Nobody spoke during the drive.
Not me.
Not Yuri.
Not David.
Not even Ci-n.
And Ci-n being quiet?

Keagan sat in the front seat.
His phone in his hand.
Checking it every few seconds.
I hated it.
Because every time he checked it...
His expression got worse.
Which meant something was definitely wrong.
After nearly twenty minutes, the car finally stopped.
I looked outside.
And frowned.
This wasn't a hospital.
This wasn't a company building either.
It was one of the Watson family's private event halls.
A massive place near the city center.
"...Why are we here?"
Keagan sighed.
"Because this is where he was supposed to be."
That didn't make me feel better.
At all.
We quickly got out.
The guards recognized Keagan immediately and opened the gates.
Inside, employees were rushing around.
Phones ringing.
People whispering.
The entire atmosphere felt wrong.
Then I spotted him.
Mr. Kaizer Watson.
Keifer's father.
And even from a distance...
He looked furious.
Not loud furious.
The scary kind.
The kind that made grown adults nervous.

"Dad."
Mr. Watson immediately looked up.
"Did you find him?"
Keagan shook his head.
My stomach dropped.
Find him?
What did he mean find him?
Then Mr. Watson noticed us.
Especially me.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"Who are they?"
"Friends."
Keagan answered.
Mr. Watson looked like he wanted to say more.
But didn't.
Instead he sighed.
A very tired sigh.
"He's gone."

"Gone where?"
Yuri asked.
Nobody answered.
Then Keagan finally spoke.
"He walked out this morning."
I blinked.
"What?"
" He had an argument with Dad."
Everyone froze.
Even Mr. Watson.
Because apparently Keagan wasn't supposed to say that.

"Enough."
But the damage was already done.
Now everyone knew.
Something had happened between Keifer and his father.
Something serious.
And suddenly I remembered something.
Keifer changing the subject whenever family came up.
Keifer never inviting friends over.
Keifer looking uncomfortable whenever people mentioned home.
The pieces started fitting together.
And I didn't like the picture they formed.
Not one bit.
Then my phone vibrated.
Everyone jumped.
Including me.

I looked down.
One new message.
From:
Keifer.
My heart nearly stopped.
I opened it immediately.
The message was short.
Very short.
Don't tell anybody where I am.
I stared at the screen.
And froze.

Because attached underneath...
Was a photo.
And I instantly recognized the place.
Kingsground.
The same place where trouble always seemed to find people.
And suddenly...
I knew exactly where Keifer was.
