Out in the hallway, Mark gave Kevin one last warning look before he and Charles walked back to their own room, locking the door behind them.
Left entirely alone with the stone-faced bodyguards, Kevin stood frozen in the corridor. Adrian's sharp, threatening words echoed heavily in his ears, sending a chill down his spine that had nothing to do with the gunfire downstairs. Realizing just how badly he had messed up, he finally turned around and quietly retreated to his own room.
Meanwhile, inside their bedroom, Mark and Charles settled back onto the mattress, the adrenaline from the midnight chaos still humming through their veins.
Mark leaned back against the headboard and shook his head. "Your friend is something else," he murmured. "Fearless, stubborn, and completely impossible to intimidate."
