The Weight of Defeat
Days had passed since the events at
Gravetower.
The city was peaceful once again.
But for
Elior,
peace wasn't enough.
Every night, he replayed the battle against
Morrigan.
Soulmourne.
The hesitation of Lunashade.
His own mistakes.
The defeat.
He could have left for the next city.
He could have challenged the Dragon Gym later.
But something inside him refused.
Early one morning,
Mira found Elior training alone outside the city.
Lucario was practicing Aura Sphere.
Eclipse Lunashade was repeatedly attacking stone pillars.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Until the pillars shattered.
Mira smiled.
"...You've already decided, haven't you?"
Elior nodded.
"...I'm staying."
Mira wasn't surprised.
"You want the Ghost Badge."
"...No."
Elior answered.
Mira blinked.
"No?"
Elior looked toward the distant silhouette of Nowhere Gym.
"I want to become strong enough to earn it."
The following days were brutal.
Lucario trained its aura until exhaustion.
Mystveil practiced controlling its psychic powers under pressure.
Lunashade repeatedly entered its Abyss state.
Every time it lost control—
Elior was there.
Every time it hesitated—
Elior encouraged it.
Slowly.
Little by little.
The fear between trainer and partner began to disappear.
From the balcony of Nowhere Gym,
Morrigan silently observed.
Day after day.
She watched Elior train.
She watched him fail.
She watched him improve.
And for the first time—
She smiled.
"...Good."
A week later.
The road leading out of Nowhere City stretched toward the horizon.
Mira stood at the city gate with her backpack ready.
Her own journey couldn't stop.
She still had dreams to chase.
Goals to achieve.
Elior arrived to see her off.
For a moment—
Neither knew what to say.
After traveling together for so long...
The silence felt strange.
Mira laughed first.
"Don't lose to Morrigan again."
Elior laughed.
"No promises."
"That's exactly what worries me."
The two friends shared one final smile.
Mira adjusted her bag.
"When we meet again..."
"You better have that Ghost Badge."
Elior grinned.
"And you better be stronger too."
Mira began walking down the road alone.
The wind gently moved her hair.
Elior remained at the gates of
Nowhere City.
One moving forward.
One staying behind.
Two different roads.
The same dream.
As the sun set behind the city,
Elior turned back toward
Nowhere Gym.
His eyes burned with determination.
"Morrigan..."
"Next time, I'll win."
Far away, in the shadows of a hidden base...
Zeff looked at a map of the Luminara Region.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"The pieces are finally moving."
