Two senior doctors walked down the quiet hospital hallway. They spoke in low, hushed voices, discussing the strange events of the night.
"Did you hear the rumors from the operating room?" the first doctor asked, adjusting his glasses.
"About the intern?" the second doctor replied, frowning. "Word travels fast. They say he brought back a baby that was already pronounced dead."
The first doctor nodded grimly. "It is a very strange case. I caught a glimpse of the boy in the nursery earlier."
"And? How is he?"
The first doctor smiled, but his eyes remained serious. "He is healthy and beautiful. But... he is definitely different."
"Different how?"
"He has hair as white as snow," the doctor said. "For a newborn baby of his family's background, it is completely unheard of."
The second doctor stopped walking. His frown deepened. "White hair? That is more than just a strange trait. Maybe it is albinism?"
"Maybe. But I feel like a normal checkup won't explain what he is."
The two doctors walked away toward their offices. Neither of them noticed the pair of eyes watching them from behind the nursery glass. Inside his crib, the baby lay perfectly still. His golden eyes tracked their shadows until they disappeared.
A few minutes later, the nursery door slid open with a soft hiss. A young nurse walked inside. She was only twenty and looked exhausted from her long shift. Her eyes immediately locked onto the crib in the center of the room.
"So, you're the little miracle," she whispered in awe.
She leaned over the crib. The baby looked incredibly peaceful. His pale face was framed by silky white hair. He looked like a character from a fantasy story. Moved by curiosity, she reached out to touch his tiny hand.
The moment her skin brushed his, the baby's hand shot up.
His tiny fingers clamped around her index finger. He squeezed with a strength that made her gasp.
"Oh! Well, hello there," she laughed softly, her surprise turning into a smile. "You have a grip like a titan, don't you? Or maybe I am just too tired."
She gently scooped the baby into her arms. "Come on, little one. Let's get you to the lab. The doctors want to run some tests."
As she walked down the quiet hallway, she stared down at the baby. "Your eyes are truly beautiful," she murmured. "Golden... I have never seen anything like this."
"Is that him?"
Another nurse stepped out from a side station, her face full of curiosity. "The baby who came back from the dead?"
The young nurse nodded, holding him a bit closer. "Yes, this is him."
The second nurse leaned in, her eyes widening. "He is gorgeous! Look at that white hair. Once his vitals are clear, I'm definitely coming back to steal some cuddles."
The baby did not react at all. He simply watched them with a calm, neutral expression. His golden eyes glowed like two steady, burning embers.
Suddenly, the world went completely black.
Click.
The hospital's constant hum died instantly. The hallway was plunged into pitch-black, suffocating darkness.
"Wait—a power outage?" one of the nurses gasped, her voice tightening with fear.
In that second of absolute darkness, something impossible happened.
The baby's eyes did not just reflect light. They created it. A soft, magical golden glow pulsed from his pupils. It cast a warm light over the young nurse's shocked face. The light was steady, ancient, and blindingly bright in the dark corridor.
"Did you... did you see that?" the second nurse stammered, her voice shaking.
Click.
The backup generators roared to life. The fluorescent lights flickered violently and flooded the hallway with harsh light.
Everything returned to normal.
The baby's eyes were closed now. He looked like a perfectly normal, sleeping infant. His breathing was soft, and his face looked completely innocent.
The two nurses stood frozen, staring at each other in total silence.
"Did you see his eyes?" the first nurse whispered, her heart pounding in her chest.
The other nurse shook her head quickly, though her hands were trembling. "It... it must have been the emergency lights. A trick of the darkness."
They hurried down the hall, walking much faster now. The nurse held the child tightly against her chest.
In her arms, the baby remained perfectly still. The ancient soul was silent, waiting for the day this world would finally be ready for his power.
