"Don't listen to Jimmy's nonsense. I just went there to offer a suggestion. The reason for such a good outcome is due to Clement's kindness. You don't know, he even gave me a bottle of good wine." Jason was a bit drunk at this point, but being an honest and simple man, he still didn't like to brag in front of others. He just kept praising Clement.
"I know, I know!" Jimmy jumped up, shouting, "The next day, Captain Jason shared that bottle of brandy with us. It was truly a good wine; the taste was simply exquisite."
However, perhaps because Jimmy's voice was too loud, it attracted a group of uninvited guests.
"You few, don't you know it's already curfew? Why are you chatting in the street instead of hurrying back to your dorms?" Two patrol team members, who had just finished their shift and were passing by, immediately put on airs and reprimanded Jimmy and his group.
"Why are you yelling? Can't you see we're heading back to the dorms? What's the rush?" Jimmy, annoyed at being interrupted, glared at the two patrol team members. The conflict between their maintenance team and the patrol team had not been a recent affair, so Jimmy naturally assumed these two were looking for trouble, and thus he didn't give them a good look.
"The park explicitly states that no one is allowed to be outside their dorms after 9 PM. The time has already passed. You've clearly violated the rules, yet you dare to talk back? Do you think we patrol team members are all good-tempered and won't enforce the regulations on you?" A patrol team wizard sneered, then placed his hand on the wand at his waist, preparing to cast a spell.
"You... if you have the guts, cast a spell on me now! You patrol team good-for-nothings, what else do you do besides loaf around all day? Your wand isn't used to protect us, but instead to lord it over us. You've brought shame to the entire park." Jimmy was clearly drunk that night. He shouted excitedly at the two patrol team members. His voice was so loud that it even attracted the attention of wizards in the surrounding dorm buildings, who all peered out their windows to watch the scene on the street.
"You little bastard, how dare you speak to us like that." The two patrol team wizards, hearing Jimmy scolding them, immediately became enraged, drew their wands, pointed them at Jimmy, and prepared to cast spells.
Jason, realizing the situation was dire, quickly stepped forward to stop Jimmy, while sternly telling the two patrol team members, "Jimmy is just drunk and talking nonsense. Don't push your luck. If this matter really escalates to Clement, none of us will have a good outcome!"
The two patrol team members glared menacingly at Jimmy, but Jason's words clearly made them hesitant. Clement always valued stability within the park. If they truly cast spells on their own people, they might indeed be punished.
Jason remained quite calm and composed at this moment. Seeing that the two in front of him were showing signs of hesitation, he immediately added, "We are already on our way back to the dorms. If you truly care about the park's regulations, then don't block our way here. Otherwise, your supervisor will blame you." With that, Jason pulled Jimmy and the others away from the scene. Jimmy, still muddled, wanted to curse a few more times, but Jason immediately covered his mouth.
The two patrol team members, startled by Jason, didn't dare to act rashly and could only glare fiercely at Jimmy. Clearly, they had noted down this disrespectful brat. Only the wizards watching from the dorms by the street were somewhat disappointed. They had to work for a long time in this enclosed park, which was already very depressing. They finally found some entertainment, but the two groups downstairs argued for a long time without actually fighting.
And after Jason pulled Jimmy away, the younger man still grumbled resentfully, "Why didn't you let me keep cursing them? The patrol team is just a bunch of good-for-nothings anyway."
"Enough. No matter how pathetic they seem in our eyes, you can't say it directly. You should know that Clement values the patrol team very much. Getting on their bad side won't end well for us," Jason earnestly advised the young man in front of him.
"Pah, don't think I don't know. Matthew told me that these people are all members of the West German Endeavor Society outside. It's said they even have connections with the Berlin black market. They must have gotten in through connections," Jimmy, his face flushed from drink, continued to complain with an indignant expression.
"Shh, stop talking nonsense. It'll be trouble if someone hears you." Jason, seeing Jimmy still rambling, immediately worried that he might say something bad to others after returning to his dorm. After thinking for a moment, he pulled Jimmy back to his own residence. He planned to let Jimmy sleep in his room for the night to prevent him from causing more trouble, knowing that a patrol team member named Matthew also lived in Jimmy's dorm.
