Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: I'm Always Here

Several days had passed since the attack on Ray. Although it wasn't usually allowed, seeing Lily's condition and after Amy's persuasion, the girl was permitted to stay by Ray's side. This led to her moving into his room.

Now the girl was lying on Ray's bed, whispering something in his ear.

Rosie tried with all her might to keep dark thoughts away, but she was very worried about how to tell Violet. The girl couldn't be stressed right now, so they decided together to keep it a secret as long as possible.

Days went by. During this time, Lily, with the help of the nurses, learned how to care for Ray's body and took it upon herself completely.

Now Lily was washing Ray's body and quietly whispering something. She did it very gently — to an outsider, it might even seem excessive.

Seeing Lily's suffering, Amy tried not to show her own weakness. She allowed herself to do so only in moments of solitude. Now she was home alone, looking through childhood photos of her son, tormented by the thought that he might die. For many years she thought she was prepared for this, but only now realized: she couldn't survive his death.

A feeling of helplessness and the thought that all she could do was wait gripped the woman's soul. A mixture of anger and hatred boiled in her heart. And then, at some point, unable to cope, she began breaking the dishes in the house. When she realized nothing was left, she fell to her knees and sobbed.

The last thing Lily remembered was snuggling into her beloved's arms on the hospital bed. But now she found herself on the balcony of a two-story house.

Ray stood next to her, smiling tenderly. Seeing him, Lily threw herself into his arms and sobbed. Ray held her gently, softly stroking her head.

When the girl calmed down, she gently pulled back and asked:

"What is this place?"

"It's the house where I wanted to raise our child," he replied.

"So you don't want that anymore?" the girl asked worriedly, struggling to hold back tears.

"I still love you, but now I clearly see that this relationship is too heavy a burden for you. I'm not even dead yet, and you're already broken. I don't want to see what you'll become if I die. You said you'd be my support, but now I see — you can't do that."

Having finished speaking, Ray kissed the girl on the forehead. Then his figure began to slowly disappear.

Seeing her beloved's figure dissolve frightened Lily terribly, making her scream.

Sitting up in bed with a scream, Lily found tears streaming down her face.

This strange dream reminded her of how she had promised Ray to be a support for his mother.

But in recent days, the opposite had been true — Amy had been her support. She had even made her eat.

A flood of thoughts rushed through Lily's mind, making her realize how pathetic she was.

Quickly pulling herself together, she left the room for the first time in days, asking a nurse to watch over Ray. The girl headed to Amy's house.

Only now did she understand that she wasn't the only one hurting and scared. Arriving at the house and seeing the door open, the girl tensed — her heart filled with anxiety. Running inside, she saw Amy sitting on her knees, crying. All around her were broken glass and many small cuts on her body.
