In the break room, Meredith Rowan didn't beat around the bush. "Shirley, are you really planning on showing Mr. Lowell's work to Ian Hollis?"
Shirley Thorne nodded, her eyes resolute. "I'm sure Mr. Lowell will win Ian Hollis's approval. Once Ian approves it, I'll give it to Ethan. If he dislikes Mr. Lowell's work even after that, then..."
She left the rest unsaid, but her meaning was perfectly clear.
If Ethan Grant were to nitpick a painting that even Ian Hollis had approved, it would prove he didn't dislike the art, but Shirley Thorne herself. Did the rest really need to be spelled out?
Nothing more needed to be said.
"Shirley, let's not be so hasty."
Meredith Rowan took her hand. "I still have faith in Ethan. He's very professional; he would never disparage your work just because he dislikes you."
"Really?"
Shirley Thorne's wide eyes shone with anticipation.
'Of course, that was a lie!'
Meredith Rowan answered inwardly.
But she couldn't say that out loud.