After Jason settled Jimmy, he also felt exhausted. Such a heavy workload every day was no joke. But his own bed had already been given to Jimmy, and he didn't want to sleep in the same bed as another man. After some thought, Jason decided to make do on the sofa in the living room downstairs for the night, so that neither of them would get a bad rest.
And when Jason lay down on the living room sofa, he couldn't help but recall the topic Jimmy had brought up earlier. In fact, they had long been dissatisfied with the patrol team, but Jimmy was one of the few who dared to say it to their faces. Thinking of this, Jason's mind again pondered what Jimmy had mentioned before falling asleep: Were those patrol team members connected to the black market outside? Did that mean these guys weren't good people to begin with? But why would wizards with potential criminal records be recruited into the park? Could it be that Clement was deceived? Or perhaps... Jason suddenly awoke from his drowsiness at this thought and shook his head vigorously.
*Impossible, Clement is such a good person, how could he be involved with these criminals? There must be another hidden reason.* Jason didn't know if he was comforting himself or if he was afraid of the conclusion he had drawn, constantly telling himself this internally.
However, after muttering for a long time, Jason felt something was wrong. Why had the living room suddenly become much brighter, as if the front door on the first floor had been opened? Thinking of this, Jason raised his head and looked curiously down the corridor leading to the door. Then, he was surprised to see two wizards wearing masks and long robes appear before him.
Jason was startled and was about to scream. But at this moment, the two wizards opposite reacted even faster. The wizard in front, upon spotting him, immediately extended his left hand, as if casting some magic. Then Jason found himself mute, unable to make a sound despite opening his mouth.
Next, Jason felt a pain in his body. It turned out that after the wizard cast a spell with his left hand, he quickly shot a fast and urgent Stupefy from the pure white wand in his hand, hitting Jason directly in the chest and instantly knocking him unconscious.
"That was close! I didn't expect Golden Knight's drills to actually come in handy. Someone is sleeping in the living room instead of staying in their room late at night." A masked Auror was clearly startled by Jason's sudden appearance and couldn't help but pat his chest.
"Stop talking nonsense. Let's move quickly. If we're slower than others, we'll be laughed at forever. And you were scared when you cast that spell, weren't you? Your Stupefy was clearly a beat slow. Since that's the case, I'll clear the way, and you cover me." The other Auror first reprimanded his companion, then suggested with a hint of disdain.
"Who's scared? I was just a little nervous facing a real person. It's not my first battle, what's the big deal?" The wizard in the front grumbled, somewhat displeased.
"Both of you, stop talking nonsense! Although the masks conceal your voices so outsiders can't hear you, the communication headset channels are interconnected. Is it fun to chat in front of everyone? I told you, don't speak unless it's an emergency! Hurry up and complete the mission!" Just as the two were still arguing, Alan's voice came through their communication headsets.
And upon hearing Alan's reprimand, the two realized that they were all on the same channel now. So that meant their conversation just now was heard by all forty other people?
Sure enough, just as the two were embarrassed by their social blunder, other voices came through the headset: "Report, Golden Knight, Team 3 has completed clearing all floors. All personnel inside are under control. Over."
"Received. Team 3, please transfer the controlled personnel to the first-floor hall and await further orders. Over!" Alan quickly responded through the headset.
Hearing these two exchanges, the two Aurors exchanged a look of exasperation. They really wanted to complain to each other, but if they spoke again, others would definitely hear them. And while they were still awkward, several more mission completion reports came through the headset, which immediately made the two anxious. Damn it, why were the other teams so fast? If they really were the last to complete the mission, as they had said earlier, it wouldn't just be a social death.
So, the two no longer had time to mess around and quickly got to work. Fortunately, the subsequent actions went very smoothly, and there were no more instances of people wandering outside their rooms. However, tragically, despite their best efforts, these two were still the last team to complete the control mission. But this also meant that the entire internal park had been completely occupied by them.
