakes their head. Sighing, she turns towards Jeanne and apologizes,
" I'm so sorry…. Bane is quite the handful,"
" It's…all right. Thank you, though." Jeanne responds as she walks outside.
" See?" Bane gleefully smiles at Lola, " I didn't do anything wrong, so can we have lunch now? I'm hungry."
" Oh shut up."
Sitting outside on the bench, Jeanne delivers the terrible news to Elizabeth.
" So what you saying, is that, he does not have it?" Elizabeth asks.
" Oh, no, he does have it."
" How do you know?"
" Call it a hunch, but there's no a way a thief like him could simply walk away from that thing. I mean if it was you, wouldn't you just go ahead and taken it?
" I…I guess, but-"
" Exactly. I know for a fact that brat is lying. Kids are terrible liars, but he's different and I think he probably trained himself to tell a lie under pressure."
" If that's the case, what do we do, Captain?"
" If we were on a different planet, I would have beaten that kid to a pulp and make him tell us where he hid the package or cause a ruckus in this town until someone gives it up, but I don't want to cause trouble since we are aware how much they hate pirates and we don't want to cause a big scene in case the AstralKnots get involved."
" Captain… we really need that part. Otherwise, how are we going to get off this planet?"
" Well…let's find a Carpenter and hope they are selling that part."
" That's going to be very hard. I heard that most of the spaceships here are owned by either the AstralKnots or nobles."
Shit, Jeanne thought as she ponders on what to do next.
