Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Misunderstandings and Confessions

"Little ones, today was so fun. I finally got to see that flashy guy get taken down a notch."

"The main course is here. This is Golden Silk Beef made from the Triangular Horned Ox that Captain Yami raised for years and couldn't bring himself to eat."

Charmy pushed open the dining room door as two sheep carried in trays.

The golden beef was drizzled with a simple black sauce, symbolizing the Black Bulls defeating the Golden Dawn.

"Asta, Cedric, Noelle, eat more. If it's not enough, I'll go to the basement and get more."

The beasts raised in the basement trembled.

They had been living like kings with three meals a day and a place to stay, but now that peaceful life was starting to crumble.

Humans really couldn't be trusted.

A large piece of golden beef paired with fresh Lolo Berry wine melted instantly in the mouth.

Drizzled with the black sauce, the layers of flavor burst together.

It was absolutely delicious.

"Ahhh, it's so good! And this drink, I don't even know what it is, but it's sweet and amazing."

After one sip of the berry wine, Asta's eyes went blank, and two flushed spots appeared on his cheeks.

The world went dark.

Asta collapsed face-first onto the table.

A true one-cup knockout.

The happy atmosphere didn't last long. In the end, only Vanessa, Yami Sukehiro, and Cedric were still drinking.

Facing two heavy drinkers, Cedric felt a bit helpless.

His Sage Body made it hard for him to get drunk, but the overwhelming alcohol still made him dizzy.

His vision blurred as his hand mechanically lifted the glass again and again.

Early the next morning, Cedric woke up struggling to breathe.

As he forced his eyes open, he realized he was lying in a bed.

Wait… this was his bed.

And Vanessa was right beside him.

Her clothes were barely there, her curves pressing dangerously close. The soft rise and fall of her chest made Cedric's throat tighten.

Vanessa slowly opened her hazy eyes and smiled lazily.

"Little brother Cedric, you're awake? Come on, let's drink some more."

She pulled out a thick bottle of wine from beneath the bed, wiped the mouth of the bottle, and lifted it to her lips.

The cloudy white liquid spilled slightly from the corners of her mouth, trailing down her neck in a dangerously tempting way.

She was clearly still drunk.

Cedric swallowed and carefully pulled his arm free.

"Yeah… you enjoy that. I'll head out first."

He gently covered her with the blanket and slipped out of the room.

"Are you going out to train today?"

Cedric froze.

That voice… Noelle.

He turned around stiffly.

"I went back early yesterday. You drank quite a lot," Noelle said, her tone calm.

She stepped closer and sniffed lightly.

There was a faint, unfamiliar scent on Cedric.

A woman's scent.

Before Cedric could explain, the door behind him burst open.

Vanessa leaned lazily against the frame.

"Noelle? What are you doing here?"

Before Cedric could react, Vanessa suddenly wrapped her arms around him.

Her soft body pressed firmly against him, her chest squishing shamelessly against his arm.

Cedric's body stiffened as he felt the warmth and softness. His hand instinctively hovered at her waist, unsure whether to push her away or… not.

Vanessa suddenly gagged.

She turned her head and threw up, then rubbed her aching forehead.

"Sorry, little brother Cedric. I couldn't help it."

"It's fine… I'll go change," Cedric said quickly.

Noelle was gone.

The moment Vanessa hugged Cedric, she had already run away.

Tears streamed down her face as she fled.

Her chest felt tight, painfully tight.

Cedric… why don't you like me? Why do you like that shameless witch instead?

She looked down at herself, her cheeks burning.

Is it because… I'm not big enough there?

Crying, Noelle mounted her broom and disappeared deep into the forest.

After changing, Cedric realized something was very wrong.

"Noelle wouldn't…"

He searched every corner of the base but couldn't find her.

Damn it.

She definitely misunderstood. And not just a little.

"I'm not interested in Vanessa like that… I just appreciate her."

"Tree Magic: Tree Clone"

Hundreds of clones appeared around Cedric, each infused with mana.

"Spread out and find Noelle. Now."

As evening fell and darkness swallowed the sky, Cedric was still searching.

Riding on his broom, he scanned the forest below.

According to his clones, someone had seen a silver-haired girl heading into the woods.

"Where are you, Noelle…"

Then—

He felt it.

Her mana.

By a quiet lake, Cedric finally found her.

Noelle had fallen asleep, curled up on the ground. Tear stains were still visible at the corners of her eyes.

Cedric's expression softened.

He gently lifted her into his arms. Her body was light, delicate… perfect.

Without realizing it, he lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss against her lips.

"Tree Magic: Three Bedrooms and Two Living Rooms"

A wooden house rose from the ground.

Cedric laid her gently on the bed and turned to leave but his arm was suddenly grabbed.

Even in her sleep, Noelle held onto him tightly.

Cedric sighed and sat beside her.

When Noelle woke up, she found herself lying in bed.

Cedric was right beside her, slumped over.

Her face instantly flushed.

Did he stay here the whole time…?

Her lips parted slightly as her thoughts wandered.

"Aren't you going to sleep a bit longer?" Cedric stretched, his body stiff.

Why did he feel more exhausted than when he trained?

"Cedric, I…"

Tears welled up in Noelle's eyes again.

Cedric gently wiped them away and pulled her into his arms.

"I understand."

He lifted her chin and kissed her deeply.

Noelle's body trembled as she clutched his clothes, completely overwhelmed.

After a long moment, she pushed him away slightly, gasping.

"Cedric, I don't care what happened between you and that bad witch. As long as you have me in your heart."

Cedric smiled and tapped her nose, "You silly girl, nothing happened between me and Vanessa. You misunderstood."

"Then… does that mean I…" Noelle buried her face in the blanket, too shy to continue.

Cedric's eyes lingered on her flushed cheeks and trembling body for a moment longer than necessary.

"You're mine," he said softly, his voice low and teasing. "And I don't plan on letting you run away again."

Noelle's entire body froze.

"I'll make you something to eat first. Rest."

Cedric left the room.

Noelle kicked the blanket away and gasped for air.

This is too fast… way too fast! Cedric and I… are we together now?

In the kitchen, Cedric rubbed his chin.

So… we're together now?

I should probably tell her about Rebecca later… she's definitely the jealous type.

"System, where's my Sharingan?"

[Ding! The host has not completed the mission. At best, you were just acting like a hooligan. You think a kiss makes you a couple? Without a proper confession, the system will not acknowledge it.]

Cedric clicked his tongue.

He returned with a bowl of porridge.

"Eat up, my princess."

Noelle took a bite.

It was simple, but to her, it tasted sweeter than anything.

"Noelle… do you regret it?"

Noelle hesitated for a second, then shook her head firmly.

Cedric took her soft hand.

A blue-silver ring appeared on her finger.

"This is the first time I've given a ring to a girl," Cedric said quietly. "I want to protect her… everything about her."

He looked straight into her eyes.

"Will you let me take care of you for the rest of your life, Princess Noelle?"

Noelle's mind went completely blank.

Her face turned bright red.

System overload.

She couldn't think at all.
