Louis' POV
After a few more apologies and several lingering, worried glances, she finally left. I watched her climb into Jake's car before they drove away.
The second they disappeared from view, my facade cracked. The smile slipped from my face.
The lump I'd been forcing down all evening rose back into my throat, and suddenly, I wanted nothing more than to cry.
I wrapped my arms around myself and stared down the street. The night air was quickly settling and my emotions were starting to leak.
Where are you, Louis?

I had been waiting outside the restaurant for what felt like six long minutes when Louis's car finally appeared.
The moment I saw his car come closer into view— a sleek white SUV, the smile on my face was immediate. I immediately felt my tense shoulders loosen up and the messy knot of nerves in my stomach loosened also.
