"Oh…" I trailed off, my gaze drifting out toward the dark waves.
I kind of hadn't talked to her in so long. I couldn't even remember what her voice sounded like anymore. She called from time to time, and I just never answered. I wasn't sure what to say."
It was a mixture of guilt and shame, but honestly, it was all the emotions at once. She hadn't actually offended me, but I had villainized her for choosing to leave. She left… and part of me believed she hadn't thought about me since.
"She asked me to relay her greetings, Louis." Claire finally said. "I think it's about time you both sit and talk. From what I saw, she never stopped thinking about you."
Maybe I would.

We continued our walk along the shore hand in hand, the breeze soft off the water.
"All I'm saying is, maybe give her a chance to explain," she continued gently. "Life is too short, Louis. Don't spend all this time being at odds with her."
