Magnus woke up in a dark place, devoid of any form of light. It was so dark, that he could not even see his own body.
He got up, now standing up on his feet. There was something wrong here. No, it was not the fact Magnus could not see anything. But rather, he felt energetic. Just like he had first fallen into this world.
"Ughh.. my body feels so wrong. I can move my fingers but it feels like I am not controlling them. They feel numb..."
Magnus took a deep breath. This wasn't the first time he had fell in some strange dark place.
"Last time was when I met that power bestower. Maybe, I will meet him again? If so, I should probably ask what Myst has been avoiding for such a long time."
Though Magnus initially thought that, the unnerving silence was too long for a reunion.
"Hey! Power bestower! Where are you?" Magnus shouted.
There was no echo of his voice. Just silence followed after.
Magnus did not like this. He was not the kind of person to be ignored. Now, growing impatient of being alone. He once again shouted the same thing.
"Hello!? Anyone there??"
No answer.
Magnus did not like this. He certainly did not.
He once again took a deep breath, readying himself for another shout.
Thud.
Thud.
The sounds of footsteps made a rhythmic sound in the void. Magnus turned to the sound, yet he couldn't see anyone. Of course he couldn't, there was no light after all.
Before Magnus spoke, a dim light shone right above him. It was to the point he could see just a metre ahead of him, but that was enough. Enough for him to see the culprit who had brought him here.
Magnus walked a bit closer, trying to get a better look of the person's face. Yet, it seemed like it was covered, not by any cloth or object, but by the darkness itself.
Magnus gave up halfway, as much as his body had gotten energetic, his mind had simply adapted to the sluggish lifestyle of the sloth.
He thought himself "For communication, words are better than actions."
But once again, before he could speak, the person in front had already begun his say.
"Long time no see, Magnus." The voice of a calm young man reached for Magnus' ear. A smooth, melodic yet dipped in the sea of cruel fate.
"Seriously, there was no reason for you to appear like that. No, actually, this is better than last time. I feel like we can actually talk in pers-"
"Silence."
The man spoke once again, his voice filled with authority, and disappointment.
"What? What's up with the-"
"Ethan. Would you mind letting me speak? When did you get so talkative." He said, before giving a moment of silence for Magnus.
He spoke again. "I heard you have had a lot of questions, no?
I won't be answering them"
"The hell? What bullsh-" Magnus, now growing furious of the sudden disrespect, moved forward.
"I will just tell you one simple thing. Don't. question.
the Deity."
This had hit the nerve. First the late arrival, then the rude talk, and now, orders?
"What are you on about? Why the hell should I listen to you?"
"…."
…
…
..
..
.
"Why? That's because the Deity has said so. We all follow the Deity, and so should you."
"Hell NO!" Magnus yelled, all this talk was bringing up more and more information onto Magnus. He was annoyed, more so by the fact that he actually had the energy to be annoyed.
The man took a moment, just a small moment of time.
He spoke once again. "You should know, if the Deity has the authority to give you power, he also has the same to take it away. Do not overstep your boundary, [ ]"
Magnus froze. The man had said something unbelievable. No—it should have been unbelievable, but it was not.
Magnus immediately rushed towards him, but just as he's hand reached just an inch away. It hit something.
"Wha—?!!" Magnus gasped, his hand rebouncing back from an invisible wall.
The figure chuckled, finding his aggressive behavior a bit amusing.
"What? Are you perhaps furious? Maybe the Deity was wrong about you."
Magnus punched the invisible wall, but his hand simply stopped at it, not moving even an inch.
"You Bastard!!" Magnus shouted.
Just as he kept on with his mindless aggression, the dim light started to glow brighter and brighter, to the point where Magnus could now see the man's face.
His hand stopped mid punch. The face was one he could easily recognize. The same eyes, the same nose, mouth, ears, hair, and even his height.
That was…. Ethan. That man, was him..
"Y-You! HOW!?? Who the HELL are you?"
Ethann simply chuckled, this [scenario] was far too interesting for him not to be joyful.
With a smirk on his face, he added to his previous remark. "You know, I was surprised when the Deity chose me for this. I can't believe I get to me-"
"Shut up" Magnus' voice thundered down. A calm, low toned yet momentary enough to halt Ethann.
He clenched his fist. Not in anger, but something else that was boiling inside of him from the moment he had fell into this world. "This" world.
"You are not Ethan. No, actually. You are not me. You are just a copy, a wanna-be me."
He looked up to him with a blank face, "don't go fooling around yourself. You knockoff"
Ethann laughed. He laughed. A rhythmic shout of joy erupted from his mouth, almost swelling up tears.
"Me, fooling around?"
"I am not the one who changed his name though?
You are the one fooling around,
Haka-"
Thump!
Magnus' fist shot at the invisible wall once again.
"You have crossed the line, copy."
