A few minutes have gone by and the students found seats for them to use. There were many students in the arena for this fight. They were not just there because there was a fight going on, but because a leviathan was one of the fighters. Leviathans are strong aquatic creatures and everyone wanted to see what a leviathan was capable of.
The headmistress held the microphone once more and made an announcement. "Everyone the fight is about to commence. Take your seats."
After a few moments, silence stretched in the arena. "This duel has been arranged for the attention of a single individual amongst the staff of the academy. Naturally, the victor of this duel will receive the honor of fulfilling their desire of having this hidden gem." Everyone in the crowd started to murmur amongst one another.
"Who do you think is the staff member involved?" One asked the guy next to him.
"It could be anyone," the boy responded. "If it were me though, I wouldn't mind if it were professors Mathilda or Invidia. Both are stunning beauties that make any man's heart race out of their chest."
"Your too right man. I wouldn't mind it either. Even if either of them were to toy with me like a puppy, I would do whatever they said."
"Absolutely."
"Let us begin announcing the two fighters that will grace us will a delightful show today," the headmistress continued. "On the challengers side, we have the being that lurks within the depth of the seas. His strength is without equal and his mastery over water is unrivaled. He is Anthony the Leviathan!"
Anthony walked into the arena. He smiled at the crowd but it didn't reach his eyes. He wore black shorts and his muscular upper body was bare.
Loud roars could be heard from the stands and many of the girls were swooning at the sight of his naked upper body. The cheering students began quieting down once more as the headmistress continued.
"In the defenders side, a boy who is a mystery to the academy. No one knows his contracted beast, but his power shouldn't be underestimated. Now introducing to the arena Jason!"
The massive door opened and Jason walked out. The cheering started to die down. There were some that liked the mysterious beast, but many others thought that a leviathan would be extremely hard to beat. Even if this mysterious beast was a highly rare creature, rare doesn't mean strong. So the crowd was quickly decided between the two fighters. Many thought the leviathan was going to win, but some hoped this mysterious beast would pull a crazy win. Bets were already being placed between friends, rivals and strangers. The school even added an extra feature for the event. As long as someone had the money, they could make a bet through the school and the money would be devided amongst the winners and the school would take a small portion as tax.
Many students did it this way, but some didnt like the school taking a portion of their cut. So some got together and placed their own bets in a small crowd.
Needless to say, the atmosphere was extremely lively for a duel of this caliber.
Both fighters walked to the center of the arena, standing five meters apart from one another. Anthony was naked from the waiste up, showing off his muscular physique. He had blue shorts that barely reached his knees. Anthony sneered at Jason with his arms crossed over his chest.
Jason on the other hand, was wearing the tardigrades shell that took the form of reptile scales that hung to his body. His blonde curly hair was swaying in the light breeze. Jason looked at Anthony with a determined expression.
'Let's go over the information one last time.' Jason thought. 'Leviathans are incredibly tough and difficult to fight against. Their hide is thick and they pack an incredible punch. Their strength is at their peak when they are in the water. The worst part is, they have a void liek domain inside their stomach which makes this extremely annoying to deal with. There is no way of knowing what is inside of him.'
'The good news is that there is a limit on how much can be stored inside this dimension and that limit corresponds to how old the leviathan is. Lucky for me, Anthony is in the adolescent phase. The storage space should be around five cubic meters. It's quite a bit of space and that could be a problem. Yet it's not what it could have been had he focused on getting stronger.'
'If he did manage to make it to maturity, the space would have been doubled and then I would be in serious danger. Yet it seems he grew arrogant in bonding with a leviathan. So he remained in the adolescent phase. The not major problem is that i am currently relying on my physical strength powered by mana against a beast with a three inch thick hide. It won't be easy for me to break through that level of defense as I am now.'
'The only option currently would be to gradually weaken him down over time and allow my resurrection to keep me fighting in the best shape possible. It would be a battle of endurance and in such a fight where mythical beasts of this caliber clashed without holding back in a battle of attrition, there is none better than the phoenix who cannot stay dead.' Jason narrowed his eyes. 'Though I still wonder why Invidia wanted us to fight to begin with. Perhaps she wanted us to resolve the tension building up between us. Or maybe she had a much deeper meaning for igniting this conflict. Either way, I'm going to get answers after this.'
Jason had these thoughts in a few moments just before the fight began. Both boys had their own reasons for wanting to come out on top.
The crowd began to cheer loudly as the fight was about to begin. A feminine voice manage to say something over the crowd, "You better win Jason!" These words were announced just before the announcer started the fight.
"Let the match begin!"
