Chapter 38 - All missed.
Kai stared back at Elder Huan. Kai looked calm and normal, but inwardly he was screaming.
"How the hell did I not notice him? Is he that much stronger than I am?!"
Elder Huan stood up silently and spoke.
"What really are you, Kai? From the time of the sleeping gas on the bus to this moment, something is off. You're not like the other students. Either way, your punishment is over. However, you will be questioned in a week's time."
Kai stared at him.
"So? I'm free to go?"
Elder Huan nodded as he passed Kai and left the room.
Kai sighed as he left, not knowing what was going on. He followed Elder Huan and found himself in an open area, a large circular platform. Suddenly, runes appeared on the ground and flashed with a strong amount of light.
Kai stared at them, trying to understand them.
Though he didn't know what he was really looking at, after a few seconds something happened as a system popup appeared in front of him.
[You have discovered runic sorcery in its most basic form.]
[Runic sorcery understanding 2.5% -> 4%]
[You have discovered magical affinities.]
A split second after the last popup, Kai saw white light blindingly emanating from the runes, and he felt like something was happening. A second later, he was standing in front of his room, even his clothes changed back into the uniform.
Kai stared at the door before placing his hand on the handle, which instantly scanned his mana and fingerprint before unlocking.
Kai entered the room.
It was empty.
Kai silently jumped onto the bed and slept.
When he woke up, he saw a bag next to his head. Within it was a mountain of notes and a simple message.
"You can borrow my notes. - Nova."
Kai sighed and opened one of the books, but just then something happened as a popup appeared in front of him.
[Due to your higher intelligence stat, you can simply absorb the knowledge from the book.]
But before Kai could answer the system, he heard his stomach growl.
Kai's face slightly flushed, and he jumped down from the bunk bed, walking out of the room. Kai looked at his card, realizing today he had no classes to go to anyway, and walked toward the second dome for the cafeteria, which was not as empty as he thought it would be.
As Kai entered, the people talking got way quieter as people began murmuring.
"Isn't that the killer?"
"He's a monster."
"He's the one who killed a second year!"
Kai desperately tried to ignore their murmurings.
He glanced at his student card, the same thing that started all of this, and saw around 5k points. He bought food, ate quickly, and ran back to his room, annoyed by the people talking about him.
Kai reached the room and began reading the notes Nova left him.
Hours passed silently.
He had quickly realized maybe he shouldn't have decided to fight because the amount of things he had missed was simply insane. Kai simply didn't expect the classes to be in such detail.
Such as beast cores.
He didn't really know what they were, but the notes explained them.
The same way humans have bloodline cores, beasts have beast cores. These cores hold a large amount of bloodline essence and mana. However, normal people can't just absorb them, and if they tried to do so they would instantly die because of how chaotic the mana within beasts is.
In fact, it isn't even considered normal mana, but a completely different version of mana that can only be used by beasts and other beastkin.
Kai was originally confused about beastkin, but apparently there are people who are half beasts and others who aren't even human at all, like elves and demons.
But even elves can't use chaotic mana, while demons can, which is why they are so dangerous.
This chaotic mana is split from the bloodline essence, where the chaotic mana is used to power weapons, while the bloodline essence is turned into foods that are given only to the strongest of the bloodline.
Even though this food has a lot of bloodline essence, their bodies can't absorb all of it, but they can still absorb a large amount through this method.
Beast cores can also be converted into electricity, which is why they are so important for the current state of the world.
Kai had finally caught up, at least to survival training, but there was still much to learn.
Kai was already mentally tired from all of the reading and understanding he had to do. After all, he had just internalized the knowledge gathered from two months of classes.
But since Kai's intelligence stat was so high, it was nothing more than a mere bother for him.
The next thing Kai really wanted to do was spar.
Before he had fought with Yuan, he had promised Luca a small duel.
