Chapter 69 - Chapter 69 – Testing Reality Overwrite

Five minutes later, the interior of the bar had become a scene so horrifying that most people would vomit the moment they saw it. Even Ethan Blake, who had already witnessed countless brutal battles, felt a faint wave of nausea rising in his stomach.

The problem wasn't the blood.

It was the method.

The World Over Heaven was simply too violent.

Just imagine it. A humanoid figure with arms harder than steel, empowered with thousands of tons of force, smashing directly into a human skull or crushing a ribcage with a single punch. The result wasn't merely death—it was total destruction.

The human body simply couldn't withstand that kind of power.

At this moment, there was only one living person left in the entire bar besides Ethan.

The man stood trembling in the corner, his face pale as chalk and his legs shaking uncontrollably. He had no idea what had happened over the past few minutes. All he knew was that after Ethan walked through the door, his companions had started dying one by one.

Some heads exploded.

Some chests collapsed inward.

People dropped around him like bursting balloons.

In his eyes, the man standing in front of him wasn't human.

He was a devil.

As Ethan slowly walked toward him, the man suddenly dropped to his knees.

"Don't kill me!" he cried, his voice trembling violently. "If you want money, information, anything—I can give it to you. Just spare my life!"

He only wanted one thing.

To survive.

He had no desire to die like the corpses scattered across the floor.

Ethan looked down at him calmly.

"I just need you to cooperate with a small experiment," he said.

The man nodded frantically.

"I'll do it! Whatever experiment you want, I'll do it!"

His desperation was obvious.

"Your words, not mine," Ethan replied.

The moment the sentence ended, The World Over Heaven swung its fist.

The man's head exploded instantly.

Ethan looked down at the corpse thoughtfully.

"The stand just killed seventy-five people," he murmured to himself. "That means I should have about two units of overwrite energy stored right now."

He nodded slightly.

"Let's test it."

When Ethan made a decision, he never wasted time.

He stretched his hands forward.

Beside him, The World Over Heaven mirrored the movement perfectly. The stand placed its hands directly on top of Ethan's, and together they lowered their palms onto the corpse lying in front of them.

Ethan focused.

"Reality Overwrite… activate."

The ability surged to life.

He overwrote the corpse's reality.

The truth of "death" was replaced with the truth of "survival."

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then something shocking occurred.

The shattered skull began to reconstruct itself.

Flesh regenerated. Bone reformed. Blood reversed its flow as if time itself were running backward. Within seconds, the man's head was completely restored.

The corpse suddenly gasped and sat up.

He looked around in confusion, clearly disoriented. For a moment he couldn't understand why he was lying on the floor surrounded by bodies.

Then his eyes landed on Ethan.

Fear immediately flooded his expression.

He jumped to his feet.

"I meant what I said!" he blurted out quickly. "I'll cooperate with whatever experiment you want!"

His memory still ended at the moment right before his death.

Ethan smiled faintly.

"It's finished."

The experiment was complete.

The man froze.

Finished?

He didn't remember doing anything at all.

But he didn't dare question it.

"Then… can I go now?" he asked carefully.

If the experiment was over, maybe he could finally escape this nightmare.

Ethan simply smiled without answering.

Instead, The World Over Heaven answered for him.

The stand's fist smashed forward.

The man's head exploded again.

"Sorry," Ethan said with a casual shrug. "Even if you don't understand anything, the experiment still needs to stay secret."

With that, he activated his teleportation and vanished from the bar.

Cleaning up the aftermath was Wilson Fisk's problem now.

Back at the hotel, Ethan dropped onto the sofa and began analyzing the results of the test.

Overwriting the reality of a normal person's death had consumed exactly one unit of overwrite energy. Based on his calculations, that meant thirty-six sinful souls were required to produce a single unit.

But Ethan was certain of one thing.

If the target had been someone stronger—like Captain America—the cost would definitely have been much higher.

Still, a heavy burden in Ethan's heart finally lifted.

For a long time, there had been one event he couldn't ignore.

Thanos' snap.

Even though Ethan possessed a stand capable of protecting him, the Infinity Gauntlet's power was too unpredictable. He couldn't guarantee what would happen when half the universe vanished.

And there were people he cared about.

In the original timeline, Wanda had died after the snap. Pietro's survival chances would also have been extremely low.

But now things were different.

With Reality Overwrite, Ethan didn't have to fear that outcome anymore.

Even if Wanda and Pietro somehow died during the coming years—whether because Ethan failed to summon something strong enough or because Thanos' power overwhelmed them—he could simply overwrite their reality.

He could erase their deaths.

Of course, because they were powerful ability users, the energy required would probably be enormous.

But Ethan didn't care.

The Earth had no shortage of evil people.

There were always more criminals to eliminate.

Of course, the best outcome would still be killing Thanos directly.

Ethan leaned back and continued thinking about the potential of Reality Overwrite.

The ability clearly didn't stop at resurrecting the dead.

As long as he possessed enough overwrite energy, he could theoretically overwrite any reality.

For example, he could overwrite his own reality with the truth of "immortality."

But the energy cost for something like that would likely be astronomical.

And honestly, there was a much better use for sinful souls.

Summoning energy.

The summoning system inside his mind was the true foundation of his strength in the chaotic Marvel universe. Without it, he would lose his greatest advantage.

Ethan sighed with satisfaction.

Tonight had been an incredible harvest.

He finally pushed those thoughts aside and went to sleep.

The next morning, he was shaken awake.

When Ethan opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Wanda standing beside the bed, holding Yuumi in her arms.

He had released Yuumi's possession before going to sleep the previous night.

"Ethan, this little cat slept next to you all night," Wanda said happily. "She's so cute."

Her eyes never left Yuumi.

"It's called Yuumi," Ethan said, introducing the magical cat.

Wanda blinked in surprise.

"You know it?"

"Of course," Ethan replied casually. "She's a magical cat I formed a contract with last night."

"Contract?" Wanda tilted her head curiously. "Is that another one of your abilities?"

Ethan shrugged.

"Something like that. You know how it is with me. A new ability pops up every now and then."

He never lied to Wanda, but she rarely asked detailed questions about his powers. Since she didn't press the issue, Ethan never volunteered unnecessary explanations.

From Wanda's perspective, Ethan himself mattered far more than his abilities.

And right now, Yuumi had clearly stolen all of her attention.

"That's amazing," Wanda said happily. "That means I can see Yuumi every day now. Yuumi, my name is Wanda."

"Meow~"

Yuumi responded immediately.

Wanda's eyes widened with delight.

"She understood me!"

Ethan laughed.

"Of course she did. I told you she's a magical cat."

Wanda began chatting happily with Yuumi, completely absorbed.

Watching the two of them interact, Ethan couldn't help smiling.

For a moment, he felt that Wanda looked even cuter than Yuumi.

After spending four or five relaxing days in Hawaii, Ethan and the others finally returned to New York.

The moment Ethan got home and sat down, he hadn't even had time to warm the seat before someone knocked on the door.

Nick Fury stood outside.

The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. was wearing his usual black trench coat.
